Obama and Pakistanis

on Saturday, November 24, 2012

These past few weeks, the whole world had their eyes on the United States presidential elections. The two candidates Romney and Obama were running against each other. The worldwide media were covering the event and keeping close counts over the vote to see who will be the next president of the world’s strongest nation. Whether it is school, offices, family and friends gathering, these elections were one of the hot topics being discussed by everyone. Pakistan was one of those countries who actually didn’t show much care over these elections. The political leaders were telling their views and hopes, but the Pakistani citizens remained silent on the matter.

According to a report conducted by a Pakistani media person, many people showed no interest in the elections, the majority stated that whether Romney wins or Obama, both will be a threat to their country. In the past four year presidential years of Obama, Pakistan and U.S. relationships were not much healthier. Though the U.S. aided and funded the Pakistani government heavily in various factors, other political leaders and citizens were not at all happy with Obama. During Obama’s government, the U.S. drone attacks increased in Pakistan’s northern areas. These U.S. drone attacks are conducted by spy planes which are fleeing through controls only, no man is present inside. They attack specific areas of Pakistan where terrorists of the Tehreek-Taliban and Al-Qaeda are present.

The unhappy incidents of Obama’s government in Pakistan are the drone attacks, Raymond Davis, the secret Abbottabad operation, and the accidental killing of Pakistani Army militants on the Salala checkpost. The U.S. drone attacks have not only killed the terrorists, but also innocent men, women and children. These attacks are unlawful as the U.S. has no right to invade these areas. The accidental U.S. drone attack was done at Salala checkpoint which killed innocent Army militants. The secret Abbottabad operation took place in May 2011, where U.S. troops killed Osama bin Laden, this operation took place in the darkness of night without any permission. Raymond Davis was an American who killed two Pakistan citizens in accidents; no action was taken against him.

The relations between USA and Pakistani government are pleasant due to recent drone attacks and Abbottabad operation. The killing of Pakistan army is also very famous issue. Therefore USA should change his policies about Pakistan because Pakistan has earned a great loss due to war in Afghanistan. Therefore, the UN should encourage the policies and behavior of Pakistan against terrorism. The role of Pakistan is most important against terrorists in Afghanistan. Now, Obama has won the elections in the USA, and he will rule this country for the next four years. Therefore, he should take action to solve the problems of the Pakistani people. The war in Afghanistan and Palestine should be finished immediately. The dispute of Kashmir is also waiting for USA attention. Obama should play his role to solve the conflicts in the world. Pakistani people have more expectations from Obama as president of the USA.
