The US Equation

on Friday, May 10, 2013

In every country, politics can easily be synonymous with excitements, shouting, slogans and anything that easily can make people enthusiastic. Slogans and convincing dramas are the soul part of election campaigning. For south Asian countries like Pakistan, it is more than true.

The current circumstance in the Pak-US relation naturally pulls people to give anti-US agendas and slogans. Being pressurized in some matters, everyone expects to be free from those and somehow dislike the US in the field of politics. Parties who are trying to draw attention to be the winners in the elections are very obviously drawing people towards them emphasizing on anti-US activities. Slogans and the assurance of getting rid of their interference are pretty popular among normal people. But, here in this condition, all parties should be more cautious and mature in their plans and activities. The country has a good link with USA economically and in the field of defense. So, picturing a state of a total breakage in this relationship, that is also in a short period of time is merely impossible. Political parties and all regular citizens of Pakistan should realize that, the relationship between this two nations has reached a long way from where detaching the network or separation from the dependency of Pakistan over the USA is not a matter of a short term or single blow.

So, it is barefaced that, all political parties should maintain their working policies in more rational, practical and in an impressionable way. The present situation states that, all religious parties are promoting their political rallies with the slogans against the US. Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal, Jamaat-e-Islami is strongly against the USA activities in Pakistan. They are trying to make people believe that, if they get the power, Pakistan will be entirely independent in their activities without any interference of another country specially the USA. Other parties are to some extent against this country, as well. Like Pakistan Tehreeek-e-Insaf party is also standing on the other side of the bank because they are against the drone attacks and the war against terror activities of the USA. Pakistan Muslim league, briefly PML-N party is in doubt in their foreign policy and about the future of the relation with America, whereas Pakistan Peoples Party is quite hopeful to maintain a fruitful relation with the USA. But yes, PPP also strongly blames the US for the drone attack. All in a sentence, every party should think in a practical point of view, how much they are capable of maintaining and how they can stop the ongoing relationship with the USA. Their slogans and agendas should reflect their activities clearly.

A true Pakistani citizen is always cherishing to make the country sovereign and successful, but this is a long run matter. It can be your ambition to which you will drive the country, but not an agenda which people expect to be fulfilled over a night. If such expectation is created towards a government, it will be hard to be maintained by them, and people will lose their hope for this government. To be successful in their responsibilities, parties should maintain the quality of their words and promises that it will not create a false hope among the people. Hope, parties will be successful at this point.
