This planet is a wonderland. God has filled it with a beauty that is seemingly boundless! And why not for everywhere you go, every new place you visit is a spectacle of its own. Starting from the valleys of Kashmir to the aps of Switzerland, from the Middle Eastern deserts to the African rainforests, from the Mughal architectural sites of India to Moroccan Mosques; they are all living miracles for the traveler’s eye. Nature has certainly blessed us with so much that one simply never gets enough of tourism experiences.
Whenever you want to look up tourist attractions around the world, you get a plentiful of them over the internet. But being Muslims wouldn’t it be even better if we walk around god’s earth and savor his creations through an Islamic way? There are tons of attractions that you would not want to miss, but then there are tons of places that, being a Muslim, you would not want to go to with a family –or even alone for that matter.
Halaal tourism is a concept invented just to meet the requirements of a practicing Muslim who would not want to miss out on tourism, but at the same time would never want to face situations that are critical to his beliefs. Imagine going to one of the most popular tourist destinations around the world with your family and having to face the dilemma of finding a hotel that sells halal food. There are countless similar problematic occasions that frequent Muslim travelers would have faced in the past, and it is, for most of us, unacceptable to go through them in the eye of Islamic laws. Beaches are one of the most beautiful parts of this world, but some cultures have turned them more into bikini flaunting spots than what they are supposed to be. A practicing Muslim would want a traveling mode that can accommodate him/her for prayers and pay respect to the gender diversification when it comes to arrangements as opposed to the non-Muslim culture that tends to hoard males and females together in the same place. Muslims who want to adhere to the Islamic Sharia in all means would never want to stay at hotels and restaurants that sell alcohol in public; they want accommodation that is good and Islamic at the same time.
Such issues often result in a family mindset that doesn’t allow some of us to travel the world and stay confined to our home towns. The idea of Halaal tourism is to take tourism in the Muslim world to its true potential while elimination all the non-Muslim elements usually found in it. This newly bred industry is expected to hit a bullish trend very soon –the Middle Eastern countries are specially promoting it for the betterment of most of us. What was done so far guarantees some of the essential requisites such as providing Restaurants that are Halaal, Hotels that maintain an Islamic style of services, Halaal food and above all destinations that Halaal according to Islamic in as many of the contexts as possible.
It is an impressive initiative, and if incorporated and thereon accepted by the Muslim world properly, it can be a turning point in their opinion about tourism. I hope that the word goes out well, and Muslims understand its importance in accordance with our faith since having fun has never been prohibited in Islam. It is just the way you go about doing it that needs to be monitored –the Muslim world has a lot to offer, as well!
