Scary dream!!!:(
Hi

I am a 15 year old girl, and last night I had a very odd dream. I'm not going to go into details but this is a summary of what happened:

-In my dream there were two jinns who had taken a human form as two boys (they looked about 16/17).

-they kept harassing me e..g evil things (e..g i'm talking to a little 6 year old boy AND his eyes go weird/red etc halfway in the conversation!

-they said they would keep annoying me unless i married one of them.

-in the dream i end up marrying one of them. But surprisingly, the one i marry isn't bad, but acts nice to me, but the other one is bad and tries to kiss me etc.

-What is the meaning of this!!??

NPA denounced for standing hijab-wearing candidate

NPA denounced for standing hijab-wearing candidate

Olivier Besancenot, the postman-turned-revolutionary at the helm of France's anti-capitalist movement, has been fiercely criticised from all sides of the political spectrum for fielding a headscarf-wearing candidate in forthcoming elections.

Ilham Moussaid, a 21-year-old Muslim woman who describes herself as "feminist, secular and veiled", is running for the far-left New Anti-Capitalist party (NPA) in the south-eastern region of Avignon. But, despite her insistence that there is no contradiction between her clothing and her political role, Moussaid's candidacy in the regional vote due in March has angered other feminists and politicians.

In an echo of the controversy raised by recent moves to ban the full, face-covering veil in public places such as schools, hospitals and buses, critics have said that the young activist's headscarf, which conceals only her hair, goes against values of laïcité – secularism – and women's rights.

Today, in a sign of how deep concerns are running, a leading feminist group announced it would file an official complaint against the NPA's list of candidates in the Vaucluse département to protest against what it called an "anti-secular, anti-feminist and anti-republican" stunt.

"In choosing to endorse 'open' laïcité, the NPA is perverting the values of the Republic and suggesting we reread them in a manner which conforms with regressive visions of women," said the Ni Putes Ni Soumises (Neither Whores Nor Submissives) association in a statement.

Others have expressed their shock at Besancenot's attempt to field a candidate who sees no problem with making an overt statement about her religion in the public sphere, a practice considered taboo.

Karbala

This ancient city in Iraq, located sixty miles southwest of Baghdad, is hosting hundreds of thousands of Shia Muslim pilgrims this week.  It was in Karbala, 1300 years ago, that Hussein (a grandson of the Prophet Muhammad) was killed.  Shia mourners have gathered here ever since, to remember his sacrifice and mourn his loss.  The BBC did a brief report in 2003 on Karbala and Najaf, the two holiest cities among Shia Muslims.

Today is the day of 'Ashura, the holiest of days in the Shia Muslim year.  Sunni Muslims also honor this day, but for different reasons and in different ways.

Four charged over racial harassment on Bristol estate

Four charged over racial harassment on Bristol estate

Two men and two boys have appeared in court after a TV programme which showed undercover reporters being racially abused in Southmead.

Sean Ganderton, 22, and Martin Durnell, 18, appeared before magistrates charged with racially aggravated harassment. The boys, 11, appeared in the youth court charged with attempted robbery.

One of them faces two further counts of attempted robbery and one count of racially aggravated harassment. During the summer reporters Tamanna Rahman and Amil Khan spent eight weeks, filming for the BBC's Panorama. During that time they became the victims of attempted muggings, were called "the most offensive racial insults" and had waterbombs, glass and rocks thrown at them.

Ganderton and Durnell did not enter a plea and were granted unconditional bail and will appear in court again on April 8.

Saudi Court Reunites Couple

Saudi Court Reunites Couple

In the Islam Forum, we have been following the case of Fatima and Mansour, a Saudi couple that was forcibly divorced by the courts of that country.  Fatima and Mansour had been happily married for three years when her half-brothers petitioned the court to annul their marriage.  The brothers claimed that Mansour had mis-represented his tribal affliliation to the family when proposing marriage in 2002.  The local courts found in favor of the brothers, and despite the objections of the couple, they were forcibly divorced.  Fatima and Mansour resisted the ruling, and their case has been pending in the court system for the past four years.  During that time, Fatima refused to return to live with her brothers and instead chose to live in prison or women's shelters with the couple's two children.

Yesterday the Arab News reported that the Supreme Judiciary Court of Saudi Arabia has overturned the annulment and ordered the couple reunited.  In their decision, the courts found fault with the brothers' argument that tribal incomptability rendered the marriage void.  In Islam, tribal background is not a condition of marriage.  The courts also found that Islamically, male blood relatives do not have the right to intervene in a marriage that has already taken place.

Brick Lane plan for 'hijab gates' angers residents

Brick Lane plan for 'hijab gates' angers residents

The Guardian of all papers endorses the myth of the "hijab gates" in Brick Lane. Even the Daily Express had the honesty to at least quote the architect, David Gallagher, who was responsible for designing the arches, as saying:

"We were briefed to design something that celebrates the demographic changes of the area. The arches were not designed to look like hijabs. Huguenot and Jewish women wore headscarves. The arches are just modern curves and they will have symbols on them reflecting the different immigrant communities. Having the Star of David on them is one option we have considered, but no decision has been made yet."

Patience in the Midst of Tragedy

Patience in the Midst of Tragedy

The heart of Islam is summed up nicely in this verse of the Qur'an:

It is not righteousness that you turn your faces towards East or West.

But it is righteousness to believe in Allah and the Last Day,

And the Angels, and the Book, and the Messengers;

To spend of your substance, out of love for Him,

For your kin, for orphans, for the needy,

for the wayfarer, for those who ask, and for the ransom of slaves;

To be steadfast in prayer And give in charity;

To fulfill the contracts which you have made;

And to be firm and patient, in pain and adversity

And throughout all periods of panic.

Such are the people of truth, the God-fearing.

Qur'an 2:177

What are YOU doing today, to help victims of suffering and adversity?
