Why India and Pakistan can’t live together – The main issues

on Sunday, May 26, 2013

India and Pakistan are rivals having huge population. Their relations are a long standing cause of global concern. Both nations are causing disturbances in internal affairs and civil unrest.

The British occupation ended in the nineteenth century which resulted in the birth of two states, these states were very apart from each other in terms of religion, culture and traditions.

India and Pakistan immediately went into war after independence in 1947. They fought over the disputed territory of province Kashmir. The ruler of Kashmir was given the choice either to join Pakistan or India. He decided to join India despite the fact that the population was mostly Muslims. In 1971, the Indian government supported the Aswami League of East Pakistan which resulted in war and led to the formation of a new state Bangladesh.

Today, the conflict between India and Pakistan is mostly because of Kashmir. Pakistan believes that Kashmiris are their brothers, and they should be a part of the country. Many Indians believe that Kashmir demonstrates a Muslim majority state in India and making it example that how Indians bring together people of different faith.

The hostility between the two countries is always because of the growth in respective sectors including military. Both countries have built large armies and both are nuclear powered. In Pakistan, the army is strong that they influenced the civil leadership in the past for the sake of interests. This enmity affects the economies of both countries. Both countries spend a great amount on the military. This amount should be spent on education, health and other sectors for the welfare of the people.

There are many religious parties in both countries who don’t want a good relation between the two countries. They have their roots in people and are very powerful. In India and Pakistan, people are not well educated so any party can use them for their own interests. People are not aware of their rights and interests.

Both nations have got very strong intelligence agencies which were involved in violence. Not only religious but also political leaders don’t want good relations for their own interests.

Both countries share a long border line but in case of any incident, the non-state actors consider it a chance for public sympathy, and instead of resolving the issues between the two countries, they fight in their own interests.

Countries like America, Russia and China have their own interests in both countries. China supports Pakistan in the war because they have their own interests regarding the economy of the country. America and Russia also have their own interests regarding the ports of Pakistan mainly Gawadar port.

Since both countries are very apart from each other, their traditions, customs and religions are different so they cannot live together. The Hindu and Muslims extremists are also the main factor that the people belonging to both nations cannot live together. There is also a difference in ideology, so it’s better for both nations not to interfere in each other issues.

Pakistan and India are great powers in the world so they should live together in peace and harmony so that they can work for the betterment of the people rather than spending money on the military sectors.
