Islam is the 2nd largest religion of the world, and its followers are increasing day by day. This is a good sign, but the threat is that some Muslims show hatred towards the west, and this hatred often becomes the cause of conflict between the Muslims and the west.

This is a very serious issue, and very deep research is needed to get to the root of the problem as maintaining peace in the world would not be that easy with the existence of hatred.

The western culture provides all citizens with complete freedom to live their lives they way they want. There is no law to control one’s personal life. You are not bound by anyone, and you can live they way you like. In the western civilization, the concept of God exists, and people can call him in their prayers.

When it comes to Muslims, things are entirely opposite. Muslims believe in oneness of God, and getting the pleasure of God is the most important thing for a Muslim. When Muslims observe such ignorance of God by the western people, quite naturally, they start hating their ideas, and that leads them to hate the westerns.

This is just a simple example. As a matter of fact, the ideas of Muslims and the Western people are exactly opposite as far as religion and general ethics are concerned. West has a culture which allows them full freedom, whereas Muslims are bound by the teachings of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W) and those of the Holy Quran. For Muslims, a better life in the coming world is important while westerns try to seize all pleasure in this lifetime. Due to such differences in the ideas and mental approaches, there is a mutual hate between the two being discussed here.

If we peep into the annals of history, we see that it was Islam that came after Christianity, and from that time to this time, Christians have been trying to eliminate the followers of Islam and the religion itself as they consider it necessary for their own survival. Due to this, from the 6th century to this century, they have always made efforts to get rid of Islam. These efforts of them have given rise to the hatred in the Muslims. Moreover, the actions such as drawing the cartoons of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W), the burning of Holy Quran and other actions of disrespect and the attitude of the Government of western areas regarding these actions is what makes Muslims hate the western people.

There is a large number of Muslims in the Western countries especially America, most of whom came from places like Southern Asia, Iran and Arabic speaking countries. The question is, can they be true Muslims in these western countries? A number of western countries have lax cultures that could be off putting to a strict Muslim person(s).

An example is, a strict outstanding Muslim family values the dress code especially for women, clothes that go well over to the knees are favored to preserve respect in their women folk. In the western culture however, people dress according to what they feel like, the weather condition they find themselves in, among other factors. For example, in some parts of the US, especially Miami, you will find people dressed in only shorts for men, and a two piece swim suit for the ladies, or extremely short shorts and dresses.

On the other hand, since most western countries offer diversity to their people, it is left up to the Muslim on whether or not they choose to remain true to their religion. There are a number of Muslim social centers, mosques and Muslim cultural sites all over the west which aim at keeping a staunch Muslim close to his or her Muslim culture, or practice.

It may be a little hard especially for the weak Muslim in the west to follow through with their culture. This could be attributed to the fact that they may want to fit in with the new society they find themselves in. Major examples are the Muslim children especially the teenagers. If they find themselves in a non-Muslim only school, then to help them not feel discriminated from the rest of the crowd at school, they tend to follow the western trends. For example, in order not to have to explain their Ramadan season, and why they are fasting, they will opt to say that they are on a diet, which will be likely to raise less eye-brows from their peers.

For the teenage girls, much as they may come from strict Muslim upbringing, some tend to copy their western peers in order to avoid the bullying that comes with being different or in order to fit in with the rest of the crowd. It can come as no surprise to find a teenage Muslim girl, leaving her parent’s or guardian’s home in a Muslim attire, and carrying a spare to change into before they reach school, the spare is normally what is on the trend in terms of the girls fashion, which could be a short version than what they are expected to wear.

For the Muslims especially teenagers who are determined to remain true to their religion however, can still do so in the west. There are a number of organizations that are set up to help Muslims remain true to their religion and practices. Parents are also opting to take their children to all Muslim schools so that the Muslim culture can be instilled in them and avoid being affected by the west culture.

Today, many Muslims due to their wrong actions and sins, they continually lack prosperity. One needs the latest technology and the other needs to be a modern individual. Today youngsters are totally following other cultures in a dream to become modern and fashionable. They have forgotten the basic rules and principles of Islam.

As we know that every coin has two sides, same as the latest technology has both positive, as well as, negative aspects. Electronic media is a medium that keeps us in touch with the latest news around the world. While sitting at our home, we know what is happening on other parts of the world. It is also the best means of communication that allows us to communicate with our loved ones easily. Electronic media has made our lives much faster and comfortable, but at the same time, it is continually damaging our young generation.

There are various channels that usually show other cultures and traditions. They develop a thinking that non-Muslims culture is better to most of the young generation. Today, one of the most alarming situations is that of the young Muslim generations who totally forget their religion.

Sadly, unfortunately, whatever you say it has been a long time since the reputation of Islam has been destroyed among the whole world due to terrorism. The people of the West show their hatred feelings against Muslims by protesting against them, sometimes burning the Holy Quran, sometimes by making films against them, and other times by drawing sketches of Holy Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W). People of the West think that Islamic societies are religiously oppressed compared to their own democracies. Because of all these misunderstandings, peace has whipped out between them.

Peace could only be kept among the two communities by strict punishment of those people who are found guilty. In this way, the brotherly relations between the communities could be made. Moreover, any community should not attack any religion. Everyone should keep their own faith.

Can Islam survive in the West? It was not a question before, but due to the recent attacks the hatred feelings started in the West against the Muslims.

Especially after the 9/11 attacks and Boston attacks, when several innocent people lost their lives, were major reason to hate Muslims. People who are doing this just want to spoil the name of Islam among the whole world. They just use religion for the cause of terrorism. They should be ashamed of themselves of what they are doing. Any person found guilty in this case should be strictly punished. This thing will satisfy the West that Islam is a peace loving religion and strongly opposes killing of innocent people. Now, people of  the West are scared of Muslims. Muslims followers do not get jobs in the West as they think that it could be risky. Muslim students studying in the West have problems in making friends, and they lonely. Moreover, the Western people do not respect Muslims worship places.

This is because of those people who want to destroy the peace in the world, and brotherly relations between communities. They do not care if there is a child or an old man or woman; they come with the mindset of killing people. Many sole earners of poor families are killed; children do not come back home, and whole life of parent’s passes in crying in memories of their love one’s. Pakistan and Afghanistan are the affected areas where people listens the sound of bombs and firing daily.

Countries affected by terrorism should be given help by other countries so that one day it would totally finish. Islam can survive in the West, and will survive in the West because a Muslim is not a terrorist but they just use the name of Islam, and one day surely people would see Muslims as like others. Both communities and the whole world should be united against terrorism and end it as early as possible so that one day the whole world will be a place of peace and comfort.

It is very prominent that, discrimination towards Muslims is increasing day by day. In the recent past, it has reached on the summit of mount Everest. The time has come to do something to minimize such hatred but is there anything really present in this world which can bring these two almost opponent ideologies united together?

What will you call such behavior where, every Muslim is treated near to a terrorist? Have anyone experienced persecution on western airports just because of being a Muslim? Many of you will say yes, I know. In all European countries including UK and in USA, Islam is the second or the third largely practiced religion everywhere. Still some countries ban wearing hijab, others humiliate people wearing so. What name you will give to such treatment? As you are ill treating a particular group, like you did towards Negroes throughout centuries, why not it is also named “Racism”?

We, Muslims are hopeful that, as the literal racism abolished, one day, discrimination and intolerance towards Muslims will also vanish. To make this possible, people from every corner, of any culture and religion, should try to know individual Muslims. Yes, all Muslims admit that, terrorists are anti socialist. There is no chance of terrorism or extremism in Islam. Every Muslim hates such extremists as others do. It is not justifiable that, the definition of terrorism or extremism is another name of Islam. It is as wrong as when people used to think, the sun is moving around the earth. If native western people take some steps to change their view towards Muslims, then it can be possible, so from Muslims also. The very first step towards this mission is to stop thinking every Muslim Laden.

With respect to each other, understanding every point of view and helping the promotion of Muslims rights can minimize this poison developed between Muslims and the west. Native people should shed of all prejudice and ensure the freedom on their fellow Musolmans.

Many Muslim renowned people are there on earth and in western countries, who have become a very important person as celebrities in their field of work. Some of them are also in politics. They should take care of these issues starting from the state levels. Such representatives can enforce laws to reduce these intolerances and can work on increasing public awareness in conservative ways. Both sides have the freedom of expression, but that should not enhance violence. Research says, education can give pace on such missions, so it should be practiced in every house, and school to maintain a good bonding with Muslims. As there are thousands of organizations in humanitarian grounds, international organization and NGOs should be built on this ‘prevent religious discrimination’ ground. These organizations can emphasize on promoting cultural & religious harmony in the west.

An attempt has been taken a long time ago in the year of 2007 in Spain, a conference held where more than 300 participants, international organizations, NGOs and many elite of Muslim intolerance issues were present. They gave priorities on promoting Muslim-West mutual understanding to reduce racism. Though, we haven’t got any fruitful result from them, still we are hoping to get such a spring devoid of western racism towards Muslims.

The West, being the most developed part of the world, is globally regarded as an insignia of a successful life. It does not only accommodate natives in a graceful manner but also warmly welcomes foreigners to get benefitted from its prosperity stream.

In the same context, west is a land of prospects for Muslims, too. Only in the UK, Muslims are a great majority. Though they are facing hard times in some countries like France, yet they are free to live according to their religion in most of the western countries. Since Islam is the fastest growing religion here, it is evident that Muslims are provided with an environment which helps them practice Islam. It offers them a fine living experience with a handful of opportunities to grow both in the academic and professional streams. Those Muslims, who have western citizenship, are entitled to all the benefits offered by the government without any discrimination.

Muslims can live a very successful life in west. They can enjoy financial freedom since western society is the most developed. When Western Muslims are inquired about what so special they enjoy being a part of this society; they answer with a smiling face – equal opportunity. They are provided full support to be a successful and effective member of society and through this factor are encouraged to go ahead in life. They can enjoy a career oriented life where there is full job satisfaction; continual training and development leading towards career growth.

West helps through its influential platform a Muslim researcher to advance further in his respective area of study. Western research based program and projects are indeed a gateway for Muslim to earn global recognition for their intellect and wisdom.

Nowadays, west takes a more broad view of Islamic art and thought. Indeed, the age is past when oriental bias promulgated hatred against the West. Today, western scholars consider Islam as a growing factor in the light of its own teachings. Historians of religion contribute much time and space to the development of Islamic thought, which is fascinating in all its glory.

The ”open the door” policy started by the west has encouraged Muslims to settle there. Now the west stands not as a grim prospect hindering the growth of Islam. West, on the other hand, has helped in the democratization of Islam, and has enabled it to realize its own potentialities.

Orientalism and Occidentalism are now being reconciled to produce a harmony, and the west is playing a key role in sustaining this blended identity. As a Muslim, one finds the works, considered as a magnum opus in their respective ages, preserved in full form in Western libraries. Respecting the Islamic limitation on promiscuous intermingling, as a consequence of co-education, western societies and groups are helping Muslim communities to build separate schools, where education is imparted on equal footings.

Our only hope of peace is a world where tolerance is practiced, and tolerance is possible only if we learn to remove our mutual differences. If we can bridge the gap between the Western world and Islam, we can build a world where love and peace prevail.

Islam has complete knowledge of everything. When Allah created this world, 124000 messengers were sent along with holy verses to guide human beings about how to survive in the world. Before Islam, 123999 prophets were sent by Allah to deliver the message of blessing to people. As stated in all religions, human beings are the most wise creature of Allah and Allah has blessed them with everything to sense and judge very well but still there are some limitations, rules and regulations which are implemented by God on all human beings through his special people known as the Prophets. As changes occur on earth and the growth of population, Allah sent his messengers with different ways for spending this life and to guide people towards what is good and avoid what is bad for them. There are four religions preached by the prophets of God and by the arrival of a new religion, the old one was said to be void for people , but all  religions had the similar message from Allah to the followers. But the people of this world denied this void fact , and they kept following old verses and old religions which is against the obedience of Allah.

Most of the countries occupying the west side of the world are comprising the Christian religion, which is the second last religion revealed by Allah and has been abolished by the arrival of Islam. Muslims are the people who follow Islam and are considered as a good nation in the sight of Allah; that is why Allah has given them the power of everything. Muslims are known as the most wise nation which are sophisticated, well mannered and most literate. Muslims are the fathers of every technology developed nowadays with the variation of modernism. As a building and its balance totally depends on its base, similarly Muslims and their inventions are the base of today’s sciences. Everything that is used by a common user was first invented by Muslim scientists and inventors.

Allah has created this world. Allah has created each and every person and all things present in this world. That is why I will not say that Muslims should learn something from the west, no not at all. Muslims should only learn their religion Islam with full passion, and attention where everything is taught.

In the wide terms, it is observed that the western countries are known as developed countries. Christians have each and everything needed for spending a good life, but that’s not truth. The founders of education were Muslims, the founder of every science, the basics of the machines which are used and help mankind and create comforts are all based on Muslim’s inventions. Islam is the only religion which allows to seek, think and act. Muslims are ordered to learn and produce. Islam tells Muslims to discover and invent, Islam believes in charity, harmony and brotherhood, Islam has given orders to maintain and keep cleanliness. Islam is the complete package of instructions which tells everyone what to do and how to do it. Muslims do not have to learn anything form the west. They just have to learn Islam and Quran.

Have you ever been a victim of Racism or Racists comments? Do you really know what racism is? Have you ever thought of the steps you can take to tackle such a situation? There are people who try to ignore racists comments, while there are others who respond to them aggressively, but what actually can be called as a balanced reply, no one knows. The way of reaction or response depends on the situation and the surroundings that you have to deal with, so you may think that your response is good enough at one situation, but in another circumstances, your response may not get the same appreciation and may face a harsh reply, as well. So what you should do to handle the racist attacks.

First of all, you have to analyze the situation and then give your remarks. The best thing is not to retaliate to any infuriating or hurtful behavior. If you retaliate with any cruel words or gesture, then the other person will not get affected by it. They will just keep the same behavior as they have before. So when they are behaving to you in a negative way then you should not reply the same if you do so then you are equally responsible, because God ordered to avoid hatred even for enemies.

Another option that you can do in such a situation is to ask them about their reasons for using such words? You can question the words that they use. This way you will be able to know what are their intentions and how much poison they have in their heart and mind. You can also tell them about your internal reaction and how you feel about their comments. Tell them clearly that you don’t like it , and their jokes or comments hurt you a lot.

A very important point, when reacting to the racists comments, is not to get angry on their comments because the basic purpose of those comments are to make you feel angry as they try to drive you to do something silly. So you must control your emotions, stay calm and let it go. This will have an impact on the person because he will be unable to attain his purpose. So next time when he wants to address someone with racist comments, he will think twice.

One more and better option is not to indulge into any kind of debate or exchange of hatred words. You should try to compliment him/her on anything. You can say, nice beard, or nice shirt, or just simply I love you mate. This will have an instant impact on the person and his mentality. He will defiantly think of his behavior and you may become a reason for a change in his attitude, and he might start thinking positively and stop making racist comments.

Since more than a decade, the image of Islam is terribly destroyed, especially in the Western world. We all know the war against terrorism, which is more widely known as a war against Islam. The Muslims extremists who are spreading terrorism all around the world are just plain men, who are using Islam as an excuse just to spread terrorism and violence. Their motto is only to rule and conquer the world, and it has nothing to do with the divine religion Islam.

If we look at the history, we see there were many groups and tribes who used religion as an excuse to spread terrorism, but the Muslim extremists have caused chaos all around the world and caused damage in the image of Islam.

The people of the west consider Islam as a synonym to terrorism. This is a sad and heart wrenching reality and Muslims have to work a lot harder to restore the reputation of their peaceful religion. The Islamic extremist groups such as the Taliban, Al Qaeda, and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi have killed many innocent lives. Let’s not forget about the 9/11 and the pentagon attacks. There were many other incidents in the western world which all witnessed Islamic extremists being involved in the attacks.

Not just in the west, but also in the east, these extremists have attacked many Muslims. The situation of Pakistan and Afghanistan is a major live example in front of us. Almost daily we hear bomb blasts reported in a specific region of these nations and how many people were killed and injured.

In the west, people hate Islam and are scared of the Muslims followers. People have shown their insecurity and hatred to this religion by taking out rallies, doing protests, by burning the Quran ( The Holy book of Muslims) and drawing negative portraits of Prophet Muhammad. Many pages and sites have also been created on the social networking websites.

The people of the west are very scared of Muslims; if they see a man with bear they quickly evacuate the area. They don’t like their friends or colleagues to be Muslims. Muslims living in the west have a tough time looking for jobs as many employers don’t accept them and reject their CVs; no matter how much they are qualified. Muslim students studying at western universities always find themselves alone as they don’t have many friends. There are mosques constructed in the west but the call for Azan prayers is not allowed. Sometimes when other people cross by the Mosques, they usually play music at high volume or use abusive language.

The western people have a very bad perception about Islam. It is highly needed this negative perceptions as whatever they think about Islam is not true. Islam can survive in the west if Muslims will come forward and take a step in the restoration of its image. The English translation of Quran should be read to know the true teachings of Islam. There are many small committees who are working hard in restoring the image of Islam. They are giving small seminars and are publishing a magazine which highlights all the positive aspects of Islam. Websites are being uploaded and many pages and sites are created showcasing a good image of Islam.

As I said in the end of the last post, I have decided to adopt a new point of view when looking on the East and West struggle and the misconceptions between them both, so instead of stating how wrong does the West view us Arabs, i will address the Arabs and the East this time, and how wrongfully the Arabs view the West, and America specifically. Because if you think that only the West has misconceptions of us, then you are terribly wrong, we Arabs also have a hefty set of misconceptions about the West, and how Arabs view the west and I will discuss them on this post.

One of the very famous misconceptions that some Arabs have regarding the West is that it is the land of sins!! You go to the west, and you will be able to indulge yourself in all kinds of sins in the world. And this is not that true, yes there are various places where you can pick your favorite sin, whether its drugs, prostitution or others, but this doesn’t mean that the whole country is like that. They have this concept, whether you agree with it or not, but they got freedom in everything, no one will force you to commit anything and you are free to do whatever you want providing that you don’t hurt the freedom of others.

If you think about it, you will find the same kinds of sins in Arab countries, but it is more hidden, you want drugs, you will find, you want women, you will find, but we just tend to hide it so people don’t see us doing it. Bottom of line, sin exists, whether it’s a conservative or an opened community, whoever wants to indulge himself in a specific sin, will find a way. So it is very unfair to judge a whole country’s population because some of them do something wrong. It is the same way how we blame the west for stereotyping us, so we should stop stereotyping them, everyone should judge the person he meets judging on the person himself, not where he is from or what his religion is.

Another misconception that is very common of how Arabs view the west, is that Arabs think that every single American is an Arab Hater, which is of course, not true, I have a lot of friends in the U.S, despite having some of the cultural misconceptions about us (camels and caves) but they don’t hate us or want to annihilation us.

If you have been reading the previous posts, you will notice that the whole misconception problem between the East and the West is an endless loop, their misconceptions and stereotyping towards us causes us to view them wrongfully, and we act according to it in a way which supports their misconceptions, you see what I am getting to? This is why this loop needs to be broken, this can be done through educations and research, whether you are from the East or form the West, go online, meet different people, build your judgments as a result of a personal experience. Try to tell others about what you have found. This is why I am doing this, I am trying to do my little part to break the chain and offer the real point of view to help break the stereotyping loop between the West and the East.
