Transgender (Islam Vs Christianity)

on Saturday, March 16, 2013

Transgender is a term used to refer to the tendency in behavior of an individual in which there is variance found in gender roles. Different religions have different concepts and logic about the transgender, but we will specifically focus on Islam and Christianity. Both of the religions have its point of view about the transgender.

First, if we talk about the Islamic point of view, there are basically two genders. One is male, and the other is female. In every individual, there is a tendency towards the opposite gender. It’s not always true that every gender is attracted towards the opposite gender. The tendencies can be found in the same gender, as well. The basic problem with the human beings is that they can get attracted towards the same gender. In accordance with Islamic teachings, one cannot be neutral, that means every individual should be one kind of gender and a tendency towards the other gender. One cannot say that there would be no attraction for males and females. According to Islamic laws you cannot be a homosexual.

There are also different kinds of disorders that can be found in an individual. Being a transgender could be one of the reasons for the disorder. In Islam, transgender people are given the right to choose the right path for them. Basically being a transgender is not itself a sin because the transgender people cannot be held responsible for what they are. It’s basically the problem with the genes of the individuals that make them feel like they are having opposite gender.

In Christianity, the concept of transgender is same as in Islam that no one can change his identity in case of any change in the tendency of the behavior. Every man will grow into masculinity, and every female will grow into femininity, that is in the teachings of Christianity. From the above line, it can be understood that everyone should be in their own gender. In case, someone tries to get another identity in terms of gender, then it can be viewed as a hormonal problem, because there is no such concept of transgender in Christianity. Christianity is a religion in which transgender is said to be an emotional problem. When a person is emotionally involved in these kinds of issues, then it does not mean that they have gotten what they have wanted. On the Day of Judgment, a man would be called with the same label that he carried when was born, and women would be called with the same label in which the God made her.

According to the bible, God’s intentions were heterosexuality, and there are some boundaries defined between the females and males. Males and females should be in their define limitations. It’s all about mis-perception of the people especially about the concept of transgender. It’s all in your mind nothing more than that. These concepts can easily be verified if you consult the religious books of Christianity.
