It was announced that the new assembly will have 217 members. It was the first free election which was held in Tunisia, since the country has been independent since 1956, as well as the first election in the Arab world.

When the Islamic party Ennahda was finally declared as the president, the reaction of the people during the elections was very bad. The people who wanted to become happy after the elections became violent and the country lost its peace. Many of the shops were broken and the people of Tunisia became out of control. This became a very serious matter and many of the lives were lost due to this protest. Tunisia faced great difficulties and hard challenges, this protest became an open matter and was covered by newspapers, TV and media. In every news channel, this news was spread.
