Islam is a religion of peace. It serves as a complete code of life for all Human beings. ALLAH revealed all his teachings through His Prophets by giving Muslims “ISLAM”. In Islam, we see that many Islamic rituals contain sports that help the body attaining physical fitness once they are practiced properly. Islam encourages all the productive things, so it’s a misconception of many people that Islam does not support sports and games.
Men and women both are in need of sports and exercise. There are many Muslim sportsmen and women who are known all over the world because of their achievements. Islam does not come with the exception of sports. Both men and women are encouraged for their achievements. An elegant stroke player and famous cricket star “HASHIM AMLA” is the first South African to reach the National squad. “AISAM UL HAQ” , the famous tennis player from Pakistan. He is currently the top tennis player of Pakistan. “MUHAMMAD ASIF” is a famous snooker player who represents Pakistan internationally. He won the First title of 2012 IBSF World snooker championship. “NASEEM HAMEED” is a Pakistani athlete, and the fastest woman in South Asia as she won the gold medal in the 100-meter event of the 11th South Asian Federation games.
These are some of the shining stars of sports who are respected and encouraged by everyone all over the world. Women can also practice sports, but with rules. If we want to teach women sports, then it should be done in clubs limited for women. Yes, it’s true that Islam supports sports but with some limitations. Islam does not allow directing improper words against the other teams. It does not allow improper dressing especially for women participating in different sports. Muslims should not involve themselves in sports to the extent that they neglect their religious duties. In Islam, females are not allowed to practice sports that are unique for men. It is permissible for both men and women to play sports, but the main thing is to keep balance.
Islam is a balanced religion. It also teaches sacrifice and co-operation especially in team work. It teaches us to always try again, to be healthy and natural in growing. It is to be made clear that Islam allows sports but with some stipulations. People should study more about Islam to clear their doubts and misconceptions, and to create a peaceful environment.
