Indeed the greatest point of privilege and honor for a Muslim is to be an Ummati of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) – the seal of Prophet hood, on whom was revealed the Holy Quran and for whom Islam was chosen as religion as mentioned in the Holy Quran, (interpretation of the meaning):

“This day I have perfected for you your religion, have completed upon you My Favor and have chosen Al-Islam for you as your religion.” (Holy Quran 05:03)

However, not only Muslims but also Non Muslims feel deep love and respect for the Holy Prophet (PBUH) who is in fact a paragon of morality and veracity; excellence and perfection ; mercy and compassion; generosity and sincerity; admiration and inspiration for the entire humanity. He was declared in Holy Quran as the Mercy of All Worlds (21:107) and from every action and statement; He (PBUH) proved this honorable title.

Allah Almighty made Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) complete in all forms of discipline and profession. When it comes to politics, He (PBUH) had no counterpart. His leadership skills were finest with a blend of command and guidance. He (PBUH) was the biggest supporter of human rights regardless of their gender; creed; caste; color and of course religion. He (PBUH) treated both Muslims and non Muslims in a decent and humble manner. For the same reason, even the worst enemies of Islam used to appreciate his finest character. He (PBUH) was the best strategist in both situations – War and Peace. He (PBUH) was the greatest peace maker who declared forgiveness for all His (PBUH) enemies at the Conquest of Makkah.

There was, is or will be no one who could have more value in all respects as compared to the Holy Prophet (PBUH). There was, is or will be no one more esteemed and honored in front of Allah Almighty than the Holy Prophet (PBUH). There was, is or will be no one more just and impartial among Muslims and Non Muslims than the Holy Prophet (PBUH). In fact, He (PBUH) is the most loved one in the sight of Allah Almighty; His Angels; His Prophets; and His entire creation.

Since Non Muslims also have a great love and regard for Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), they never stay behind in honoring him. There are several internationally renowned literary as well as political figures, who have expressed their deepest sentiments and emotions by paying tribute to Him (PBUH). Let’s have a glance at what enthuses them to realize and what inspires them to affirm Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) – A Mercy to All Worlds.

Michael H. Hart, the fame earned author of “The 100: A Ranking of the Most Influential Persons in History” while saluting the various astounding qualities of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) ranks Him (PBUH) as number 1 in the list of 100 historically acclaimed individuals from all different walks of life. He explains the inline philosophy of this selection by eulogizing the Great Prophet of Islam. In the context of choosing Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to lead the list, he makes it clear that no matter the readers will get surprised and some others may argue, but this selection is well justified for the Prophet (PBUH) who was the only man all through history who remained successful at both levels – religious and secular.

Stanley Lane-Poole describes the beautiful mannerism of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in his“Table Talk of the Prophet”. He (PBUH) always said what was required, but with greater clarity and care, that everyone could remember easily what he said.

Do you know what Lamartine, the famous French writer; poet and politician, thinks about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)? Let’s give a read to his “Histoire de la Turquie, which proclaims that with three criteria of human genius i.e. great purpose; small means and astounding results, there is no one to dare being comparable To Muhammad (PBUH) in the modern history.

One of the excerpts in the same book identifies Him (PBUH) as a philosopher; speaker; apostle; lawmaker; warrior; conqueror of ideas and restorer of logical way of life. He was the founder of twenty worldly empires and one spiritual empire. There has been no great man except him till today to fulfill the criteria of human greatness so perfectly.

Prof. Diwan Chand Sharma, a Hindu scholar has reflected his respect for Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in his book “The Prophets of the East” through a beautiful statement that declares Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as the soul of kindness, having deepest influence on all those around him (PBUH).

In the eyes of M.K.Gandhi, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) had all those amazing qualities that can surmount any trouble and any hardship. He explains that Islam was not spread by the strength of sword in the early days. It won the hearts of people due to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)’s utmost simplicity and complete self-effacement; his promising nature; his love and commitment towards friends and followers; his intrepidity and fearlessness; his complete faith in God and his sacred mission. With all these, they achieved glory and defeated every problem.

The Life and Teachings of Muhammad, by Annie Besant, reveals Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)’s glory through a wonderful thought set. She is of the view that whoever gets a chance to study the life history and character of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) will be definitely filled with respect and reverence for Him (PBUH). Whenever she re-reads about the prophet of Arabia, a new horizon of admiration and inspiration she feels in herself for Him (PBUH).

From all the above given statements by world’s prominent Non Muslim scholars; writers and politicians etc, it is not hard to elucidate that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was in fact Mercy to All Worlds and His (PBUH) beautiful teachings will always remain a source of enlightenment for us to come out of the darkness of ignorance.

How beautifully Thomas Carlyle, famous British philosopher and Nobel Prize winner has praised the Prophet (PBUH) in his book “On Heroes, Hero-Worship, and the Heroic in History” by stating that to accuse Islam as a lie and blasphem Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as a fabricator is of great shame and dishonor. It is clearly evident that He (PBUH) remained steadfast towards his principles; firmly determined; kind; generous; merciful; righteous; with real manly characteristics; hardworking and honest. Besides, these finest attributes, He (PBUH) was very lenient with others; kind and tolerant; pleasing and commendable and maybe he used to joke around with his companions. Without an iota of doubt, He (PBUH) was truthful; elegant; pure; intelligent and generous; the radiance of his face was as if light was emerging out from himself to break the darkness of the night. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was indeed a great man for all times who had not joined any school or visited any scholar for He (PBUH) was not in need of any of these.
