What Is Islam?

on Thursday, September 19, 2013

Islam is not a new religion in the world, instead it is true that Allah Almighty revealed to every individual through all his messengers or prophets. It is reported that Islam has become the fastest growing religion in the world. Islam is not only a religion, instead, it is also a complete way of life. There are five important pillars of Islam to follow. Islam promotes and encourages peace, love, mercy, forgiveness and care.

One billion people from different countries and states are united by their common Islamic faith. The world’s largest Muslim community is present in Indonesia. Most of people ask about the Muslims believe. The answer is that all Muslims believe in one, incomparable God, in angels created by him, in prophets or messengers for guidance of mankind, in the Day of Judgment and in complete authority of Allah Almighty over the life after death and human destiny.

It is very simple to become a Muslim by saying ‘there is no God but Allah and Holy Prophet Muhammad is the messenger of God. The actual mean of Islam is ‘submission’ and it is derived from a word ‘peace’. Now, the followers of Islam are increasing very fast in the world. It is reported that one out of every five persons on this planet is Muslim. The total number of Muslims in the world is nearly 3 billions. Unfortunately, Islam has become most misunderstood religion due to some reasons. Islam is strictly a monotheistic religion because it restricts to worship only God. The Muslims are those who believe in only one Allah Almighty and in Holy Prophet Muhammad as the final prophet of Allah Almighty.

Islam teaches that God is the creator of the whole world like earth, sky, sun, moon, stars, water, mountains and all living organisms. Allah Almighty is the most powerful and dominant. No power in the world can challenge God because he is the best of all. The First prophet of God was Adam followed by so many prophets to guide humanity. The purpose of arrival of prophets was only to introduce Allah Almighty and his characteristics to mankind. The most famous Prophets include Holy Prophet Muhammad, Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac and Jesus. It is a real fact that all Prophets or messengers brought the same message, and the message was “to believe in one God”.

Islam is the last and final religion, and it is revealed through Holy Prophet Muhammad. He was a great, truthful and honest person. He was born in Mecca. At the age of forty years, Allah Almighty asked Holy Prophet Muhammad to declare the Islam publicly. The Quran is the most important and the Holy book for Muslims, and it contains 114 chapters. This Holy Book is unadulterated over 14 centuries and it is the pure word of God. This book contains the solutions of all problems that affect human being.

Why is Alcohol Prohibited in Islam?

on Monday, April 15, 2013

Everything in this universe is the creation of all mighty Allah. The sky, the land, the oceans and the sun all creatures belong to Allah. Among all the creatures, Allah has given superiority to the human being. Allah has given man everything to be called super creatures and it is the duty of all human beings to obey the orders of Allah.

Allah states: “we have indeed created man in the best of moulds” (Surah At-teen: 4)

Without any doubt, God knows what is best for us as humans and what is harmful for our health. For this, Allah has set some laws in which humans can clearly identify what is good for them and what is against the orders of Allah. According to Quran and Shariah, alcohol is strictly prohibited in Islam.

The Quran states: “They ask thee concerning wine and gambling, say: in them is a great sin, and some profit, for men; but the sin is greater than profit” (Surah Al-Baqarah: 219)

In the Arabic language which is the language of the holy book Quran, the word alcohol is called “Khamr”. Keeping in mind the Quran and Sharia, it is a great sin for human beings especially for Muslims to use alcoholic drinks in their routine life.

In Islam, it is strictly prohibited to sell alcohol even to non Muslims so trading in alcohols in general is not allowed in Islam. Keeping in mind this restriction, despite getting the license from the government for selling alcohols or for running a pub, all the income you would get from this business would be considered as Haram. You will have to pay for this on the Day of Judgment and Allah has clearly mentioned hard punishment for alcoholic users and sellers.

It is worth to say that there are many health and social issues related to the use of alcoholic drinks. The first and the major drawback, of using alcoholic drinks, is “it is considered as the major cause of violence and corruption in the society”. People who drink alcohol can create problems that are linked to killing, stealing money, corruption, rape and other unlawful activities. The alcohol affects the human mind directly. It leads to the lose the mind, and the use of abusive language, which creates a sense of hatred among the people, they forget their duties and responsibilities and they can even stop worshiping God. Indeed it is an evil act, and it is not acceptable in any religion.

Medically proved that they are very dangerous to the human lungs, and excessive use of alcoholic drinks leads to cancer and other hazardous diseases. A research shows that more than 3000 people died in Australia due to the use of alcoholic drinks in their daily life. Every year more than 2500 people get brain damage for the same reason.

West Living in the Fear if Islam?

on Thursday, March 28, 2013

It is well believed that for the western world, Islam and Muslim world seem as the biggest threat. There are several reasons backing up this belief, like every now and then Muslims are being targeted somewhere on false claims of promoting terrorism and disrupting peace, and somewhere on account of practicing Islamic living and dress code. From France to Germany, today Muslim women are facing hard times just because they are not ready to leave hijab. Besides in various western countries, there are limitations laid even on the construction of mosques – Muslims’ place of worship. A western fear “If Islam” is reflected from the various attempts in which for every upheaval Muslims are blamed and declared faulty, without even investigating the realities behind. This is a point of deep sorrow for the entire Muslim Ummah, where to denigrate Islamic image, they are solely held responsible for every mishap.

The biggest question mark is, why is this all happening? What are the reasons behind? Why Muslims are being deprived of their rights as humans? Why the West is doing all this or is it forced? Is it really because of the fear “if Islam”?

It is thought and widely believed that the West is living in the fear if Islam, for several reasons out of which large Muslim population is regarded as the most important. No doubt this is an utmost reality and according to the Guinness Book of World Records, Islam is becoming the fastest growing religion by the number of conversions every year especially in the major countries: the UK and the USA. However, if we give this entire scenario a deep insight, we will realize that it’s neither the West which is undergoing “If Islam” fear and nor Islam which is regarded as the biggest threat for them. Questions are also raised that if the west is so much afraid of the spread of Islam, instead of devising ways to stop Muslims to freely practice Islam, it should accept this reality because impositions on Islamic society are not reflecting and showcasing a good soft image that western societies always talked about. Rather it is portraying itself against basic human rights of freedom and liberty.

Let’s have a look with a broader perspective where Islam and West are not against each other.

When Muslim converts are generally asked about “What about Muslims made them embrace Islam?” Many answer that they started studying Islam out of curiosity or even enmity against Muslims, but upon turning the pages of Islamic history, found its teachings the most humane; logical; modern and scientific. There is nothing like the word terrorism or violence promoted by Islam as voiced against it today. They accept Islam on grounds of its utmost veracity and justice for all mankind. They embrace Islam not because of Muslims but because of Islam itself. A Muslim may have flaws but Islam is flawless.

If West fears Islam, then it should not, since Islam has no war against humanity or society. Islam is in fact a religion that promotes pure peace. Islam teaches Muslims to respect every single being; every religion; every Prophet of Allah (PBUH). When those Christians who are filled with rage against Muslim Ummah, investigate what Islam says about Prophet Jesus (PBUH) and find that in the Holy Quran, He (PBUH) has been described as the most handsome man, highly respectable and honorable for Muslims, their hearts melt to say, “Yes! Islam is sincere”. When Jews find Moses (PBUH) being mentioned in the Holy Quran as the only prophet being honored to directly communicate with Allah Almighty, they realize, “Yes! Islam is Unbiased”.

The West should not be afraid of Islam. In fact, Islam is not a threat not only to those who are not sincere in the west but even to those who are not sincere in any Divine religion be it Judaism or Christianity. Those who didn’t look at this side of the reality before, should start thinking this way instead of aggravating the situation between Islam and the West.

What Can Muslims Do To Change the Perception of Islam?

on Tuesday, March 26, 2013

What Can Muslims Do To Change the Perception of Islam?

Muslims with a real understanding of Islam believe that the essence of the word Islam preaches peace, compassion, and tolerance of all religions and beliefs, and respect for human dignity. It is the basic principles of Islam.

Today, the world community is increasingly calling to prevent islamophobia around the world and to retrieve new forms of the peaceful coexistence. In the time of globalization, there are many examples of Muslims and non Muslims people who aim to change the perception of Islam.

In various cities of France, there are officially established committees against the rising islamophobia. For example, French committee against islamophobia began its work under the slogan “We are one nation.” The main purpose of this committee is to prevent desecrations Islamic shrines and mosques, as well as the attacks on Muslims. Nowadays, the next institutions have become very necessary tools to prevent islamophobia in countries with multinational societies.

New UNESCO initiative in the fight against Islamophobia detected that the main problem is the growth of islamophobia. Because of insufficient education of the youth about Islam nowadays; in the future it will be difficult to change. The school plays a key role in the formation of the internal settings of the youth. Therefore, to foresee the situation of the perception of Islam, the world community decides to start from the very beginning, from education.

Surely, to fight the religious intolerance does not mean only to speak about it at the official level and to make some formal and live dialogue to the society from the camera. Some media channels today with no chains of any control can spread some dubious and negative elements about Muslims and Islam to the public. Today there is no censorship in democratic countries, but there has to be some balance or contrast between the percentage of negative and positive information that comes into the community about Islam.

Media make a huge impact on the minds of people and is capable of forming some images in their head. Many of the negative perception of Islam depends on the association of some of the terms with negative meanings. For example, concepts such as terrorism and extremism, which are often closely associated with Muslim people and Islam. That is why specialists rightly believe that some correction of those definitions will create initially different reception of Muslims and Islam.

The current President of Afghanistan has said the following about islamophobia in one of his interview: “The evil of Islamophobia – it is really disturbing phenomenon that threatens the peace and coexistence among cultures and civilizations. I urge the leaders of the West, both politicians and the media, to resist Islamophobia in all its many forms and manifestations”.

How to learn Islam?

on Friday, January 18, 2013

This would be hard to believe if there was a place where Islam is absolutely unknown. There are numbers of people that are becoming more curious to get some information about this widely spread religion around the world. Most of the time, people are amazed and surprised. Islam is one of the most widespread religions around the world, and one-fifth of the world’s population follows the Islamic way of leading life. Muslims are from various nationalities, races and cultures, but the religion teaches that all humans are equal.

Islam has been misunderstood and misinterpreted by some of the Western countries. The result is visible nowadays, even though it is expected that all these misconceptions will one day be over. However, being Muslim is not just about living life in a special fashion. One needs to learn Islam for better self-control and discipline, as it also requires full dedication towards Almighty Allah and his directions for living life, as mentioned in the Islamic Shariah.

Whenever you learn Islam, you have to believe in all Islamic beliefs. The Islamic religion did not begin from the Prophet Mohammad’s era, nor has it been invented by him.  While learning this religion, you will understand that you have to believe in Almighty Allah’s creation, and the relation of all invisible and visible objects of the universe. You also have to believe that Islam is the way, where you can understand the true reality of life and the role of all Muslims during their lifetimes. There are some pillars or standards for Muslims, which are to believe in Almighty Allah; in all angels created by him; in his creations; in all prophets by which he had conveyed all his messages to Muslims; and in eternal life, which will start after death, the Day of Judgment where Almighty Allah will decide the destiny of all humans.

If you want to learn Islam, you have to do extensive research about its authenticity, effectiveness towards human races and its current usability in regular life. You may not get enough support from the local libraries, as they may not have enough sources. However, you can always start with an introductory book where the Islamic religion has been mentioned on an extensive level. Books that can offer all basic rules, pillars, rituals and prayers will be the right one for you. Besides, you have to make sure that the book is not biased, and it will be perfect if it has been written by a Muslim.

You can also meet with other Muslim people to learn some of the basics of Islam. To make it happen, you can go to a local mosque in your zone and visit them during prayer times. This can be a good opportunity to engage in a conversation with other Muslims and learn a few things in the process.

There is another method of learning Islam, which is to visit Islamic centers. You can make contact with them to determine whether they are able to understand your purpose of learning and understand the ethics of Islam. They will likely invite you to go there to offer the best possible Islamic education.  Another important aspect will be reading the Holy Al Quran. Try to learn and recite this holy book as much as possible.

Why Are More And More People Converting To Islam?

on Sunday, January 6, 2013

Islam is a growing religion and it is a religion that has become quite popular after the attack on the Twin Towers. People were enraged by what happened on 9/11 and they wanted to know why some Muslims would do such a thing. This is when people started to take interest in Islam to learn what it was all about. There were many people that started off by learning about Jihad and understood that Jihad is not something horrible. People have just made this word horrible by depicting it in a negative sense. Individuals in the West went around saying the word “Jihad”, but had no clue about what it actually meant. This is when many of them started their own study about Islam. They started reading books, the Qur’an, and so much more so that they could get a better understanding of Islam. One thing led to another and there were many people that wanted to continue with their study.

We interviewed many people that converted to Islam and they said, “It is not a religion of violence. It is a religion of peace and brotherhood. Islam teaches a person the way of life and moulds a human into a complete human being.”

We also asked many converts about their feelings after the conversion and many replies were similar such as, “Being a Muslim feels great! We have an aim in life now and that is to please Allah to reach Paradise. This is a complete religion that has really helped us to become a better people. It has given great meaning to life and made it worth living.”

Reading the Qur’an and researching information about Islam has really created uproar in the Western world. People now see that the religion does not enforce violence. It is a very peaceful religion. There have also been many miracles and proofs in the Qur’an that have been validated while human presence. This helps individuals to understand that this religion is something more. Individuals do their own research and no one is forced to convert.

The message that this religion passes on to people is divine and it is something that is true. There are many things that you will read in the Qur’an and information that you find in books that will provide you answers to all your questions. This shows that the attack on the Twin Towers did not really create hatred towards Islam. People became curious about why Osama did what he did. He was not a true Muslim and many individuals were able to learn that when they commenced their study on Islam. People are converting to this religion because after studying it they have understood the true meaning of it. The reasoning of this religion really makes one think and encourages a person to choose the right path. This is why so many people are choosing Islam as their faith and Allah as their commander!

What’s our duty towards our parents according to Islam?

on Saturday, August 18, 2012

What's our duty towards our parents according to Islam?

The young generation of today finds its life too personal and do not want anyone to interrupt in their life styles be it their parents or anyone else.

The holy Quran says:

‘’Treat your parents with great kindness; if either of them attain old age, do not even say ‘’uff’’ to them; nor rebuke them; but speak to them with kind words. Treat them with humanity and tenderness and pray, ‘’o our lord, be merciful to them; just as they brought me up with kindness and affection in my childhood.’’

(17: 23,24)

The above hadees clears what is the position of parents in Islam. Children of today have become independent on their own. They do not give the due respect to their parents and elderly family members. If their parents advice them about something, they think they are interrupting their privacy.

Islam has given a really high place to mother. Paradise is at the feet of mother. This can be proved through an incident. Once a man asked hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W) ‘’ to whom should I show most of the kindness? “ . Our beloved prophet said ‘’your mother, your mother, your mother and then your father.’’ A woman carries her child in her womb for nine months. She bears all the pain during the process of giving birth. She spends every minute of her life worrying for her child. She sleeps only when her child is asleep. This gives a very high position to a mother in Islam.

Once a man came to Hazrat Muhammad (s.a.w) and said that he can’t take part in pilgrimage as he has to take care of his old mother. Hazrat Muhammad (s.w.a) said ‘’You don’t have to worry. This act of yours will earn you more sawab than the pilgrimage’’

This doesn’t mean that fathers do not have an equal position as to mothers. If paradise is under the feet of mother, father has the key to enter that paradise. The position of father in Islam can be explained through this statement of Quran

“God’s pleasure is in the pleasure of the father, and God’s displeasure is in the displeasure of the father.”

Fathers are those beautiful persons who work day and night for the comfort of their children. They sacrifice their comfort in order to give their children whatever they want. A child can never ever repay all the favors that his father did for him so he must show his gratitude towards him by being obedient.

A child must always remember that his relationship with Allah almighty is directly linked with his attitude toward his parents.

Islam is regarded to be a peaceful religion, and it only believes in peacefulness and worship to only one creator. We Muslims name him the almighty Allah, and we truly believe him for all this creations and we have been devoting ourselves to get his blessings, and ask forgiveness for all our sins. To be Muslim, it is must to believe that, there is nothing but Allah who rules this universe. In Islam, it is believed that, there have been reasons for all creations that Allah made. Besides, we have been come to know on how all of our prophets had to reveal these truths to mankind, and let people to understand the true features of living lives, and the universe. Islam makes us believe that, peace and mercy can only be achieved if we can lead ourselves to the path of Allah has already given.

Ang Amerika Ba Ay Salungat Sa Islam?

on Monday, July 30, 2012

What are the basic foundations of Islam?

on Wednesday, July 25, 2012

What are the basic foundations of Islam?

Being a true Muslim is the duty of every Muslim. No one can become a true Muslim just by being born as a Muslim. There are certain basic rules and lifestyles to follow for becoming a real Muslim. And to know the basics, one should get a proper Islamic Education. According to the fundamental basics of Islam there are five basic foundations that are considered to be the most important for any Muslim:

Faith

Having faith in Allah, the prophet and all that have been given to us by them is the first basic of Islam. Anyone claiming himself to be a Muslim need to have this strong faith on all these as without strong faith, no one can become a truly religious and blessed soul.

Salat, five times a day

Salat is regarded as one of the mandatory things to be accomplished by all Muslim peoples. The importance of saying Salat can’t be calculated or predicted easily. Its importance in every Muslim’s life is enormous. In Al Quran, the necessity of praying Salat had been mentioned. So it is understandable that, Muslims can get closer to the almighty Allah if they can pray Salat on time, and of course with full dedication.

Fasting in Ramadan

Fasting during the month of Ramadan is one of the most important foundations of Islam. According to the Quran and hadith, Ramadan is a very special month and holds lots of importance for the Muslim. However, the month of Ramadan has some rules and regulations for the Muslims to follow. Ramadan is the month to practice the controlled lifestyle that Allah has defined for us. The Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset and avoids all those that are prohibited as per the regulations. After a month of such controlled lifestyle, there comes the celebration of Eid and this month is also special as people are ordered to give away Zakat and fitra to the poorer population so that there is a wealth redistribution system in practice.

Hajj

Hajj is a special procedure through which the Muslims follow a few ancient traditions to obey the order of Allah and to show their respect to the religious laws. This special task is mandatory only for the rich people. During Hajj, people has to follow some very strict traditions and all these take place in the two most holy places for the Muslims, the Mecca and the Medina. These places are in fact closely related to the history of the Muslims and therefore are very special for the Muslims and the traditions that are practiced.

Zakat

Zakat has been already mentioned as an associated task in the month of Ramadan along with fasting. Zakat is a heaven decided method of wealth redistribution method for a healthier and happier society. It has been said that if Zakat is given fully by all Muslims in a proper way, then within a few years, there should not be any poor people needing that Zakat in the society.

If you look closely you will see that all these basic foundations have strong impact in our lives as Muslim and are of utmost importance for a peaceful and routine life full of Allah’s rahmat.

Ist Gnadentod verboten im Islam?

on Thursday, July 19, 2012

Where is US Going Wrong Against Islam?

on Tuesday, June 19, 2012

For last two decades, whether it is an impression or a reality or just a slip of tongue, is that the United States is at war against Islam, Islamic country or Islamic civilization as a whole and is engaged in doing everything to stop it, destroy it or at least put a check on its spread. For several in the eastern and Islamic countries, it is not just an impression but a reality, while for some others, who are more pragmatic, it is just a war on extremism and there is no such a thing as Crusade. However, the problem is that it is such an elusive war that sometime it poses itself as a modern day Crusade and at other times a simple war against the Islamic culture.

The factors that contribute to spread of this impression that the United States has locked horns with Islam as a whole include the US espionage activities in the Islamic countries, wholesale purchase or plunder of natural resources, presence of the US marines or other troops in the Islamic lands, attacks on the Muslim countries one after the other, wholesale killing of the Muslim populations in the name of collateral damage, disinterestedness over the issues of the Muslim majority areas under foreign occupation and now the new strategy of flaring public outrage against its own installed dictators in the Arab world.

On the other hand, some other factors contribute to the benign face of the Uncle Sam such as its support to the Bosnian Muslims, aid to the poor Islamic countries, spread of education and democracy in the Islamic world, freedom of the Muslim population from the dictatorships and above all monetary help of the Muslim countries. If we weight all these factors on a balance scale, it seems that the factors contributing to the impression of US-Islam at loggerheads weigh down. It means the line must be drawn somewhere where the United States or at least its government policies are going wrong.

Both the points are wrong. In fact, under capitalism, now the US policies are more governed by the seasoned politicians under the perception of bringing freedom and democracy. For last five or six decades, the rise of multinationals, industrial complexes and defense production factories have taken hold of the US policies. Now the major objective of spreading democracies and freedom have lagged far behind replaced by the sale of weapons to this or that country, profit, purchase of oil to run the economy, excelling in trade and above all the obsession to remain superpower for the next century. This capitalistic thinking has led to manufactured opinions within the media, leading to intellectual dishonesty at mass level. The public to public contact has been lost in the fog of joblessness and health care at home and war at the foreign front.

Recently, a new report has revealed that the US special operation forces are engaged in espionage in Africa as well after South Asia and Arabian countries. This strategy is leading to stretching the US arms that may one day stretch its economic wheel, forcing the people to go starved, while now they have only lost their jobs. The way out is only that the American public should be told the truth and taken on board while making policies instead of using the industrial tycoons.
