Mecca is the origin of Islam and a Holy City for every Muslim. In a pre-Islamic period, people there worship idols, ignorance everywhere, buried girls, injustice and no status of women. After the conquest of Mecca all these things came to an end. And people start living a peaceful life according to Islam.
Mecca was conquered by Muslims in 20th Ramadan, 8 AH (Jan, 630 CE). In 628 a treaty was signed between Meccan tribe of Quraysh and Muslims in Medina, called “Treaty of Hudaybiyyah”. It was a 10 year truce.
According to this treaty every Arab tribe were given the option or choice of joining the parties of Muslims or Quraish. The party would have the right to retaliate, any tribe face aggression.
So the Banu Bakar joined Quraish and Banu Khuzaa joined Muhammad (SAWW). They lived a peaceful life for sometime but after sometime their motives getting them back to the pre-Islamic period. They wanted to take revenge, so Banu Bakar break the treaty and attacked Banu Khuzaa at Al-Wateer in the month of Shaban (8 AH).Quraish helped Banu Bakar by taking advantage of dark night and sent men and arms. Nawfal, the chief of Banu Bakar chased them and kill many people.
Khuzaa sent a delegation to medina to inform Hazrat Mohammad (SAWW) and seek help from the Muslims of Medina.
After the whole incident Quraish sent a delegation to Mohammad (SAWW) to maintain the treaty with Muslims and settle down this problem by offering material. But the Muslim forces had gathered in strength to settle down with Quraish for the final attack.
After Abu Sufiyan departure Mohammad (SAWW) ordered to assembling a large army. And the objective of this mission was kept secret. Even Mohammad’s (SAWW) close friends and commanders did not know about it. Mohammad (SAWW) intended to move fast and assemble that Quresh was unaware from this. Mohammad (SAWW) sent Abu Qatadah towards Batan Izm, to create an impression that he wanted to go there.
On 10th of Ramadan, 8 Hijra (Jan 1, 630) Muslim army set out for Mecca. Volunteers and different people from allied tribes joined the Muslim army in their way and their size increased to 10,000 warriors. This was the largest Muslim force in the history ever assembled. Muslim army stayed 10 miles away from Mecca, at the point of Marr uz Zahran. Prophet (SAWW) ordered every person to light fire. Abu Sufian again came to Prophet (SAWW) for settlement.
Mecca lies in the valley of Ibrahim. It was surrounded by hills at some places, and the entrances in Mecca were from four places passing through these hills. So Mohammad (SAWW) divided Muslim Army into four groups. Muslim army entered Mecca on 20th Ramadan 8 Hijra (Jan 11, 630). The entry was bloodless and peaceful from three sides except from Khalid bin Waleed’s side. Quraish attacked Muslims with bows and swords, after a short skirmish Quresh lost after losing twelve men.
After the conquest, Abu Sufiyan adopted Islam. Ten people were ordered to kill and all others were forgiven by Muhammad (SAWW).
