on Wednesday, May 8, 2013

The Olympics are said to be one of those events that are quite popular everywhere. There are a number of festivals and events that are organized all over the world but the fame and popularity of the Olympic games is huge. Last Olympic games were held and organized in Britain in 2012. It was also announced that Russia would be having the honor of organizing the Olympic games in Sochi, one of the biggest cities in Russia.

The date that has been announced for the Olympic games is in winter 2014, so Russia is now planning something for the upcoming event in 2014 that would be hosted by them. According to the deputy head of the Russian space agency, Russian astronauts who would be going to the space would be carrying the Olympic torch with them. The Olympic torch has its own identity as far as the importance of the Olympic games are concerned. There is always a ceremony organized in every venue where the commencement of the event takes place in which adults lid up the flame with the torch, that is called the Olympic torch.

The head of the Russian space agency surprised the world with the news, that came up to the scene, in which he stated that the torch will be going to space by an astronaut before the start of the event in Russia. Vitalay Davidov deputy head of the Russian space agency while speaking to the Interfax news agency said that it would be exactly the same torch that would be going to space. There will be no use of replica, he added.

He told the newspaper that almost everything is finalized regarding the ceremony that would be held in space, but he hesitated to give any further details about the event. The Olympic committee is the one that has to decide the date and the event he said.

The torch will not be lit at any point during the travel from the earth to the space because there is a lot of risk involved in carrying the torch lit to the airspace. The torch would be returning back on the 12th of November.

The space industry also said that the schedule has been developed by the agency to take the torch to the space, but the program may get altered as the ISS and the event organizers are still finalizing the plan about moving the torch to space. There are lots of chances that part of the ceremony would be held on lake Baikal, the highest mountain in Russia, that is said to be mounted Elbrus.
