Filipinos working all over the world were very much happy because of the signing of peace agreement ceremony between the Philippine government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) last October 15, 2012 in Malacanang Palace. Even the Filipinos working in Saudi Arabia said that they felt motivated for the reason that the “Bangsamoro”, referred to muslims living in Mindanao, existing in the south of the country are now breathing peacefully.
One of the Filipino Muslim living in other country was Anas Hussein Datu, a four years of age born in the Kingdom participated in the photo taking session done in that country in courtesy of “Tugaya International Foundation” (TIF). A lot of Muslims were wearing yellow shirt with the slogan written in it saying, “We Bangsamoro support the Framework Agreement.” Children’s are bearing banners with the words written that comes from the abundant of joy that they felt. The agreement done was heartily and strongly welcomed by the Muslims abroad.
Leaders of different organizations around the world were very happy to see that the peace they once dreamed of is now taking place in the country. And everybody hopes that it will never come to an end. Countries like Japan, US, UK, Malaysia, and Australia were participating to make this agreement possible. The UN and the 57 members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation are very inspiring also to see that they expressed their support for the name of peace.
It is not the first time that a terrorist group is signing peace agreement in the country. It already happened during the time of President Ramos when the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), another faction where MILF broke away, led by Nur Misuari signed a Framework Agreement on 1996. But that agreement did not last long for Nur Misuari led another mutiny on 2001. MILF choose another scheme of agreement for they believed that the past agreement were half-baked.
The World Bank expressed their gratitude and support through working with the government, MILF, and other sectors in the country with the promise that they will help to improve the kind of living of the Filipinos especially the muslims of Mindanao. They also expressed their support to assemble the momentum for enduring harmony and development of the country.
The USA which is the strong ally of the Philippine uttered its support by the words given that they will maintain to effort with the worldwide neighborhood, stakeholders, and the citizens of the country to endorse simplicity, supremacy, monetary increase, and the expansion to attain an enhanced opportunity.
The UK also, with its representative Trevor Lewis, admired the effort of both parties and congratulated the signing ceremony. In his speech, he emphasizes the strong pledge of United Kingdom to a more diplomatic and successful future.
Christopher Thornley, a Canadian Ambassador to the Philippines, also celebrated leaving the message of gratitude to both parties for bringing the beginning of a new age of peace and opportunities not only to the Filipinos but also to the neighboring countries.
