In the world of cricket, there are elegant style players, and Hashim Amla is surely one of them. Right from the start of Amla’s career, he had an impact on the fans of his aggressive style of batting. Born in South Africa on 41st of March 1983, in a Muslim family, Hashim Amla started his career in the South African team and made a test debut on 28th of November 2004 against Bangladesh.

At domestic level, Hashim Amla represented Kawazulu Natal Dolphins and played for the team for almost four years. Even at the start of his career, Amla was blessed with a sound batting technique that helped him move further ahead. With the qualities of a leader, Hashim Amla had an honor of representing the South African under 21 team as a captain in under 21 World Cup. He led the team to the finals. Hashim Amla is the only South African Cricketer that had an Indian descent and represented the national cricket team at the age of 21. After making the debut against India in 2004, he was being criticized with his slower style of batting, but Hashim Amla proved every critic wrong when he played a superb knock against New Zealand.

Right from the start Hashim was guided by his brother Ahmed Amla who was also a professional cricketer. Hashim Amla is a top order batsman that usually bats at no. 3 position. Hashim Amla is also good when it comes to bowling and he can occasionally bowl at a medium pace. Currently, Hashim Amla is ranked as the top batsman in one day international cricket. Hashim Amla is also one of those few cricketers that had an honor of having a triple century right at the start of the career.

Hashim Amla consumed only 57 innings to complete 3,000 one day international runs that are almost 12 innings less than the sir Vivan Richards. Hashim Amla is also known as a cricketer with a cool head, and that is the reason Hashim Amla is the only cricketer in the South African cricketing history who topped ICC ranking in both formats of the game after Ricky Ponting. Recently, Hashim Amla was awarded Wisden Cricketer of the year 2013.

As a practicing Muslim, Hashim Amla is known to be a cricketer that successfully requested South African alcohol sponsors that he should be allowed not to wear a shirt with a logo on it. During the test series in Ramadan against England, Hashim Amla made a triple century. Hashim Amla remained in the news when Dean Jones, a professional commentator called him terrorist assuming that broadcast was not on air; however, it was heard by billions of people around the world.
