Tahrir square is full of angry people and Morsi is ignoring the opposition

on Saturday, December 15, 2012

Egyptians continue to participate in demonstrations against President Mohamed Morsi’s decisions, and some politicians said that he can not remain in his position anymore, after the Muslim Brotherhood members attacked the protesters in front of the presidential palace, while the president remained silent. Islamists are still asking their supporters to go out in demonstrations to show the world that Morsi’s decisions are meeting the people’s consent, but it became obvious that Morsi’s supporters are only those who are members in Islamic movements or parties. Egyptians are still in Tahrir square for the 23rd day, hoping to change reality, knowing that the vote on the new constitution will start tomorrow morning.

These young men in Tahrir square worked hard to force President Morsi to cancel the referendum or delay it, and to re-form a committee that should contain members from all parties and groups to write a new constitution. Some of the people in Tahrir square insist that Morsi should step down like President Mubarak, as they believe that he is responsible for the death of their colleagues in front of Ittehadeya palace, when the Muslim Brotherhood members attacked the peaceful protesters and removed their tents, besides using guns to force them to leave the area. Such violence resulted in eight dead bodies and more than 700 injuries.

The National Salvation Front asked Egyptians to vote with “NO” on the new constitution, because it guarantees having a new dictator and a society with no rights or freedom. The new constitution does not prohibit the work of children under 15 years old, as it allows a child’s family to let him work as long as this won’t affect his studies, which is something no one can measure.

The new constitution also gives the president the right to appoint the Supreme Lawyer of the people, in addition to appointing the judges of the Constitutional Court, which is the highest judicial authority in Egypt. Such rights given to the president makes Egyptians believe that the judicial system will be following the regime and it will not be independent to save the rights of the people.

On the other side, the Islamists say that this new constitution is giving Egyptians more rights and freedom, even more than any other constitution in the world. They are now preparing to gather people from all over Egypt to go to the voting centers and vote “YES” for the new constitution.

Tahrir square still full of angry people, and this is a sign that they won’t leave until the change they want is taking place. Some of the people in Tahrir square died, while others were badly injured, and this is forcing the protesters not to leave their place until the change they want is happening.

Egypt’s Morsi preparing for the referendum and the army is involved

on

The Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi called the Egyptians to vote on a new constitution prepared by a Committee that witnessed serious conflicts between the supporters of the president and the opposition. Egypt has been witnessing marches or demonstrations by the opposition since 20 days, in Tahrir Square and in front of Ittihadya Palace, where President Morsi is managing the leading Arab country.

Such call for referendum is expected to lead to deadly confrontation between the supporters and the opposition, after Egypt witnessed clashes between the Muslim Brotherhood members and other citizens who are against Morsi’s decisions, knowing that such clashes led to 7 dead bodies among them one MB member, in addition to more than 700 injuries.

Moreover, President Morsi gave the army what is called “Judicial arrest rights”, so that Egypt’s army can play a role in securing the referendum and help the Ministry of Interior to control the tough situation. Months back, President Morsi criticized the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces when it gave the same right to the army officers to secure the presidential elections; however, Morsi is now doing the same thing.

Politicians in Egypt refused that the army would be part of the political conflicts, but it seems that Morsi insists to push the army to face the opposition in the streets. Liberals, leftists and other opposition parties called for demonstrations in all the Egyptian governorates today, while the Islamists called for two demonstrations in Cairo, so that they can show support for the President’s decisions and for the new constitution.

Morsi’s decision to make the referendum on December 15 without having a national dialogue, angered the opposition leaders, such as Mohamed Baradie, Hamdeen Sabahy and Amr Mousa. They insist on cancelling the referendum and re-creating a constitution committee that represent all Egyptians to write a new constitution, without domination from the Islamists on the committee’s decisions.

Furthermore, the Egyptian army is now securing the Presidential Palace, hoping to stop the protesters from getting near to it, but such trials failed in the last week’s demonstrations as the protesters made it through the fences and reached to the gates of the palace. Islamists such as Khayrat Al Shater and Hazem Salah Abu Ismaiel warned the protesters from getting near the palace and said they would go to the streets with thousands to protect the president and the palace. Such threats were said despite the protesters did not try to break into the palace in last week’s demonstrations and their peaceful attitude was seen all the time, except when the MB members attacked them and removed their tents near Ittihadya Palace.

The National Salvation Front is warning the Islamists from more clashes as it will lead to a civil war, while the president is ignoring the demands of Tahrir Square and calling all Egyptians to participate in the referendum next Saturday. The army said in a statement that all sides should have negotiations to avoid further troubles, but the opposition refused to meet President Morsi, and after Egyptians were killed on Wednesday, and they said that having a dialogue with the President should come after canceling the referendum.

Is Muhammad Morsi a New Dictator?

on Monday, December 10, 2012

Since the revolt in the country, Egypt has been facing a crisis. There have been many protests, but the situation is getting worse in the country. Muhammad Morsi, who was named the new President of Egypt just a few months ago, has presented some new laws that the people of Egypt and the opposition are not willing to accept. Under these laws, it has been stated that no one can challenge the powers of President Morsi, which has created extreme unrest in the country. The people have come to protest on the streets and reject the new laws presented by the president.

The opposition leaders told the media that these laws will certainly affect the law and order situation of the country, and these protest will lead the country to more darkness. The opposition leaders and the liberal Muslim leaders have asked Morsi to revoke these laws as to not create more political uncertainty in the country. The referendum is going to be held this Saturday in Egypt. Fortunately, Morsi has decided not to delay the referendum, which will be decisive for his presidential seat.

Last weekend, a lot of new rallies gathered outside the palace of the president demanding a drop of this constitutional amendment that leads his authority away from the judicial scrutiny. Further, the opposition is not ready to stick to just this demand, but they are also demanding the referendum that is going to beheld this upcoming weekend. Analysts are viewing this as a battle between the Islamic leadership and the secular minded leaders.

According to a news paper in the country, it has been said that Muhammad Morsi will take the help of armed forces in the states where opposition is strong. The armed forces will take charge of the law and order situation unless the constitutional amendments are approved by the parliament. The military forces are also concerned about the security situation in the country.

We can say that this is a fight between the new Islamic brotherhood and the liberal minded leadership in the country. According to Islamic brotherhood, liberal parties have much less support from the people, and they are hoping to approve the constitutional amendments with a majority. But in case the parliament is unable to pass these amendments, there will be a big question mark regarding the democracy in this country.

Mohammad Morsi and the Conflict in Egypt

on Friday, December 7, 2012

Egypt has been facing many political problems over the last few years. The conflicts and violence began when there were protests against the government of Hosni Mubarak due to injustice and harassment. After him, the army council took command and they did not have the intention to rule for a long period, and preferred the civilian government. Then elections were held, but the lower parliament declared that they were illegal. The army council dissolved the lower parliament in which most of the people were Muslims and they favored Mohammad Morsi as their new president. There were also many controversies over the selection of Morsi: Many people, especially the secular and liberal-minded, were against him.

This political conflict generated a few clashes and there were protests against him. In a clash between the supporters and protesters, about 66 people were injured and one was killed. The people protesting against him thought that the president’s policies were the same as those of Hosni Mubarak, their ex-president. The supporters of the president began to protest against the high court and also blocked the judges from entering the building by surrounding it. This step prevented the judges from drawing up the nation’s constitution and dissolved the shore council – the upper house of parliament. The judges decided not to work unless this physical and psychological pressure stopped. They also declared that day to be “a dismal, black day” in the history of the judiciary.

A day before violence erupted, the president announced that the referendum for the constitution would be held. This led the people to the streets, both for and against him. The believers in human rights are against the referendum system as it is the only inconsistent, ambiguous, and flawed plan for voting. But this announcement of holding the constitutional referendum brought a positive change in the Egyptian stock exchange market. There was a rise of about 2.5% in only 15 minutes, earning 8.2 million dollars (5 billion pounds). The president had discussed drafting a system for civil, gender, and religious rights, and a justice system. The United Nations also advised reconsidering the draft according to international human rights. Now, the whole nation of Egypt is protesting against the new president and they want him to leave the country. The protests are becoming stronger day by day. The army has taken steps to stop these protests and thousands of people have been killed as a result. The new president of Egypt is not ready to accept the demands of the opposition.  Therefore, this condition may become more serious in Egypt.

Who is responsible for this conflict and dispute in Egypt? The policies of the new president are responsible for this. The people of Egypt want to see a change in the policies. They want to eliminate the policies of Hosni Mubarak, their ex-president.

Morsi , Obama and the beginning of the political relation between the two countries

on Sunday, October 7, 2012

“Egypt is not our ally but we don’t consider it as our enemy” this what president Obama said when he asked about the relation between the U.S government and Egyptian government also president Obama said that “they are new government and they will take time to find there right way to deal with other countries this may caused a hard time between the two governments”.

The days before many Egyptians went to the U.S embassy in Cairo because of a movie insulting prophet Mohamed (peace upon him), which caused anger in 20 Muslim nations like Egypt, Tunisia and Libya.  We should mention what happened in Benghazi when a group of people killed the diplomats there, but president Obama and the U.S government take care of their speech when they talk to media to keep the political relationship between them and the other Muslim countries stable, keeping in mind that president Obama now is preparing for the elections and such this things may effect him and make Americans vote for Romeeny.

“That’s depend on how the ally mean” this was what President Morsi said when they asked him about his comment.  These words make the American citizen angry and receive these words in a negative way. Americans were unhappy by Morsi‘s reaction of the riots especially when he said” we took our time and at the end we take the right decisions”.

Morsi make Washington needs to calm down and take care of her reaction because the world changed. The Islamic power is ruling now and they came by a democratic way and this is what the U.S government understand, so they decided to show respect to them after the dictators stepped down after the revolutions in the Arab world.

Tunisians forced the old regime regime of Zine al Abidine Ben Ali to step down and Egypt got rid of Mubarak and his gang, after they remained in power for three decades and now the new president came democratically elected, which was a new way to choose the president. Of course he doesn’t need anything to please the power in Washington which makes the ideas and the way of thinking changes in the U.S government. Now it’s totally different than before.

Morsi also said “the successive American administrations that were supporting the old regime in Egypt, caused the Egyptian People to hate the way of the U.S government when they deal with Mubarak especially in first days of the 25 of January revolution. The U.S administration tried to keep Mubarak in power to serve the U.S. interests in Egypt” this was point of view of the Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi in an interview with the New York times newspaper.

Such statements from both sides Egypt and America makes the relation between them unclear because they don’t give us a direct word of anything and how they really feel towards each other, but the coming days will show us what will happened between the two countries and also the relation between big America and the Arab countries after the revolutions.

Dr. Mohamed Morsi ist der Präsident von Ägypten

on Wednesday, August 1, 2012

Dr. Mohamed Morsi The President of Egypt

on Wednesday, June 27, 2012

Mohamed Morsi has been named the first ever civil elected president that came as a result of fair elections. After such a long wait, we finally have a president that was elected by the people. Whether you disagree or agree with him (I strongly disagree) but he has won the elections fair with a 51.5% while Ahmed Shakif scored 48.5%

So this is a great win for the Muslim Brotherhood as they have finally reached the big chair, the presidential chair. I am considered in the line of the opposition, but none the less, I will not attack Mohamed Morsi just for the sake of it. I will only attack him resulting from his performance. He asked for 100 days to achieve great things and I have agreed to give him that period to see what he has to offer. I disagree strongly with the whole ideology of the Muslim Brotherhood, but it is what the people choose so we will have to wait and see what this choice would do.

Judging from what has happened so far, things are looking up. Not that I am totally happy with Mohamed Morsi now but as I said, I will not prejudge and I will judge according to actions. OF course he might be just softening the people at the beginning before his true plans come in play, but I can’t see the future so ill judge him one step at a time. Who knows, maybe all my fears and accusations towards him are false, I will be the first one to be glad about it and apologize.

First of all, he has stated the prohibition of any pictures of him to be put in government hall or offices as he is an employer like any other. Which is a great point because this is how dictators are made, by people who worship them and think of them as the owners of the country. Mohamed Morsi 1-0 My fears. Then he has announced that he will repeat the Mubarak trial because he sees that the results have been manipulated with and are not fair. Despite the fact that I don’t know if a president can actually make such thing, because as much as I understand, courts are independent form the authority of the president and the govt. It can still be considered as a sign of good well on his behalf.

This doesn’t mean I am a supporter of Morsi, he still has a long way for that I’m just stating what he has done so far. He has a lot to cover and a lot to prove. He has to prove he will do what he said he will and he also has to prove that the Muslim Brotherhood is not controlling Egypt because they are not the president, but he is. So keep up with my blog posts as I will keep watching him closely to monitor his performance.
