Before the elections, the Muslims of Palestine had a close eye on the United States of America’s presidential elections 2012. The Israelis and Obama in the past four years didn’t have a much better relationship, and so most Israelis were favoring Romney as the next president. More than 250,000 American Israelis cast their votes to Romney. In the past four years, Israelis had insisted that the U.S. take control and strict action against Iran’s nuclear plants, but Obama restricted and ignored that. Where as Romney has been very keen on this issue as he stated in his campaign speeches. Romney had also less emphasized on declaring Palestine as a separate country.
On November 7, 2012, the results were announced and Barrack Obama has been re-elected as the President of the USA. Palestinians have quite a bit of hope from him as Obama is in favor of declaring Palestine as a separate nation. Iran also wanted Obama to win and Romney to lose. Romney had been a threat to Iran as people were sure that the U.S. would attack Iran along with Israeli troops. Obama did not appear to be interested in attacking Iran’s nuclear stations, and so Iranian Muslims have high expectation from Obama. Iran and Palestine are those Muslims worlds who have good expectations for Obama, as the new president of the USA, but if we move to Pakistan the people are less interested in the elections. They said that Obama and Romney were both threats to them, and even though Obama won, nothing will change but the conditions will get worse.
In the past four years there had been non stop drone attacks in Northern areas of Pakistan, millions of Pakistani political parties and citizens have protested against these drone attacks but the attacks had never stopped. The Pakistanis cannot forget the secret operation conducted in May 2011 regarding the killing of Osama bin Laden, and the accidental drone attack in Pakistan-Afghan border which killed about 24 army soldiers of Pakistan. If we talk about the other Muslim countries such as Egypt, Saudia Arabia and Libya, then they believe that Obama will be more supportive. Muslims of world want to see Obama as the next president because he can deal with the international problems in a better way. Experience is important in every field of life for a politician. Obama has the ability to deal with every kind of problem like natural disasters and political issues. The performance of Obama was great in the recovery of the storm in New York. Therefore, most Americans also want to select Obama as next president.
However, the performance of Obama is very poor related to the drone attacks. The number of drone attacks have increased to great extent during last five years. Pakistani people are not more happy with Obama performance and activities. All Pakistani wants is to stop the drone attacks immediately in northern areas of Pakistan. Obama should take action and stop these attacks to win the hearts of all Pakistani people.
