Islamic Teachings: Anger And How To control It

on Saturday, September 21, 2013

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) stated: “A strong man is not he who beats his opponent by wrestling. However, a strong man is he who controls himself at the moment of anger.”

The reasons which can trigger anger to breed are pride, boasting, hoax and mockery, dispute, deceitfulness, excess hunger for too much material goods and fame. If these immoralities are joined in a person, his manner becomes bad and he cannot flee anger. These things should be removed by their opposites. Boasting is to be eliminated by modesty. Pride is to be confiscated by one’s humbleness and meekness. Greed is to be eradicated by remaining content and stinginess by charity.

The foremost remedy of knowledge is to consider the prizes of soothing anger, the sources of which are from Quran and the sayings of the Prophet (PBUH). Your anticipation for getting rewards of appeasing anger will control you from vengeance.

Another medicine is to be afraid of Allah’s punishment. Anger triggers vengeance, and if you take revenge upon someone for anger, Allah will take revenge on you on the Judgment Day.

The third solution of anger is to take safeguard about punishment of hostility and vengeance on him. You feel ecstasy in having your opponent in your attendance in his sorrows. You are not liberated from that peril.

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) also said to think about the hideous face of the fuming man, which is similar to a ferocious monster. He who conciliates anger looks like a learned and sober man. One should even keep in mind that what Allah wishes, will occur.
The Prophet has stated that when one gets angry, say: I seek shelter in Allah from the evil.

Whenever someone is angry, ask for Allah’s forgiveness for the sins and ask for the removal of anger from one’s heart in order to get saved from misguidance.

If fury does not fade away in this way,  one can be seated if you are standing,  lay down if sitting, and come close to  earth, as you have been shaped for earth. Therefore, make yourself cool like the earth. The reason of anger is heat, and its reverse is to laze on the floor and to make the body unruffled.

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) stated, “Anger is like a blazing coal. Don’t you observe your eyes flushed and eyebrows broad? Hence, when one of you sense anger, lie down if sitting or sit down if standing.”

He even said to take a bath, or make ablution with cool water just like fire can be extinguished by water.

We also know that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) did not get angry for any deed. When any issue captivated him, nobody could distinguish it and even nobody took any step of revenge for his anger. He only got angry for truth.

Don’t let anyone anger you to the extent that you can’t identify yourself.

Islam teaches us to put a bar to anger from our mind and heart, and so has Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) preached us.

U.S And Its Military Aid To Egypt

on

After the crackdown over civilians in Egypt, United States wanted to reconsider their aid to Egypt. At last, it’s been a symbolic step alone again. It is reported only an amount of $525 Million was applied to suspension, where the total stands as $1.3 Billion. Cancellation of joint military exercise with Egypt is seen to be another eye wash. Also, the suspensions were announced to be a temporary decision.

What are the reasons behind this drama?

01. The Middle East without Islamists:
Egypt was the first state to gain the results of Arab spring, where the Islamists won the ruling power. This stimulated Turkey’s ruling Islamic party, as well as, Qatar. Also, this motivated the Islamists in Syria. The Uprising of the Islamists is most likely to reduce the power of U.S in the region.

02. Stableness of Israel:
It is true that, although the peace treaty of Israel – Egypt was ended, it’s being maintained by the certain aid. In other way round, if U.S wanting to cut off the aid means, it’s encouraging a better governance (an unlikely situation for Israel), which is not exactly its wish. Israel experienced a better time with Mubarak, and now again that has arrived with the coup.

03. Geographical Location:
The location of Egypt is so important for U.S as many of their military bases of the Middle East are located around Egypt. Further the Suez Canal, the key way of oil transportation from the Middle East is been controlled by Egypt. It’s important for U.S to maintain a likely situation in Egypt.

04. Power over region:
During Mubarak’s regime, Egypt was a free air zone for U.S, which was flexible for them during the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. It was allowed to carry on military trainings inside Egypt. Further, Egypt was a state responsible for detain the prisoners hand over by U.S and Israel. After the coup again this situation had been raised.

05. Profits over military weapons:
Foreign Military Financing is the scheme which is used in military, where it is a major business dealing in today’s world. Recently Press TV reported the top 10 companies of U.S which are highly profited, where those companies alone earn more than $600 million, by the military aid to Egypt.

Get a Girl, Marry Her Early, and Ruin Her Life

on

According to the tenets of Islam, it is explained that it is necessary for a father to ensure that his daughter is married as early as possible. This has been taken in view of the light that adolescence presents certain psychological and physiological changes in girls that warrant early marriage.

Is this the solution to morality?

It remains to be seen how the virtue of chastity is retained because there are many other negative influences that can counter it. Essentially, the girl will not have reached full maturity, and may find the tasks of a wife and mother too difficult to cope with.

If a teenage girl in today’s world is married off by the father to a young man or one much older than her, it doesn’t solve the ‘problem’. In fact, it’s like getting the ‘problem’ out of the way. Generally, a girl attains adulthood at the age of 18 years and anything before that is unacceptable by law in most countries for a variety of reasons that may be viewed as human trafficking whereas the man who marries her forcefully can be incriminated for being a pedophile. What needs to be understood is that in some instances, what was workable in the past does not always apply today. Was there any proper formal education where children were required to get an education by law? Not likely.

Early marriage does not favour girls in a contemporary system because they need to get an education so as to cope with the social and professional challenges that lay ahead. It would be difficult for an educated man to relate to a wife who can only read and write. Conversely, with an educated wife, family income increases because she can seek gainful employment, or venture into business with her husband, or by herself since she has the necessary skills. That would make everybody more comfortable, wouldn’t it?

What about the effects on her health? There are various side effects for a girl who gets impregnated at an early age, and these are not limited to the body alone. Is she prepared for it together with the adjustments she has to make at such an early stage in life?

The body may not be fully matured, as well, and it may turn out to be a very nasty experience. Moreover, looking physically mature does not mean that the girl has the mental capacity to handle marriage or child production. To make matters worse, her education has been disrupted, and this would have aided in adjustment to marriage in the future in different ways. Curtailing her social life so early interferes with her development as an independent individual.

When all is said and done, a girl married at such a tender age has her life ruined because she will suffer health problems, and lose opportunities that could only have come her way had she completed her education and been given more time.

World Gratitude Day

on

The World Gratitude Day is observed every 21st of September each year. It was started by the United Nations in 1977 to give people a chance to observe and celebrate those petite things that make them happy.  On this day, you have the opportunity to celebrate your very being, your zeal and passions, your friends, relatives and family, heroes and heroines in your locality, your colleagues and everyone that is close to you both physically and emotionally. On this day, you get the chance to celebrate all those modest and most important things that bring joy and happiness while coloring your life with all the beauty and splendor. Different people have different ways through which they celebrate this day. What do you do, and how do you convey gratitude to others?

Ways to express gratitude

Expressing gratitude and embracing the same in your life is not only good for your emotional well-being, but also for your physical development and success. Here are some of the ways you should express gratitude in your life:

  • Taking life challenges as opportunities to learn and develop rather than obstacles to stop or derail you from achieving your life goals:
Life challenges can make you feel lonely, defeated, sorrowful, down-hearted and disillusioned. Taking these challenges for what they are and dealing with them in totality lets you come out victorious and successful. Embrace gratitude such that you will be grateful to know that these are just ways to make you sharper and perfect.
  • Appreciate good qualities in other people:
You should delve into the good qualities of the people around you rather than negative ones. This will make the relationship with people around you to be great and be grateful that you appreciate the good qualities that they possess.
  • Donating:
This does not include only donating money. Other perfect ways to show gratitude is by donating your time. You can do this in homeless or children and orphan homes and shelters. Helping and caring for others is deeply gratifying and comforting.
  • Gifts and other surprise gestures:
You can give someone you love or like a gift, a hand-written thank you or love note, help in some activity or spending time doing what he or she likes.
  •  You can also list down those things that make you grand, and those that make others around you happy:
Update the list every time together with other challenges and how to best overcome them.

Shower your life with gratitude this day, and all the days of your life. Remember to make others happy too. One gratitude gesture goes a long way in making the world a better place to live in for all of us.

Japanese Woman’s Experience Of Hijab

on

Darul Ihsan explains it better in his site; still an attempt is made here towards explaining the idea to the best potential. Japan is basically a nation where you cannot find so many Muslims out there. There are very few Muslims in this part of the world. The policies of the Japanese government don’t give any encouragement to those Muslims to get the nationality out here in Japan. You cannot see big politicians and higher officials from Japan visiting the Muslim countries. The same with the Arab nations too, as they do not prefer to visit Japan on official grounds too often.

A kind of aversion that is indirectly felt by the Japanese towards the Muslim community is quite obvious to the whole world. It is because of one simple fact that favorites cannot be identified quite easily as there might be quite a lot, while dispersions could be significantly noticed on a big scale. From that perspective if you see the Japanese approach towards the Hijab, certainly yes, it is not going to be on the encouraging side though. Most westerners have already talked a lot about this simple act of women wearing a Hijab.

There is nothing wrong in hiding your countenance to be stared by men out there. It is a matter of protection and comfort to the ladies in special. When their religion insists on that particular style, and they are very ready to observe the practice, then what is wrong with the others to criticize about that? When the highest grade officers and the Japanese governmental officials are not interested too much in the Muslims, they are not keeping away from visiting the Muslim countries when they want to make bilateral talks for oil import. When they need something from a person you talk to them.

When you are not dependent otherwise, then you dump them; that is not the way of approach that can be tolerated by any society. Japanese should actually change their style though.

Japanese woman’s experience of wearing a Hijab was quite fabulous something to explain. The Spiritual part of it is something else that could be understood only by the true believers of Islam. Other than that, while wearing the Hijab, she feels confident, secure, pure and pious. It is all about discipline. When you allow men to stare at you and admire your features while engaging in a conversation with them, it is certainly going to kindle their thoughts for sure.

If there is not any attraction even from deep within, even after a lengthy conversation with an attractive woman of such a kind without wearing Hijab, then it could be a strange case otherwise. Hence, in order not to be causing trouble to the society in that way, not to be tempting the men around, and to establish the brotherhood and sisterhood commonly in the society, wearing the Hijab is a nice practice that is in observance amidst the Muslims from quite a long time now. It is left to them to follow or not while no one could compel them to do or not to do so.

MAC Youth Center Donation Challenge

on

Salam Muslim-Academy writers and readers!

I’m writing this today because something was brought to my attention a few days ago, and I feel obliged to speak about it.
Muslim Association of Canada (MAC) has decided to buy a building for a youth center at the end of this month. The only problem is that they’re short $50,000.

A group of youth in that area came together and made up certain challenges to get donations for the center.
I am working with one youth, Omar Al- Bach, who is dedicated to Islam and helping his community, to help raise money.

Omar and his friend Yahya, have put together 3 challenges, for your entertainment, towards each goal they reach.

Goal #1: $1,000= eat an onion.
Goal #2: $2,000= spray pedestrians.
Goal #3: $4,000= unknown challenge.

Each $30 you donate, your name will be written on a ticket for a chance to win an ipad mini.

–Just another wonderful way to give back to you for giving to them.

You might be thinking: “Why should I help buying a center that’s not even located in my area?

BECAUSE YOU’RE MUSLIM, that’s why.
This distance thing is what’s getting our Ummah in trouble today.
We’ve learned to not care about our family around the world just because of the plain fact that it’s not in your area.
We as Muslims, if we see a brother/sister in need, we should automatically help them without even a second thought.

Am I correct?

Well, here’s your chance to show yourself that this world hasn’t changed your Islamic morales.

This Youth Center will be like a second home for so many youth.
A place where they can go if they’re having problems at home, or to just hang out with your friends or make new ones.
This is a wonderful opportunity for this community to come together and show what Islam is all about.

Give your daily Sadaqah, and earn Allah’s pleasure today.

If you are unable to donate, please share this article, the video, or donation page. Every effort counts!
I believe that we as an Ummah can make this happen.
Wa Salam.

UK Nationals Doubt that Islam is Taking Over Their Country

on Friday, September 20, 2013

Right after Christianity, Islam stands to be the world’s second largest religion with 1.62 billion believers. According to an estimate based on analysis in year 2010, 23 percent of the entire population constitutes of Muslims. Non-believers predict that if Islam will follow the same pace of spreading around the world, it will become largest religion by year 2050. Having the doubts considering the population trends and converts, the world is partly in denial. However, the fact remains there that Muslim population in London is actually the largest amongst many other major cities of Europe.
Analyzing the situation in bits and pieces and further looking at the information in totality, it won’t be wrong to say that Islam is an influential religion. This statement is not merely based on teachings of the holy religion only, but also the response of non-Muslims when we see them converting to Islam. The high values and morals in “Islam” is indeed an attractive cradle to seek shelter in it. Looking back at previous events in the United Kingdom, it is quite evident that women are drawn more towards Islam for perhaps they don’t find security that feminine nature demands for in a society. The case is more likely to be seen in working women where they are in direct interaction with their workmates and the rest of the society. Lauren Booth, Tony Blair’s sister in law is one such example, and is indeed a surprise convert. Amongst others is Kristiane Backer, who was London-based former MTV presenter, has now turned her back on her past life, and instead she has embraced Islam. Our world is full of such examples.
An annual growth rate of Islam believers in UK has been recorded 6.7 percent since year 2004. It is considerably increasing every year. In addition to the ones who are embracing Islam, the child birth rate of Muslim families is quite evidently higher than the native British people. For a sustainable community, every female should have 2.1 total fertility rates which is not the case there as European birth rate has dropped naturally. However, Europeans consider it the main goal of Muslims to produce more offspring and dominate the natives by being more in number.
Essentially, the decline in the local population of United Kingdom is alarming for them as it is a threat to their identity and existence for they consider Muslims rising 10 percent faster than the rest of the society. Demographic forecasting also reveals that increased European deathbed demography has been recorded in comparison with Muslims resident there. Further considering child birth rate of Muslims in Europe, we can state that decline in one population and increase in other population will apparently end up in dominance of the increasing one. Significant changes are most likely to happen as a result of this cultural transformation as a result of Muslim majority. One major thing happened in the recent years is the addition of Islamic history in the British education by British education secretary Michael Gove. Soon, the entire scenario will be changed, and the values will be shifted as per predictions. In fact, the society, its structure, its architecture will be changed altogether.
In light of the prevailing conditions, such rapid spread of Islam and its acceptance by majority, anti Muslim leagues started being formed which as their mission want to stop the spread of Islam. English Defense League is one such anti-Islamism and anti-shariah movement which, as a mean of fighting the fact, opposes the popularity and spread of holy religion. English defense league is called as Islamophobic community of people who are scared of their “would be” recessive status. Tommy Robinson is leader of this group of people who are against Islam and started a movement against it. Think tank demos provide a rough estimate that EDL has around 35,000 active members who take part in street demonstrations, make attempts to influence public and turn them against Muslims, however, government has tagged the group as extremist and terrible, and that they would be banned soon.
In light of all evident existing scenarios, the fact cannot be changed or attempted to be changed that dominance of Muslims in European world is a threat for the locals as they perceive it, however, acceptance or denial is more or less psychological. I do not say that nothing like this will happen, but I surely believe that if it does, it won’t turn UK into what EDL thinks it will – Islam is there in Turkey too! If Islam provides high social values and character definition, then no league can stop the truth to dominate. Fate will be carved out, and will come on a scene soon.

War on Terror and What Should the Stand of Muslim Countries Be?

on

September 11, 2001 was troublesome on many levels; thousands of innocents lost their lives at the hands of vile terrorists. Thousands of families lost their loved ones without even knowing why. The angst of this atrocity remains locked in the brains of all those with a heart that can feel, the grief is nowhere to go. I am not saying this for the sake of saying it, I am saying it because I believe so – and I feel so. This is the account of an act of terrorism which was (at its time) the first of its kind, but did anyone notice that the havoc created by people after 9/11 is way more atrocious?
After the attacks on world trade center; US attacked Afghanistan, killed thousands and thousands of men, women and children, destroyed the whole country, and now they are thinking of leaving it at that. They created a mess greater than the one they came in to eradicate. If you doubt what I just said, consider this. US attacked to eliminate Al Qaeda, but in the process they killed thousands of civilians.

All of those civilians had families; even the terrorists they killed had families –most of whom had been bombed with the terrorists though. Now, all of those who were killed left orphans and widow.

Do you really think those children who lost their fathers will forgive and forget?

I don’t think so. In fact, they will want revenge, their innocence was taken, and they won’t want it back now.
The story didn’t end with Afghanistan; Iraq was attacked, Libya was attacked, Syria is in the line of fire now. I am sure that every one of us understands that it wasn’t just the terrorists in all of these countries, and the extremists that were killed. All over Iraq and Libya, there are similar stories to that of Afghanistan, and God forbid if they do the same to Syria, there will be more of them.
Despondently, wherever Muslim countries have been attacked, other Muslim countries have been asked for assistance. The situation of Pakistan is enough for the whole world to see where it takes you. Pakistan has been aiding US in the war on terror, and instead of curbing it; they spread the war to Pakistan. Now, US will safely exit Afghanistan when they see fit, but it is Pakistan who will have to face the extremists for a long time. The country is already a war zone because of someone else’s war, how much more do you think a third world country can bear? If you think US can completely eradicate the terrorist elements before they leave, I suggest you to take a dive into the history books, and see what happened to them in Vietnam for years on years.
So for the Muslim countries, where do they stand in the war against terror?

Well, all Muslim countries should be standing firmly against it, BUT they should not let others toy them while they are at it. Honestly, Pakistan has been used in this war like a plaything. They have lost thousands of their soldiers, got infiltrated with terrorists everywhere, bombed and threatened, but still the US authorities ask them to “do more”.
I think it is time for Pakistan and other countries like them to start thinking about themselves first. If they are to be used, and then treated like crap, they better do what is good for them, and then think about the interests of others.

The Muslim world is facing the toughest times in a long while. If we let the external elements use us, bomb us, mistreat us, and threaten us like both the terrorists, and the US are doing so to Pakistan; it won’t be long before more of us turn into Afghanistan and Iraq.

Fighting the terrorists and the extremists is what everyone should be doing, but not at the stake of losing their own country because that is what I fear about Pakistan.
