Mizan–the scale of balancing goodness and badness

on Sunday, November 18, 2012

Mizan’ is an Arabic word and it means a scale or balance. So it can be considered that Mizan is a weighing device that is used for balancing something. If we consider it technically, then we find that Mizan is not just like a simple balancing device, it has a special property that differentiates it from the conventional balance or scale. On the Day of Judgment, Mizan will be used for calculating the deeds of us. Mizan will be used for balancing the goodness and badness of our deeds. It is really accurate that Allah, the most merciful, doesn’t require any balance or scale for measuring our deeds. He exactly knows the amount of goodness and badness in our deeds by his infinite knowledge. However, he will use this Mizan for balancing purpose in the time of judgment just to, clearly, show us our deeds.

Mizan–the scale of balancing goodness and badness

Every single goodness and badness will be calculated by Mizan. If you do a very simple good work or a good Ibadat, you will see the good effect of this good thing in the output of Mizan. On the other hand, if you do an extremely bad or evil work, you will be able to see the effect of that bad work in the output of Mizan. So every good work or good Ibadat, whether it is small or large, should be given almost equal significance. Small pieces of water being accumulated can make an ocean one day, small pieces of sand being accumulated can make a desert, and it has to be remembered by us.

The Muslims should know that if they do a very small bad deed, considering that this kind of bad deed will be negligible during the balancing of Mizan, then due to this kind of stupid thinking that small bad deed will turn into a big bad deed. On the other hand, if we do a work that has small goodness thinking about the reward for that work, then this small good work may turn into a big good work. It ought to be kept in mind by everybody that without gratifying Allah, the most gracious, we will never be able to reach the destination of endless happiness. If we die before doing good works in the worldly life, then we have no chance to get good rewards from Almighty. Only if we can satisfy Allah in the way he wants, then we will have access to paradise, the residence of never-ending happiness.
