Racism in the UK

on Monday, April 8, 2013

UK is not the only country that is facing the issue of racism, but there are many European countries that are facing the racism issue. The government is taking strict actions against the offenders but still the racism chants are increasing. The UK government has claimed that the increase in the foreign immigrants has caused serious trouble to control the racism in the UK. Racism chants are illegal in the UK and offenders will be charged under racism act.

In sports, the UK and Football Association is taking the racism matter seriously. They charge players and supporters with heavy fine if they are found guilty. Recent incidents showed us that the Football Association is not going to compromise on racism chants, as England skipper John Terry has to strip of from captaincy after alleged racism chants on Anton Ferdinand. In another incident, Luis Suarez was found guilty of offending Patrice Evra of Manchester United on racism.

Meanwhile, it is evident that the British media, politicians and security agencies still target Muslims racially. Many of the media channels after any uncertain event start blaming Muslims society for the incident that really creates a sense of anger and hate among the Muslims about the West.

The Tory minister said that the immigration rate has increased about 35% since 2009. They feel that the immigration system has gone out of control from the coalition government. He further told the press that he wants the government to review the policy of immigrants from the third world countries. Keeping in mind this statement, this is just to divert the attention from the real racism issue that is faced by the people in the UK in their daily life routine. The real truth is that the number decreased from last year.

There are many racism incidents that happened in the recent past in the UK. In 2005, the Birmingham riots between the African community and the south Asian community took place. They claimed that a teenager girl was raped by a south Asian men, but no evidence was proven against the south Asian men. In 2001, the UK police department racism scandal appears in the media where a white police officer called his colleague from African state a “nigger” and “a black cunt”.

There is not only racism chants of white on black, but also there have been many racism issues between the white. In 2001, the Pakistani Scots and Scottish people flare up, and this incident caused serious trouble in the area, yet the Scottish government has no policy about white on white racism chants, but there are many cases of this kind. The Scottish people don’t like Britain or Irish. Same is the case with other white communities.

In 2001, the attacks on a Pakistani Muslim were evident that racism is increasing in the UK. The government has to take strong steps to stop these racism issues in the country. The Scottish government told the media that they are taking strong steps to eradicate the racism in the country and wants to take offenders to court and charge them with heavy penalties.
