Eid is actually an Arabic word which means festivity and fiter means after Ramzan. During the month of strict fasts of Ramdan, the Muslims get themselves in pious activities such as recitation of Holy Quran, offering prayers regularly, giving alms to the poor and needy people etc.
In a today’s busy life, everyone finds it hard to enjoy himself/herself with its full. Our religion Islam has blessed us with various chances to enjoy ourselves such as Eid-ul-Fiter, eid-ul-azha, shabraat, rabi-ul-awal etc. The festival of Eid-ul-fiter is usually awaited by Muslims anxiously after the holy month of Ramzan. The Muslims start their shopping for Eid-ul-Fiter and especially the women go out to shop for themselves, for their kids as well as other family members.
Mostly the shops of shoes, clothes, sweets etc… Are seen crowded and full with people of all ages, which shop new items and products for them to enjoy this festival with its full grace. Before the day of eid, the night is called Chaand Raat. This is the night of great rejoicing as there is great rush seen in markets. Girls go to the parlors to have mehndi and other beauty treatments. Children also go to the sweets shops to purchase different sweets and bakery products for themselves. Elders remain busy greeting their fellows, relatives as well as friends via phone or sms.
Usually the youngsters plan their eid day’s programs with their friends to go for outing. When the day of eid arrives, the Muslims firstly go for namaz of eid to the mosques or Eidgaahs. Afterwards they enjoy sweiyaan in the breakfast and have lots of fun with their family members. This eid carries with itself lots of chances to enjoy and get rid of usual daily routine. Cousins meet and greet each other and exchange of gifts also takes place on this special day. Children go to the playgrounds, play lands as fast food restaurants on this day. These places are seen crowdie during eid days.
Holidays from both government and private sectors are announced for eid. And everyone is seen busy enjoying his/her fully. The history of Eid-ul-fiter is tracked back by the Islamic Holy Prophet Hazrat Mohamad (PBUH) and it is observed on the first of Shawwal yearly. This day ids blessed to us by Allah so that we forget all our worries and enjoy the company of our beloved people. We being Muslims should be thankful to Allah, Who has showered His blessings to us and gifted us this day after the Holy month of Ramdan.
For this special occasion, our Holy Prophet (PBUH) as specially instructed us to exchange gifts among our friends, relatives as well as other family members. According to Islamic point of view, exchange of gifts increase love and affection among the muslims, giving them an opportunity to come closer to each other. This tradition greatly spreads the true feelings of brotherhood. There is a strong need that we take out sometime from our busy workloads and enjoy the eid days with its grace.
