The Importance of Religion in Life

on Sunday, May 26, 2013

A life without religion would be similar to a life without water. Religion might not be necessary to some, but it is extremely important to those who belong to one and strictly believe in one. It is truly a universal part of the human life. There are even people who have completely abandoned religion. Religion gives a code of conduct to live. It distinguishes what’s right and wrong. It gives direction to prosper today, as well as, tomorrow.

Those who love their religion have even sacrificed their fame, property, power and time to not only act on their religion but also to promote it. Many people believe that religion gives a meaning and a purpose to the life. Religion is a way of uplifting the hopeless and broken people by giving them that meaning in their coming life.

There are also such people in the world who think that there is no need of religion in the modern society as the human laws and rights made by the society itself are enough to form the basis of life. Have those people ever thought how are those human right laws formed? What is the basic criterion to judge what’s good or bad? What should be done and what shouldn’t? Well, it is actually religion that guides us throughout our lives. You might have seen in the European history that many societies are controlled by churches, and many of these churches are being controlled by the government. Religion actually defines who we are and what we should do.

If religion is truly considered important in one’s life, then it can make your life compassionate, lovable and worthy. On the other hand, the one who does not belong to any religion might have a vague personality. A religious man who beliefs in Allah does not and will not find himself in any desperation even in the worse times of life as he knows that he is under the protection of Allah who is the greatest protector of all. If he has faith that every deadlock can be solved with the help of Allah, then he will never be hopeless in life.

Whether a deed is big or small, religion will make a man conscious of his moral responsibility in everything he does. Religion is even a protective shield that saves a believer from all sins and keeps him under the mercy of God.

No matter what religion it is, an essential aspect of each one is to harmonize human life. There are many debates and misconception about which religion is the best one and which is not. Nevertheless, a religion is not just required for developing a worldly fame but, it exists to develop a spiritual character in man. It develops morality that should exist as long as humans live in this world. Even religious education is important in life. That is why it is included in the educational curriculum of the students in most of the countries.
