Radical measures are required to save rain forests

Vast areas of the forest were cut down in Indonesia for the use of agribusiness. The initiative taken by the governments is already late enough that there are a higher number of chances that scarce species of the animals were affected.

I felt a great disappointment when I witnessed vast green land covered with trees converted into an industrial landscape. The forest of Sumatra and Borneo were forced to get educed by the paper, and the agribusiness industry that not only is damaging the environment but also is causing a great deal of damage to animals like elephants, rhinos, orangutan and tigers. The way the plantation is being used for the production of the food items, it will definitely get us closer to one of the greatest natural disaster. Though there were measures taken by the Indonesian government in order have the limited use of the plantation but still million of hectors are cut down every year.

With the way the forest has been cut down in Indonesia particularly have made most of the species come to an extinction. Last week WWF; s chief while talking to the media said that plantation of palm trees should immediately be cut down because the limit has arrived and we cannot afford to lose more forests. Deforestation not only led us to the extinction of the animals, but it also caused lots of violence as well resulting in many killings and injuries to the people. Director of Walhi, Indonesia’s largest environment group said, as a result of deforestation there is an increase in conflicts among the people.

The scientists have already predicted that the forest will come to an end soon. This fact can be clearly understood by the fact that one of the Canadian company is seeking for 1.77 m hectors of land for mining and logging purposes. With the measure that have taken by the Indonesian government are not working up well as the government has failed to stop the destruction said Phil Aikman Green peace International’s forest spokesman.

However, the villagers are of the view that the deforestation should immediately be stopped because they can’t live without the forest. They also said that the corrupt officials are not working the way they should have. The palm oil companies are not even paying them well enough. One of the villagers while talking said they would rather die, but they would not accept the palm oil companies to cover up their land. They have nothing left except to work for the companies. He added that they are getting poorer and poorer as the government is not taking any action. It’s now a matter of life and death, he added.

However, last year there were more than 100 million trees that were planted, but this seems to be insufficient. Still a lot of logging is done illegally by different companies.
