Analysis on PPP government 2008-2012 part 2

on Sunday, March 3, 2013

Having said in this article “Who can do the job better?” by Atle Hetland, the Nation (2012) Pakistan People’s Party often demands for the funds or foreign aid but never focuses on collecting taxes from its own country. Pakistan must stand tall on its feet and fight its problems to attain normalcy instead of begging before US. This move by the government of seeking aids will create a humiliating image of Pakistan before foreign countries. The writer deliberately criticizes Pakistan’s stance on seeking funds and not standing tall on its own feet.

In the article “There goes Gilani” by Terence J Sigamony, The Nation (2012) writer lays emphasis on the poor conduct of the PM Gillani; how the former PM was shown the door by the CJP and put him in trivial phase. Although former PM disregarded the court and became convicted, but media did not leave any leaf unturned in showing in detail how disrespectful and irresponsible a man he had been. Entire episode is depicted in a wretched manner by showing PPP as a party of disrespectful regard for the judiciary and poor attorney.

In the article “Zardari must grab the initiative” by Farhan Bokhari (2012) The Nation, criticizes the Zardari stance and his motives in the Chicago summit conference lately. It’s a deliberate move of our leaders to please foreigners and US especially as it would not also tighten their position, but will hide the malfunctioning of the country. The economic outlook has deteriorated, and in the four year span of time we faced terrible energy shortages of all time. No apparent out seems to be visible from the Zardari’s trip as he failed to resolve the major issues creating clashes between the two countries.

In this article “The Zardari trip and the tribal areas” by Nasim Zehra (2008) The News, explained the president’s first trip into the US and tribal areas of Pakistan. In his trip to overseas, he showed that he’s another strong man from Pakistan who is a legitimate elected President. His speech was “incomprehensible babbler” like calling Mr. Bush a man because of him the world is a safer place –he surely needs to correct his wording as must focus on matters related to Pakistan and its sovereignty. Nowhere did he mention the constant loss of Pakistanis being killed by US drones, global injustice or Pakistan’s stance over terrorism. President’s visit was of no use as it couldn’t make US keen over pertaining issues.

Dipping into the article “Our rulers: erratic, fearful and full of deceit?” by Shireen M Mazar (2009) The News, criticizes the government of PPP for its bad politics. It provides another picture of the media targeting PPP and its moves. It says the government has no credibility to rule and handle series of issues just as it mishandled the issue of bringing peace in swat and FATA region. Despite several agreements, the governments failed to jump over a wise decision to instill stability and peace into the region. The minorities are kept in danger, and no rights are provided to them yet.
