Muslim Buddhist Violence in Burma

on Sunday, March 31, 2013

Destroyed buildings in the Burmese city of Meikhtila present a sorrowful picture that the world has constantly and cruelly overlooked for quite a long time. Buddhists that are commonly perceived as advocates of peace and tranquility have certainly been showing a surprisingly extremist behavior. The streets of Burma show an array of blood spills and dismantled buildings, a sight unbearable to any humanitarian no matter what school of thought he or she follows.

Only recently a UN envoy to the country pleaded for peace, though I would personally call for substantial international involvement such that the matter can be taken care of once and for all. Mr. Thein Sein, Burmese President had declared a state of emergency in the country, calling for the army to jump in after the recent attack on Muslim Centers that resulted in the entire building being torched. More events of the same nature were reported from other cities on the south as well where Buddhists burnt down a Mosque and fifty homes in Yamethin (64kms from Meikhtila) this Saturday. In other events, several buildings and yet another Mosque was set ablaze in Lewei a city that lies on the southern side of Burmese capital Naypytaw.

It is nothing but outrageous cruelty at the hands of the international community for not even blinking an eye at a mayhem that has caused more than 10000 human beings to be displaced, and hundreds killed for a reason that is purely and utterly racist.

The Interfaith Friendship Organization (IFO) an organization built for the sole purpose of building unity between Buddhist, Christian, Hindu and Muslims has expressed sorrow at the events and asked the Buddhists monks to help ease the situation. Furthermore, their official statement goes as under:

“We would like to call upon the government to provide sufficient security and to protect the displaced people and to investigate and take legal measures as urgently as possible”

The initial rampage began with a mere quarrel between a Muslim shopkeeper and his Buddhist customer. Reports spread that apparently the Muslim shop owner had killed the Buddhist and as a result, numbers of Buddhist mobs attacked a Muslim neighborhood destroying countless residential buildings as well as religious ones.

The ensuing instability is of dire tension as the country has barely risen from a half a century old army rule. Thein Sein government faces a major issue now, and it is upon the few retired army men who have taken up the charge to work day in day out to stabilize the situation that is showing signs of further troubles. This has been the third incident of its kind in the past three years with a minimum of six mosques being burnt down.

Burma and What is Happening Now

on Sunday, December 30, 2012

In the midst of fast-moving events in Syria and in the shadows of tyranny, oppression, lethality and massacres practiced by the Syrian regime, the Nation of Islam has been stabbed once again. Another waterfall of Muslim blood has been shed without any humanity. These stabs have been hurting the Muslim nation often and raise many questions about our disbanding and enemy’s plots and plans from all sides.

In the past weeks, Muslim advocates have been exposed to a gruesome massacre after being attacked by a Buddhist group that killed many Muslims. The media have posted terrible images of the victims of this massacre. The Myanmar government  turned a blind eye, and it seems that they agree with the criminal killers. Things did not stop at this massacre but transcended to burn homes and farms of a large number of Muslims and killed dozens by fire. All this happened with the help of police junta Buddhism. On  July 10, 2012 a curfew was imposed on villages that was inhabited by the Muslim minority, then the Buddhist groups covered by the Myanmar government started a campaign of ethnic cleansing and religious preference that killed 100 Muslims and injured about 300 people and burned nearly a thousand homes. Also, in this awful campaign they have been targeting scientists, doctors and intellectuals. Away from these events and tension, the main thing that everyone knows is that the Muslims there have been suffering for decades from the oppression and persecution of Buddhists via systematic violations. The group of Buddhists are committed against the Muslims there at different intervals, and force displacement, removal of citizenship, and the sophistication in the torture and “ethnic cleansing.” Unjust arrests and the demolition of mosques and Islamic schools have deprived Muslims from the lowest human rights.

This crisis situation suddenly forces us to call out to the face of the Islamic world to do their duty in helping these Muslims. It is the need that all humanitarian organizations, human rights preservation authorities, the Muslim World League, the Organization of the Islamic Conference and other organizations interested in the issues of Muslims take notice. To do their duty towards this growing injustice, the whole world needs to be with these people helping and supporting this Muslim minority so as not to be erased from existence. Muslim writers should not let this issue pass without reaching the world. Do not let the Muslim people be displaced, or exposed to extermination or persecution again.

Current situation of Muslims in Burma

on Saturday, September 1, 2012

The world is going through the most uncertain conditions and every country is facing threats from inside as well as from outside. Human right violations are on the peak in every part of the world and in this critical situation all the world authorities have failed to bring the peace. The most troubled areas in the world now days are Syria, Palestine, Kashmir and Myanmar. Myanmar has topped in the human rights violation in the last 2 years. The state of Myanmar is a Buddhist majority state and is ruled by the military for the last 50 years. In the last 50 years the military has committed many human rights violations and the main victims were the Muslims. The Buddhist state rulers claim that these Muslims in Burma are the illegal immigrants from the adjoining countries and they have no place in the Burmese state. The rulers have made it clear to the world authorities that these immigrants are not the responsibility of the state and they should be expelled. The Burmese rulers have requested the UN missions to settle these people in the other countries in order to clear Burma form the minorities.

The reality is opposite because these people are not illegal immigrants but they are living here for many decades. The most problematic area is the Rohingya Muslims area where the life and property of the Muslims are under continuous threat.  They are compelled to stay out of their houses because the military has laid the land mines in their areas.  All the Muslims and other minority areas are deprived of the basic necessities and are not given their basic rights.  In less than two months more than 20,000 Muslims in Burma have been killed in the ethnic clashes. The world bodies have not played their due role in settling this decades old issue and even the United Nations have not come to rescue the people.  The organization of Islamic conference was held in the month of Ramadan which also failed to sort out this issue. The king of Saudi Arabia however offered the monetary help to the Muslims of Rohingya. The reaction of the world bodies has been cold on this which has further increased the hatred of Muslims over the west. This lack of trust and the gap that is developing between the west and east is dangerous and can have very negative consequences.

The feelings of hatred and being ignored are increasing among the Burma Muslims and it should come to an end.  The Muslims all over the world should be given equal treatment and justice should be free and fair.  The situation of Muslims in Burma is critical as the military is not even differentiating between the innocent women and children and the extremists. The innocent Muslims women and children are burned alive; the women are raped and kept under illegal custody. All these situations have compelled the people to settle in the forest and the faraway place where they are living miserably. There should be an end to the Burmese authority atrocities against the humanity and Muslims should be given their valid rights. Every person is born free and no one has right to challenge his or her existence and basic rights.

Anti-Muslim Riots in Burma

on Sunday, August 26, 2012

Anti-Muslim Riots in Burma

Burma is an independent country which is also named as the sovereign state of Myanmar. The countries of South East Asian countries like China, India, Bangladesh, Laos and Thailand share their borders with Burma. Burma has a coastline of more than 1200 miles.

Anti Muslim riots have always been parts of Burmese history since the inception of the country. The Buddhist population in the country covers 89% of total population of Burma. The total population of Burma is more than 60 million people. Only 1% of the people are Muslims and their insecurity is cleared from the statistics.

The anti Muslim riots of Buddhists against the Muslims in Burma of the year 2012 have been very horrifying both in statistics and the stories of killed people. The riots have actually occurred between the ethnic groups of Rakhine and Rohingya. Rakhine people are the Buddhists who are carrying out these anti Muslim riots against the Rohingya Muslims. Rohingya are the migrated Muslims in Burma thus the government of Burma do not give them the right to get the Burmese nationality.

The riots began as a result of an allegation that was imposed from the Rakhine people. They claimed that a Rakhine woman was first robbed then raped and then killed by three people who belonged to the Rohingya Muslim group. Instead of taking the matter to court, the Rakhine people took the law in their own hands and decided to mass murder Muslims who belonged to the Rohindya group. After that a whole hell was unleashed on the Muslims of Burma by the ethnic Buddhists. The attacks of June 8 resulted in burnt houses of several Muslims and they lost all of their belongings to fire. Protestors also protested and brought harm to public and government property in various areas of Burma. The Buddhists also burnt three villages of Muslims in the Southern Maungdaw. The next day government of Burma deployed five battalions to reinforce peace in the area but in spite of increased security the riots just kept on spreading. The day of June 9th ended with several more house burns and a murdered student.

The Rakhine terrorists kept following the Muslims wherever they tried to flee and save their lives. But none was spared. Muslims were killed, they were displaced, their houses and belongings had burnt and still no international media channel seriously covered the event. The media and human right activist institutes did not even bothered to address these anti Muslim riots in public. The Muslims who has fled to Sittwe were also followed. They tried to escape the riots and in the end found themselves again right inside the riots when buildings and houses were blazed in Sittwe by the Rakhine people.  The government figures regarding the deaths show just a two digit “80” which is not even a fraction of what is the total number of deaths that have been resulted by these riots. Thousands of Muslims have been displaced and they feel scared to go back to their homes because of the fear of life they have to face.

Muslim Killings in Burma

on Saturday, August 25, 2012

Muslim Killings in Burma

Burma is also known as Myanmar. Burma is a south eastern sovereign state in the continent of Asia.  Naypyidaw is the capital city of Burma and the state has a total population of more than 60 million people. One third of the total perimeter of Burma is in the form of a continuous coastline. In terms of religion, Burma is a majorly Buddhist state and has a population of Buddhist which make 89% of the total population of Burma. Christians and Muslims are 4% part of population each whereas Hindus are just 1% of the total population.

In the running year of 2012 there has been a severe Muslim Killings in Burma. The stories of how the Muslims are being executed openly in Burma are frightening. Thousands of Muslims have been displaced and thousands have been killed up till now with many cases which have gone unreported. The riots began suddenly when there was an allegation imposed on three Muslims that they had robbed, raped and then killed a woman that belonged to the Buddhist pact. Based on these allegations, several villages where Muslims used to reside have been burnt to ashes.

The brutality with which Muslim Killings have been going on in Burma since past few months is an eye opener for the entire world but the sad part is that no one gives importance to this fact that Muslims are being killed in streets with no mercy. The people who are carrying out these brutal execution operations are those who claim to be the flag carriers of peace and harmony all over the world. The Buddhist ethnic groups are carrying out these murders, so much so that Muslim new born is actually being burnt while people stand watching. This hair rising information is a fact but does anyone even care to stop this animalistic act? The United Nations and other human right commissions and flag carriers of human rights just keep watching the show while the Buddhist ethnic groups carry out Muslim Killings in Burma.

This topic is also not being discussed in the international media which makes it even more astonishing. The ignorance of such a horrible occurring by the media makes it look as if either the media has gotten too much commercial that they don’t even bother discussing things which do not have a monetary output or the media is deliberately being kept silent by the powers that are carrying out this enormous Muslim Killings. The killing of hundreds of thousands of Muslims should be the biggest news in the newspapers and on the internet. But all this news finds is the sideline in the news at nine. This extremely unfair and brutal act is undoubtedly being done under the influence of international powers and anti Muslim groups which want to discourage them and wish to eliminate the Muslim race from the area. The situation gets worst and worst because when the Muslims of Burma try to immigrate to other Muslim areas like Bangladesh then their governments do not open their borders for Muslims.

The Extremist Buddhist in Burma and The Muslim Killings

on Saturday, August 18, 2012

The Extremist Buddhist in Burma and The Muslim Killings

In Burma’s Rakhine province, more than 20,000 Muslims have been killed, tortured and displaced by the extremist Buddhist. For many years, the worst killing has been going on in Burma. The violence of that place is responsible for the Muslim killing over there. In a day, the Burmese people kill 30 to 70 innocent Muslims without having a reason. The Burmese burn the living beings, their houses and destroy their whole families. According to a report, around 2,500 houses in Burma have been burnt down. The United nation and the Western countries have not taken any relevant action in this matter yet. They are silent on this major injustice. Any serious concern cannot be seen over the killings of Muslims by anyone. They are continuously facing the fearing persecution whenever they need someone’s help.

The Muslims are living in the most horrible situation in Burma. Of the name of ethnicity, the extremist Buddhist feels very proud by the Muslim killing. It is a total injustice and inhumanity, which have to face by the innocent Burma Muslims. More so over, a large number of Rohingya refugees are living in inhuman condition on the boats in the river or at no man’s land, no one is there to hear their call and understand their critical condition. The Rohingya people want to get rid of the inhuman activities of the Buddhist people, and want to leave that earth, but the other countries such Bangladesh never allow them to enter their country. At last, they have chosen the boat to spend their lives, but the Burma military follows them on the boats too. Recently, Burmese military chopper destroyed three boats full of refugees fleeing the reign of terror, killing everyone on-board, really this is a very bad example of inhumanity. No one is there who can offer them shelter and save them from the extremist Buddhist. Muslim killing in Burma needs and calls for a special action; otherwise the Burma people will destroy the whole Muslim community solely.

Really, Muslim killing is at its peak in Burma, they are living in a most desperate condition. There is no state for Muslims in Burma, they are helpless, and facing a very very critical situation, but no serious concern can be seen. Even, the media is silent on this extreme social injustice, which remains always active in every issue. No one can understand that what the reason behind this silence from all sides is. International organizations, NGOs, human rights organizations, major countries should propose the best solution for the 800,000 Rohingya. This is an action, which must be taken by these organizations and by the Burmese Government as well. The Rohingya Muslims are looking for the help, so that they can save their lives and their religion as well. One should take proper step to stop innocent Muslim killing in Burma. Muslims must be protected by the extremist Buddhist; this is the call of the day.

The discriminatory behavior of the Burma state with the minorities

on Friday, August 17, 2012

The discriminatory behavior of the Burma state with the minorities

The conditions of the Muslims all over the world where they are in minority are worse. These countries are continually denying the basic human rights which are against all the national and international laws. Burma is one of the countries where the conditions of Muslims population are the worst in the world. Even the animals are treated far better than the Muslim minority community.  The homes are burned, the people are burned alive, women are raped and the small children are cut into pieces by the state military. The dictatorship in Burma has crippled the country for the last fifty years. The authorities in the Burma have denied accepting the Rohingya Muslims. They have demanded from the UN mission to take these minorities out of their country as they want to clean the state of these minorities.

As the situation is very critical the people have to carry weapons in order to protect them from the military action. This has made the situation very dangerous.  Police and military are deployed in almost all the cities but the situation is becoming more and worse.  The reason of this unrest was the rape of the Buddhist women. Believing that it was done by the Muslims the Buddhist mob torched the Muslims homes and killed more than 25000 people in just a few weeks.  The Buddhist state has never accepted the Muslims minority and the violence here continues for many years. The state of Rakhine was named after the strong Buddhist group by ignoring the fact that this state has the Muslim majority population. The Rohingya people are also inhabitants of this region. These people are the most ignored and persecuted minorities in the world as stated by the United Nations. The Burma state treats the Rohingya as the foreigners and is expelled from the nation’s ethnic groups.  For most of the Burma people the Rohingya is considered as the illegal immigrants who should be expelled from Burma to other countries.

The Buddhist monks believe that the unrest in the Rakhine states because of the terrorist activities of the Rohingya Muslims. They say that these illegal immigrants should be banned by the countries that are supporting their flow to Burma.  The international community has not taken any strict action to tackle this problem. The reason of this problem is that the Burma authorities have banned the aid workers and the journalists and they are not allowing anyone to have access to the reality. The OIC meeting held in Makkah on 14th August 2012 is expected to take necessary actions to solve this problem. The King Abullah bin Abdul Aziz has announced aid money of $50 million to minimize the sufferings of the Rohingya Muslims which is a good step. Hope the situation comes under control and the Muslims are granted their due rights.

The Brutal Killing of Muslims in Burma

on

The total population of Burma is about 75 millions according to the census and out of them Muslims constitute only 0.7 million. The Muslims of Burma have been suffering from this terror since 1962 when the Burmese Army took control over the whole country Burma. The Muslim Killing in Burma began on the 3rdof June 2012. On that day 11 of the blameless Muslims were brutally killed by the Army of Burma as well as by the cruel Buddhist crowd. They cruelly dragged those Muslims out of the bus and beat them to the death. A fervent protest was then performed in the Arakan province of Burma where the Muslims are in the majority, although those Muslim Protestants became the sufferers of the dictatorship of the Burmese Army as well as the Buddhist crowd. While trying to escape from the sufferings as well as the brutality which was going on them, the Burmese Muslims moved to the border of Bangladesh, but all they got from the Bangladesh was mere disappointment. The Bangladeshi Government declined to provide the shelter to the Burmese Muslims.

More than 500 villages of Muslims in Burma have been set fire up till now. And hundreds of them have been totally wiped out. The Muslim Killing in Burma by the hands of Buddhist rabbles is increasing day by day. Still all of the organizations related to the human rights have kept a sort of criminal stillness thus far. It is a sad fact for the Muslims of Burma that the Muslim world has become so much heartless that they are still quiet after all of this brutality which is going on in Burma. This isn’t something new or else an unparalleled butchery on the innocent Muslims all over the world. Earlier to this Muslims have been facing such antagonism many times. If we read the history of the Muslims we will find an extremely rational result that the Muslims all over the world were for all time on the anguished part. Islam is such a religion that gives the message of peace as well as harmony among each other.

The followers of Islam are not allowed at all to kill any innocent person even if he is their enemies; they have to be very generous with everyone. The question arises that why the admirers of such a nonviolent religion are being browbeaten at every occasion all over the world. The terror suffering faces of deprived Muslims of Burma really hurts the hearts of every Muslim. The sight of the bumped bodies of the Burmese Muslims is very heart slitting. It appeals to the United Nation to stop the killing of Muslims in Burma. The JI did a very commendable work by staging public meetings against the Muslim Killing in Burma. At this time it is obligatory for the Government of Pakistan to lift up a voice to stop this brutality which is being executed on the Burmese Muslims at a worldwide debate.

Muslim Massacre in Myanmar aka Burma [2]‎

on Thursday, August 9, 2012

Muslim Massacre in Myanmar aka Burma

Taking the sequel further, now the question is being raised that the Muslims are not native and ‎they should leave Arakan and other areas. If this argument of Buddhist monks is taken for ‎granted and accepted as it is, then they are also not from the same area like, present day ‎Israelis, Americans, Africans and several Asians, turning the world into an in-comprehensible ‎conundrum. If we trace the history of the Muslim arrival, we see that the first Muslims who ‎arrived to Myanmar landed on the coast of Arakan, present-day Rakhine and settled there ‎during 9th or 10th century. Then several Arabs and Persians passed over this route and ‎propagated Islam further and their numbers continued increasing. Now that they have almost ‎lived over there around 10,000 or their 20th generation is living over there and if they are no ‎aliens, how can the Tibetans monks be native to the land where several of their families have ‎arrived in just 18th and 19th century. The question who is native and who is native does not suit ‎in the case of Rohingya Muslims.‎

Apart from this logical fallacy, another manifestation of the Buddhist monks has come to the ‎fore in the shape that not only they were engaged in wholesale Muslim killing under the very ‎protection of the security forces, they also stopped aid providing NGO’s from approaching the ‎camps of the displaced Muslim refugees. More than 250,000 refugees are living in appalling ‎conditions where food and medicine stores are depleting fast and soon it will give birth to ‎another looming human tragedy. ‎

Muslim Massacre in Myanmar aka Burma

The second logical fallacy is that even Buddhist monks are of the view that if aid reaches the ‎Muslims, they will settle permanently over there, threatening their majority and winning in ‎elections to make road to the parliament. To some extent, this Sunni-dominated population’s ‎sudden increase makes it correct. However, this does not mean that they should be either ‎expelled or exterminated. They have full rights like their Buddhist counterparts and if they ‎cannot live together as the monks feared, it is better that the UN should be invited to find the ‎way out by dividing the country, for this land can harbor the population more than this and it ‎has also happened in Indonesia where Christian minority of East Timur suffered under the ‎Muslim majority domination and ultimately they chose to have their own separate land. ‎

The third logical fallacy is that the Burmese authorizes state that most of the Muslims migrated ‎from India and present day Pakistan due to their role in the Freedom War of 1857 and they ‎found safe havens in Myanmar. That is why they must go back to their native land. If this is ‎accepted as true, several Burmese crossed over to Bangladesh and China during Japan invasion ‎and they never came back. Moreover, it does not make sense that if a population is living in ‎some area, you should insist them to go and seek their native land they have lost for hundreds ‎of years. [to be continued]‎

Muslim Academy Podcast 021 – Save the Muslims in Burma

Muslim Academy Podcast

In this Episode, Walaa and Chris speak with Doaa about the situation in Burma, where thousands of Muslims have been killed in the last several weeks.

Why Muslim World Media Silent on Burma Attacks?

on

Muslim Killing in Burma

Muslims killing in Burma is increasing day by day and on every  social media outlet everyone talking about it. The most shocking thing everyone notices and questioned that why the media observing a criminal silence on this issue? Not only the western world but also the Muslim countries are silent where media even made the minor issue a big chaos for higher viewership. The stories of the merciless killings of Burmese Muslims at the hands of livid Buddhist rabbles and the Burmese Army are heart taking. According to reports, more than 20,000 Muslims have been killed only this month in Myanmar by police, army and Buddhist extremists.

The agitation aroused after the killing of 10 Muslims who were burned alive in a bus after the news of gang raped of Buddhist woman, who died after the incident. The Burmese army was also accused of torching more than 500 villages in Burma. The amazing thing is the United Nations and other human right agencies role is also not visible. Muslim organizations in diverse countries are raising questions on human rights organizations, the United Nations for ignoring this issue and observing criminal silence. They also continually ask the Muslim world why it has stayed insensitive by Muslim genocide.

This unrest on ethnic basis is in Burma from the last one century where Muslims living as minority without having any citizenship rights. They were denied as a being citizens of Burma and the neighbor Muslim country Bangladesh closed their borders on them as well.  Other minority groups as Christians also not recognized in Burma. There are clear violations of rights and recognition in Burma regarding minorities.

The role of UN is very important as the UN should come forward and put force on the Burmese government to grant Christian and Muslim minorities equal citizenship status as that which Buddhist citizens enjoy. There should be some solid moves from the side of government so as the majority should not destroy the minority’s rights. This leads to the peaceful Burma state and also protects the Muslims right over there. The Muslim countries should raise voice on the brutal killing of Muslims as well as media to help the needy Burmese Muslims and stop the innocent killings over there.

Save the Muslims in Burma

on Saturday, July 7, 2012

According to what was reported by the French press Agency (Agence France-Presse), the border guards in Bangladesh had returned back eight boats carrying more than 300 Rohingya Muslims, mostly women and children were trying to escape from the violence in Burma.

Shafiq El- Rahman one of the border guards told the “AFP:” There were more than 300 Rohingya Muslims on 8 ships coming from the Burmese city of Akyab. Most of them were crying women and children, noting that he had to return them back to the Burmese land, which means to return them to death.

The hostility against the Muslims of Burma was said to be a main foundation of the composition of the Buddhist community; where Muslims are seen as illegal immigrants, despite the historical presence of Muslims in this country.

Since the military coup that took place in 1962 the military government dismissed the Muslims from all governmental jobs and the army. The government also deported thousands of Muslims in Burma during the sixties and the seventies decades of the last century to Bangladesh.

The Buddhism regime in Burma had followed harsh measures to suppress the Islamic identity, through the demolition of mosques, historical schools and Islamic monuments. The Buddhism government also banned any operations that are carried out to repair or rebuild the mosques or schools that were destroyed by the time.

Economic pressure is a part of the unjust practices pursued by the Buddhism government against the Muslims of Burma, where the government has to raise the prices of food commodities necessary in the neighborhoods with Muslim majority, which led to situations like famine, prompting thousands of Rohingya to escape to Thailand and Bangladesh to live in border camps.

Muslim children are also deprived from learning in colleges and universities, according to the government plans to spread literacy and poverty among the Muslim community. Muslims who travel outside the country for higher education are removed from the records of the village, and then arrested when they return, and thrown in prison. This is in addition to not accepting Muslims in any governmental job no matter how qualified they are. There are exceptional governmental jobs only were Muslims are accepted, like the deans of villages and some of the functions needed by the military, Muslims are appointed without salaries, but at their own.

Adding to all of this persecution, Burmese Muslims are prevented them from traveling abroad even to the Hajj (Pilgrimage). They are only allowed to travel to Bangladesh for a short period of time, and traveling by Muslims to the capital of the country “Yangon” or any other city is considered a punishable offense, even the movement from one village to another is not allowed without obtaining permission.

The Unjustified Persecution of Muslims in Burma

on

Amid the charged with tensions and hatred conditions against the Muslims in Burma, a bus carrying a group of Muslim scholars and preachers in the Buddhism town “Taunggoke’’ – it’s a town where the existence of Muslims is very rare – was attacked by a group of “Magen” Buddhists. Nearly around 466 Buddhists gathered to beat them with sticks on their faces and heads after tying their hands and legs forgetting all the meanings of humanity.

To raise the strife of sedition the Buddhists claimed to have done so in retaliation for the killing of a Buddhist woman by Muslims after raping her, pointing out that they suspected that these preachers were the ones who did it. Even knowing that the preachers are not originally from that town, but they were only passing by the town during their journey.

As usual, the government’s position was shameful; it arrested 4 of those Muslims as being suspects in the case of the woman, and left hundreds who participated in the murder of these innocent people, prompting the spark of protest against the policy of discrimination and racism against the Muslim minority.

On Friday, the 8th of June, the army surrounded the Muslims mosques, in anticipation for any demonstrations or protests because of the killing of the ten scholars. This was considered a chance for the Buddhists to clash with the protesters, a situation which led the government to impose a curfew. The Buddhism police then surrounded the homes of the Rohingya Muslims, while leaving the Magen Buddhists free crawling on the villages and the homes of Muslims with swords and knives to start an organized campaign of extermination against Muslims in a crime in which even the elderly and women from the Buddhists had participated.

Thus began a series of killings and burning of neighborhoods and villages under the sight of the Buddhism police and the silence of the government, with the latest only raising a few calls to calm the situation. The violence spread to other places dominated by the Buddhists like Akyab or Sittwe and they burned the Muslims’ neighborhoods completely, taking advantage of a curfew imposed by the government in areas with Muslim majority, and guaranteeing that no Muslim would be able to leave his place.

As a result of this violence and the Holocaust; Muslims of Arakan became homeless – after their homes were burned – what caused them to escape to the sea without food or drink to die even before they reach from Akyab to the nearest possible place.

Stop the Persecution of Muslims in Burma

on Thursday, July 5, 2012

Burning women and children in their homes and neighborhoods and most certainly those who survived from this holocaust will meet their destiny by the sharp tools of the Buddhists, leaving pieces of bodies and blood filling the streets, showing deep hatred against the Muslim minority.

The scene is not new in Burma; this happened before with more or less bloody facts; in a series of crimes that have been committed against Muslims in Burma for the past six decades, amid of the support of the ruling military government and the silence of the international community, till the extermination of the last person in the region, which includes thousands of Muslims who do not hold any nationality living in the north of Rakhine State bordering Bangladesh.

Those thousands of Muslims are facing suppression from the ruling authorities which make them the most subjected to persecution minority in the world, according to the United Nations.

This is the way Muslims live in the province of Arakan who are considered by the Buddhists not from the citizens of their country. A Muslim minority stuck between raging racism and genocidal war with the last wave of violence against them after the spread of a rumor about the rapping of a Buddhist girl. This was a lie denied by the Muslims of the region stressing that only ethnic and political reasons are behind the flamed violence against them.

The story begins after a declaration made by the Government of Myanmar in Burma of granting the citizenship for the Rohingya “the Muslim minority” in Arakan. The declaration was completely unacceptable for the Magen, “the majority Buddhism”. The Magen understand the impact of this decision on the outcome of the vote – in light of the new republican government – and they know that this decision would lead to the spread of Islam.

The Buddhists have saved no effort in organizing conspiracies hiring a number of young killers from outside Burma, specifically from Russia, to begin their plans aiming to change the opinion of the government and its attitude towards the Muslim Rohingya and to visualize them in front of the public opinion and the government as terrorists and outsiders, and this in turn would lead to the reconsideration of the government’s decision of recognizing them as citizens or even the decision would be at least postponed. Moreover, this would create more opportunities for the extermination of those Muslims, with the absence of external public opinion, and the control of the Magens and the police collusion with the Buddhists.
