What could it be that makes one stand apart from the rest? When I say that, it doesn’t mean standing apart in the sight of the onlookers of course. It means standing apart above all in your own eyes. A balanced life would be a successful one, for sure; what then is success? The matter is subjective. Success to one person could be a wholly different thing for another and vice versa.
So a perfectly balanced life should have one ingredient, success –There’s still the question as to what is success, and in what arenas should one be successful in order to boast about having a “perfectly balanced life”.Lets think of what come to our minds at the first instance: World, Self and Religion. Which element gives you the perfect life? We shall try and figure it out –or at least lay fair grounds for debate.
In my opinion, “self” should be categorized separately from the rest, since having a content self/soul has got nothing to do with having bags full of money or Saturday night packed with friends. This is a tricky one! Being at peace with oneself requires much more than that. It requires knowing that the person inside your skin is worthy of what he/she has. It requires knowing that the person you are is something you actually feel good about. I, for one, have a happy “self” when I know that I have done justice to myself in terms of things that aren’t material in nature.
Achieving the world, on the other hand, would mean making sure that you excel in all the worldly grounds of play. Having the career of one’s dreams, attaining a position that would get you all the material things you want, this is all considered success according to today’s thinking; a massive indicator of a good life. Another indicator could be a great social life, tons and tons of friends, that can always make you feel like you are on top of this world.
Religion or the path of God is considered to be one of the major aspects in the caliber of your life. Fulfilling your duties towards religion directly makes sure that you are a good human being. It brings order to your life, conscience to your otherwise ordinary thinking and a light of hope in a life that is otherwise heading to a dead end. Faith gives you the power to cope up with the trouble you would never dream of facing –the saying couldn’t be truer; faith moves mountains! What could be a better entity or concept to lay your faith in other than God almighty.
So there we go, the three basic elements summed up to this articles capacity. The answer to the question that the title asks, lies within the title; there has to be a balance. Just like Islam preaches, excess of anything is wrong. So yes, for any breathing heart to boast of a perfect life, he or she has to strike a perfect balance between these three –I would give a little more attention to the “self” aspect, not that I want to be imposing.
