OIC on Palestine Issue

on Wednesday, May 22, 2013

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation is the world second largest organization that represents the Muslim community. The OIC was established on September 25, 1969 in response to arson fire attack on Mosque Al Aqsa in Jerusalem by Zionist extremist. The motto of the OIC is to promote trade among the Muslim countries and preserve Islamic values and culture. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation consists of 57 states of four continents. Its main aim and objective is to protect and safeguard the Muslim world from external violence. It is the collective voice of Muslims in the world and works for better economic, social and political conditions of its member states.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation has achieved much success in areas of conflict management among the numerous countries. Conflict between Palestine Liberation Organization and Jordan in 1970, conflict between Pakistan and Bangladesh in 1974, Ramadan War issue of 1973 and oil embargo against the Israeli supporters were successfully and effectively solved by the OIC. Today, most of the Muslim countries such as Kashmir, Palestine, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, and Tunisia are suffering every day. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation is working for better, effective and peaceful solutions for the issues they are facing.

Palestine issue is a main concern of the OIC. The secretary general of the OIC and member states jointly are trying to find an effective solution for this historic dispute. On March 30, 2012, the secretary general of the OIC remind the whole world that Palestine issue is the main issue of Muslim world and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation has always focused on this issue to mobilize the global support for the people of Palestine. He recalls the humanitarian organizations, charitable institutions, the United Nations, Arabs and Muslims around the world to provide immediate relief and effective measures in order to solve this dispute.

It is said that the current leadership of the OIC is not trying to find solutions for the issues that the Muslim countries are facing. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation has lost its momentum. The leaders of the OIC have lost public confidence due to their silence on killing on innocent Muslims in Burma, Syria, Libya,… etc. There are certain weaknesses in the OIC but still it can unite the Muslim world and bring peaceful solutions, if the recent leaders of the OIC take reformative measures and act upon the charter in reality.

No doubt that the OIC is the sole Islamic Cooperation promoting Muslims and Islamic values to the international world. With effective participation at the international fore and better media profiling, the OIC represents the true image of Islamic values to the international community. The OIC is struggling for a peaceful and effective solution for the Palestinian dispute. Several times, the OIC secretary general recalls the other leagues to support and provide help. The OIC has made serious efforts through nonstop contact with Israeli and Palestinian leadership.
