Pakistani officials arrest suspect in connection with murder of Daniel Pearl

on Thursday, March 21, 2013

The family of slain Wall Street Journal reporter may finally have an answer to who killed the infamous reporter in a gruesome recorded beheading in Karachi, Pakistan. Officials in Pakistan arrested Qari Abdul Hayee for his alleged involvement in facilitating the kidnapping of Daniel Pearl, which eventually resulted in his death. Pearl was in Karachi to research a story about Pakistani militants and Richard Reid, the so-called “shoe-bomber”.

Pearl was kidnapped by militants and later decapitated. His killers sent a chilling video of his killing to U.S. officials. The video of Pearl’s death received condemnation all over the world. The video started off with Pearl seen declaring his Jewish heritage.

He said that his name is Daniel Pearl. He is a Jewish-American. His father is Jewish. His mother is Jewish. He is a Jew.”

The correspondent then went on to make statements that most analysts believe were made under duress. He spoke about how he had visited Israel several times with his family, and that a street in an Israeli town was named after his great-grandfather, one of its founders. The camera then turned over to members of the militant groups, who then claimed responsibility for the abduction of Pearl. The militants described themselves as members of the National Movement for the Restoration of Pakistan’s Sovereignty. They demanded the release of Pakistanis being held without due process at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba by the United States, as well as an end to the presence of U.S. troops in Pakistan, and the delivery of F-16 fighter jets purchased by Pakistan but never delivered.

Qari Abdul Hayee was arrested in a paramilitary operation targeting local militants in the port city of Karachi on Sunday, according to a senior government official who preferred to remain anonymous. He said that the covert operation was based on intelligence information received by security forces and that a significant number of weapons were recovered during the targeted raid.

Hayee is not the first man to be arrested in connection with the kidnapping and murder of Daniel Pearl. Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, a British militant was recently sentenced to death for his role in Pearl’s murder by an anti-terrorism court in the Pakistani city of Hyderabad. Three other accomplices to the murder were awarded life sentences, a term that is normally equivalent to twenty-five years in Pakistan. Khalid Sheikh Muhammad, who was also arrested in Pakistan in 2003, confessed to killing the Wall Street Journal reporter. Interestingly, Muhammad, who is also a suspect for his role in the 9/11 attacks, has not been charged with Pearl’s murder as U.S. officials felt it might complicate his prosecution for the deadly attacks on the World Trade Center.

Pearl’s widow, Mariane Pearl welcomed the capture of terrorists involved in her husband’s death, saying that it should serve as a reminder that there is still “a vast and international network of terrorists.” At the time of her husband’s death, a pregnant Mariane Pearl had called upon the international community to take responsibility for fighting terrorists, and upon citizens to take a more active role in deciding their countries’ foreign policies. The fact that no one has been charged with the tragic death of Daniel Pearl in Karachi, Pakistan serves as a stark reminder that a lot needs to be done to make the world a safer place, but this arrest will bring some comfort to those who had gotten to know the budding journalist.

Gang Rape In India – Murder Charges Filed Against the Suspects

on Sunday, December 30, 2012

New Delhi- The Indian police have charged six men for gang-raping a girl on a bus. The girl was thrown out of the moving bus and later died at a hospital in Singapore. A bus driver and six other people have been taken into custody at a police station in New Dehli.

This incident happened around two weeks ago, and it created quite an uproar amongst the people in India. Many protesters have hit the streets and they are demanding for protection for women not only in India, but all over the world. There is a high security alert in New Dehli and the police have barricaded some areas where rallies have already been held. The police banned protesting in Raisina Hills and closed off many roads. The authorities also ordered to close down ten of the metro stations.

The victim of this violence was taken to Singapore so that she could be treated for the injuries. After the medical team conducted the autopsy they reported, “She is in critical condition and has been treated brutally”. The chief executive of Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Dr.Loh stated “She suffered from organ failure also there were severe injuries on her brain and her body. She is a fighter to have survived the attack, but the extreme trauma was too much for her body to overcome”. Doctors reported that she had an abdominal infection and she was too weak to carry on living her life.

The authorities have kept the name of the woman a secret, but many protestors are calling her by the name “Damini”. This word is a Hindi word and it means “lightning”. They have named her this because there was also a Bollywood movie released in 1993 that had a similar story.

The attackers not only attacked her, but even caused harm to her male friend. They robbed these two of all of their possessions before they dumped them on the road. The friend is still recovering and will be discharged from the hospital soon.

The rape cases have increased day by day in India. The figure in 1921 was 2,487 and in 2011 it was 24,206. This shows that there are no strict rules that are being enforced and women are not being protected. There were around 572 rape cases reported in 2011 and this year there are over 600.

“Damini” may have left this world, but she will get justice. Women in India have reported that men do abuse women on public transport and it has become hard to travel in such times. India really has some work to do to protect the female population. Women are not treated equally in this country and the authorities can be blamed to some extent. Where are they when things like this happen? However, the Cabinet in India has planned to set up measures for the safety of women, so there may be some changes that we will see in a couple of months.

Woman accused of hate crime murder on New York City subway

on

A 31 year old woman was charged on Saturday 29th December of second-degree murder as a hate crime following the death of a man who was pushed onto the tracks of a subway station in Queens.

The New York Times reports:

"In a statement released by the district attorney's office, Mr. Brown quoted Ms. Menendez, 'in sum and substance,' as having told the police: 'I pushed a Muslim off the train tracks because I hate Hindus and Muslims ever since 2001 when they put down the twin towers I've been beating them up.' Ms. Menendez conflated the Muslim and Hindu faiths in her comments to the police and in her target for attack, officials said."

We have reported earlier on Pamela Geller's anti-Islam advertising campaign on the New York subway, a campaign that has deliberately attempted to generate racist fear and hatred.

Defending their right to be as offensive as possible to Muslims, Geller et al constantly claim the right to 'freedom of speech'.

Imraan Siddiqi of CAIR, who runs the Stop Islamophobia Now website, took this up on Twitter: "Since when did the subway become the existential battleground, which to fight ones' ideological battles?"

Islam was responsible for murder of US ambassador in Libya, claims Tennessee Republican

on Tuesday, September 25, 2012

Islam is relentlessly evangelical and has insatiable imperial designs. It authorizes and encourages the advancement of its goals by any means available, from deceit to outright murder – as just occurred at our embassy in Libya. Because the political doctrine of Islam has growing adverse impact on "non-believers" worldwide, non-Muslims have every right to comment accordingly.

Islam and Muslims demand religious criticism to be a one-way street. They can criticize others, but others should submit to them and keep silent. No other religion but Islam so vehemently criticizes other metaphysical and theological systems. Hence, Muslims forfeit the right to protest when others criticize Islam.

Quite disgracefully, The Tennessean provides a platform for anti-Muslim extremist Vijay Kumar to promote his hate-filled paranoia about Islam.

Unsurprisingly, Kumar is much admired by Pamela Geller, who in 2010 enthusiastically supported his bid to be adopted as a Republican congressional candidate in Tennessee. Kumar reciprocated by contributing an article to Geller's Atlas Shrugs blog titled "The Muslim mosque: A state within a state".

Marine Le Pen tells Jerusalem Post that Sarkozy has encouraged 'fundamentalists', claims UOIF has called for murder of Jews

on Friday, April 13, 2012

Marine Le Pen, the National Front candidate for the French presidential election, accused rival President Nicolas Sarkozy of having sent "a simple message" when some Islamists were arrested on French territory, after French forces assaulted Mohamed Merah's house last month. Le Pen was speaking at a press conference with foreign journalists in her campaign headquarters at Nanterre, west of Paris.

Responding to a question from The Jerusalem Post, following the surprising absence of mentions in electoral debates of the shootings in the southern French town of Toulouse, Le Pen criticized Sarkozy, calling his crackdown on Islamists "merely electoral agitation after the Merah affair."

"A few arrested Islamists and that is all... [Sarkozy] is not dealing with the real problem of fundamentalism, although he has been in charge of national security for the past 10 years." For Le Pen, Sarkozy, like his predecessors, "deliberately downplayed the threat from Islamists who want to see France as we know it disappear in favor of Shari'a."

Going further, she accused her main rival for the voice of the right wing to have even "opened the door to the UOIF (militant Muslim organization in France) who called for the murder of Jews". "He provided the first steps to the ladder for the fundamentalists in France and internationally," she said.
