Members of a Muslim family whose house was shot at during a drive-by Thursday evening think they were targeted because of their faith.

Tuesday, a stranger driving by Allie and Maryam Taghavi's home in southwest Oklahoma City stopped and asked their 21-year-old son the family's religion.

A large sign hung on the porch and visible from the road said, "as-salamu alaykum," an Arabic phrase often used by Muslims meaning "peace be with you."

Without any suspicion, their son told the stranger they were Muslim, Allie Taghavi said. The stranger then drove away.

Then, two days later on Thursday evening, Allie Taghavi was home with three of his adult children when shots were fired around 7:45 p.m. from a car driving south on S Olie Avenue near their home at SW 30. "I screamed when I heard the shots, but it was so rapid ... like firecrackers," he said.

Allie Taghavi ran from his bedroom into his 23-year-old daughter's room where a bullet had come through the east side of their house, piercing a wall a few feet away from where she was sitting at her computer desk.

Seconds later, shots were fired into the bedroom just to the south where Allie Taghavi had been. One bullet crossed the width of his bedroom and passed into a bathroom where it lodged in the wall.

No one was injured in the incident. The family fled its home after police cleared the scene a few hours later. Family members said they don't plan to return.

Police Master Sgt. Gary Knight said Oklahoma City's gang unit is investigating the incident because it was reported as a drive-by shooting. Police responded to a call about multiple rounds being fired into the home from a car driving south on S Olie Avenue.

Two bullet holes were found in the home. No one had been arrested as of Friday evening.

Standing in Denver's main mosque on Christmas Eve, Christian, Muslim and Jewish community leaders launched an ad campaign promoting understanding and tolerance between the religious groups. "Love Thy Neighbor" ads on Denver buses are intended to combat anti-Muslim ads produced by the American Freedom Defense Initiative. The controversial group attracted attention with hateful posters in New York subways and DC metro stations.

The Colorado Muslim Society paid $5,000 for the "Love Thy Neighbor" ads, which focus on love as "a shared concept in the three religions." Other religious leaders and interfaith groups then publicly embraced the message:

They said the ad they unveiled — at a time on the calendar devoted to love and understanding — is meant to respond to recent national tragedies and to replace anti-Muslim ads placed on buses last month.

"Our country is in the midst of a lot of divisions," Temple Emanuel Senior Rabbi Joe Black said. "Hatred is only going to further violence and the breakdown of society."

Denver's tolerance initiative follows the lead of many faith groups around the country protesting the Islamophobic ads. The Denver ads proclaim: "9,757 Deadly Islamic Attacks Since 9/11/01. It's Not Islamophobia. It's Islamorealism." Colorado's religious leaders also stood together in solidarity after the 9/11 attacks in 2001.

Public renunciation of anti-Muslim bigotry is much needed, as hate crimes against Muslims have held steady at a record high. Meanwhile, anti-Islamic rhetoric has become commonplace in mainstream media.

As the result, 22000 territorial army of Musailma had been killed while Muslims lost 1200 precious lives of the soldiers that includes around 600 Qaris, Distingushed soldiers of Badr, Huffaz and companions of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

In order to appreciate and understand the willpower of Muslims, you need to remember that throughout the life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), He had lost 259 precious lives battling for the respect and honor of Islam and ALLAH. On the other hand, Kuffar, the non believers of Islam, had suffered with 759 casualities. In short, Hazrat Abu Bakr (RA) decreed that the imposters of Prophet (SAW) should not spread evil in the country. So, He ordered His companions that they should not rest until the elimination of evil from their country. This decision was accepted and so endorsed by the companions that Hazrat Umar (RA) offered a replacement with Hazrat Abu Bakr (RA). He said that:

“I will exchange all good deeds of my life time for your acts of one night and one day. One night from those three nights you spent with Rasool Allah(SAW) in the Cave of Thaur and one day from the days of battles against impostor Prophets to guard the Finality of Muhammad(SAW).” 

Obviously, it is our obligation and responsibility to defend and struggle for the “Finality of Prophet Muhammad (SAW)” and should not entertain the argues of fake Prophet and Messiahs who appear time to time.

Last night's protest on Thurnby Lodge estate – spot the fascistA series of late-night protests have been staged against a faith group's plan to convert a disused Scout hut in Leicester into a community centre.

Dozens of police have been stationed in Thurnby Lodge estate for the past few nights to oversee the peaceful demonstrations, which at their height have attracted up to 150 people.

Residents said they were angry the former Scout hut in Nursery Road looked likely to become a community centre operated by Islamic charity the As-Salaam Trust.

They would like the building, which has been empty for several years, to be developed for the wider community. They are also concerned about extra traffic the centre might create.

Opponents have held their protests outside the estate's main community centre, in Thurncourt Road, where As-Salaam's members have been meeting for prayers for the past two-and-a-half years. They said the city council had not asked them for their views on the future use of the Scout hut. Some support a proposal to set up a boxing club in the building.

Maxine Williams, manager of the Stirrup Cup pub, has been taking part in the demonstrations. She said: "People are protesting because they feel that they have not been consulted and that the council has handed the keys to the Scout hut to As-Salaam. There is a lot of concern about the amount of traffic that it will bring and that people's peace will be shattered."

City mayor Sir Peter Soulsby was due to meet a group of residents today. He said: "As-Salaam has been meeting in the area for some time and was looking for a permanent home. "If the people who are interested in opening a boxing club can establish themselves, we will help them find suitable premises. "However, our view was they were a long way from being in a position to take this building on."

Mohammed Lockhat, As-Salaam's imam, said: "If we could sit down together and talk, we would be able to understand each other better. "People have said they are concerned about traffic, but most of the people would be walking to the Scout hut because they live here."

The Scout Association told the city council in September last year that it wanted to end its lease of the hut. The council said it then contacted more than 100 community groups which had told it they were looking for premises.

Of the groups that expressed an interest, As Salaam was the only one that could meet the lease criteria agreed with the Scout Association, the council said in a leaflet which was delivered to homes on the estate last week.

A police spokeswoman said: "The police have a legal duty to facilitate a peaceful protest and have no powers to stop a demonstration."

The modern societies we are living in nowadays are based on one primary aspect which revolves around “Work and Money”. This has become a huge problem because when people spend their entire lives striving to earn more and more money they end up not having sufficient quality time with their family, relatives and friends, and most importantly with God and the tendency to learn Islam. It does not only stop here, and people actually start to believe the fact that wealth brings happiness therefore more wealth increases ones state of happiness.

As a matter of fact wealth is not equivalent to happiness by any means, and when we learn Islam it would be proven more accurately. Another evidence to show this would be by examining the lifestyles of the rich soap operas ‘and other billionaires in the world along with the wealth of the people who commit suicide in the west everyday! A common factor that can be analyzed is that they are desperate and unhappy in spite of the fact that they have a lot of wealth which can buy absolutely anything they need in this world!

Also it’s not uncommon to note that there are Muslims who work effortlessly by neglecting their daily prayers in order to earn money and are also afflicted with depression, sadness etc. Therefore the only and the best solution to overcome this problem would be to learn Islam and determine the way by which we should live our lives. The preliminary change that we all must undertake is to ensure that we never give primary concern towards work and secondary concern towards establishing obligatory prayers. By doing so, we could not only see the fruits of our efforts in this world but we would also save ourselves from being touched by the Hell Fire. This is because the fire of hell would not burn the places of our body which used to prostrate (in sujud) towards Allah on the day of resurrection,

Some Muslims could claim that they do not pray in the workplace because there is no proper place for them to do so and also because it would make them look odd since no one else is doing so. The easiest way to refute such a claim could be done when we learn Islam and know that the hadith says this whole world is a place of prayer except graveyards and toilets. As a result there is no valid reason for somebody to claim that their office environment is not suitable to offer prayers as long as there is no filth or other garbage piled up therein!

Regarding the fact that other Muslims do not pray, could be refuted even more easily by examining this simple logic. For instance if there is a competition where the first three people are offered brand new limousines, would there by a single person who would not want to take part in such a competition? Similarly it’s not possible for a person who believes in Allah and the Last Day to say that they do not pray because others do not do so. This is in fact a trap from the devil, who has been warned against several times in the Qur’an.

Barack Obama himself has never had the guts to say it.

Indeed, while it is famously difficult to prove a negative, it seems apparent that few people in all of politics and media have had the guts to say it. Did John McCain ever say it? Did Rick Santorum or Bill O'Reilly?

So let us plant a little flag for, mark with a yellow highlighter, the thing Rep. Raul Labrador said Sunday on Meet The Press: that "it wouldn't matter" if President Obama were a Muslim. And if it seems rather much to be handing out medals for such a modest statement of principle, well . . . the principle has been under fire for so long that even a modest statement feels momentous.

In recent years, public figures have made news for refuting (like McCain) or failing to refute (like Santorum) the canard that Obama is a follower of Islam. But outside of Colin Powell, who did so a few years back on Meet The Press, it is difficult to think of many – or any – who have dared to confront the notion implicit in the lie. Namely, that being a Muslim is incompatible with being an American.
