It seems that this year brings a lot of achievements to all Muslims around the world. Lately the Ministry of Islamic Affairs in Saudi Arabia has issued the first translation of the Quran in the Philippines language (Filipino).
After a continuous hard work during the last ten years, Saudi Arabia managed through an Islamic Invitation Office, responsible for inviting non-Muslim communities to Islam in the industrial zone, to issue this version of the interpretation of Quran that does not fall under the books of “the translated Holy Quran”, but is a translation of the book “The Facilitated Interpretation” which is approved by King Fahd complex in Medina for Printing the Holy Quran that falls under the Saudi Arabian government.
Those 10 years of sustained efforts were done by four full-time preachers, three collaborate preachers, and four female preachers in addition to a group of supporters preachers and specialists from outside Saudi Arabia.
Asking about the reason for choosing the Filipino language as the language of the approved interpretation, instead of any language of other countries, like Indian or Chinese languages, the Director of the Islamic Invitation Office in the industrial zone in Jeddah, Engineer Fouad Kauthar replied:
According to the official figures and numbers issued by the Islamic invitation offices around Saudi Arabia, it was found that the largest number of foreigners who enter Islam in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) are from the Philippines, accounting for 73% from the overall percentage of non-Muslims, which means that every 100 new Muslim there are 73 Muslim from the Philippines.
Engineer Kauthar further explains the presence of Filipinos in Saudi Arabia by saying that the Philippines has become in the year 2009, the country No. 12 globally in the census of “92 million people,” and that this country is a source of skilled workers in both the industrial and medical field.
He added that the estimated number of Filipinos in Middle East is around two million people; half of them already work in Saudi Arabia in medical facilities and industrial zones.
The new translation of The Quran interpretation came out to the light, after an approval by the authorized department in the Ministry of Mass Communication in Saudi Arabia. Then it printed 20 thousand copies of the book, at a cost of 240 thousand dollars, the equivalent of 900 thousand Saudi Riyals, and the book is in 1380 pages.
The project managers made the distribution of the book free of any charges, and were keen to open the door for financial donation for the publication of the book, by donating the value of $ 12printing one copy of the book, to print a high quality standard book. There is also a plan to build a global website to enable researchers and those interested to benefit from the project.
The plan of distributing the book is focusing on inside and outside of Saudi Arabia, where 40% through the Islamic offices inside KSA, while 60% will be through sending copies of the book to the specialized Islamic centers around the world.
