Can Iraq have a peaceful General Election?

on Saturday, May 4, 2013

After being devastated by the war against terrorism by the US, Iraq is now looking for a regime that can rebuild the country after the war. The only way to have a government established in Iraq is through a proper channel. Even the US in now planning to move out of Iraq believing that Iraq control should be given to an elected government, but before that there should be stability in Iraq in order to have peaceful elections.

The question which is always raised, is it possible to have elections is Iraq with the presence of the US army. Still there is a lot of suicide bombing in Iraq that have forced the US army to think about shifting the control to an Iraqi government as a lot of Iraqis are now looking forward to having an elected government. There are a number of political parties that are looking for the chance to run the government. If we look into the details of the elections that were held in 2010, the Iraqi national movement was on the top and was given maximum number of votes.

Unfortunately, the new government failed to get the results that were expected. Still the situation in Iraq in unstable as far as the bombings and killings are concerned because there are many groups that want the US to leave the Iraqi soil as soon as possible. Though there are not many supporters left who thought that Saddam regime was good for Iraq, but still there are a lot of activists that are causing problems for the US army as a number of the US military men are beings injured or killed.

The only way to bring peace in Iraq is by giving the right to the Iraqi people so that they can elect the new government. The US is now having coalition with the Iraqi regime in order to achieve stability in Iraq, but till now the US army has failed to do so. There have to be many reforms to be brought to Iraq in order to get back to the level where it can support itself.

Peaceful elections can only be possible in Iraq with only one condition that is controlling the extremists. The extremist organizations don’t want a stable Iraq as far as the shifting of empowerment is concerned. There are lots of resistance from the terrorist organizations as not to bring peace in Iraq. Still there are higher numbers of people who die in suicide bombings. The problem within Iraq is that there are lots of political parties that wish to control the government, but unfortunately, all of the parties have failed to get the consensus at a single point that is why Iraq has been devastated by the killing of the people.
