Does Islam Preach Racism?

No, Islam does not preach racism. Islam is the only religion in the world which preaches peace, humanity and equality. Islam gives equal rights to every person without any discrimination between Muslim and non Muslim. Racism is the most inferior form of discrimination in many societies and countries. Discrimination is a very common problem in several countries, but unfortunately they do not take any action to end this evil.

Even some non Muslims countries have thought that Islam preaches racism, but reality is totally the opposite. Racism is strictly prohibited in Islam, and every person should be equal no matter to what religion he belongs, all are equal in the sight of Allah Almighty. Allah Almighty says in the holy Quran in verses 49; 13. “O mankind, we have created you all from a single (pair of a) male and female.”

Allah Almighty said that no one has superiority over other on the base of color, religion, race and tribe. All humans are equal in the sight of Allah Almighty; Allah knows everything and knows who is pious and who is not. Only obedient people are superior in the sight of Allah Almighty. This verse show that all people are equal regardless of ethnicity and skin color. All humans are judged according to their good deeds and faithfulness.

Before Islam racism was a very common practice in the Arabs countries but after the birth of prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) and the advent of Islam, this practice completely eradicated. Another example which proves that Islam is strictly prohibited racism. Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) said on the last sermon that “O mankind, all of you are descended from Adam and Adam has been created from dust.”

Another example which prove that Islam teaches equality, love, peace, brotherhood and mutual understanding, and discourages racism or discrimination. People come to Makah to perform pilgrim from different countries, and all races and nationalities stand in one row without any discrimination. All these practices show that Islam strictly prohibits racism.

Almighty Allah has acknowledged in another verse in the Quran referring to why he created man in different colors: “And amongst his signs is the creation of heaven and the earth, and variation in your languages and colors; verily, in there are signs for those who know” (Al-Quran 30:22)

Islam is the only religion in the world that gives equal right to all humans and gives full freedom to live or worship according to their religions or sects. Discrimination is the worst evil of life which Islam seeks to eliminate.
