Various communities living in France. Their interaction and attitude towards each other

on Saturday, March 23, 2013

France is a country that has a rich history and culture. It is also inhabited by people from various ethnicities, who add a lot to its lifestyle and heritage. As of 2011, France was considered to have a population of 65.8 million. The top international communities in France include Slavic, North African and Western and Central African, Southeast Asian and the Basque minority. France is one of the most ethnically diverse countries in Europe.
The main population is white Caucasian. North African people represent the largest non-indigenous group that is called Arabs. It comprises Algerians, Tunisians and Moroccans with Algerians representing the largest part in the group. Arabs come from Berber and Kabyles groups. Black African groups come mainly from French colonies of Western and Central Africa. This group is also referred to as African-Caribbeans. The Asian community originates mainly from Vietnam and Laos. The non-French speaking groups originate from China, and Tamil. Other small groups come from Armenia, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Cape Verde, Philippines, Georgia, Greece, Haiti, Iran, Italy, India, Korea, Lebanon, Romania and Turkey.

France is known for acknowledging cultural and ethnic differences, but is at the same time famous for racial discrimination problems. These discrimination problems ravaged its black and Arab groups who suffer already from unemployment and integration problems. France prides itself to be a country that recognizes all its citizens regardless of religion, race or origin. While this ideology is a noble one, reality is way different. Ex-President Nicolas Sarkozy suggested considering the American approach of equal opportunity, quotas and accurate statistics to reflect a more truthful image of France.

By France opting to categorize its ethnic groups by race and ethnicity, it would set the way for positive discrimination that is still a form of discrimination. Racial and xenophobia are deeply engraved in the French community. These attitudes are oriented mainly towards minorities and immigrants. Immigrants are usually held responsible for France’s problems including unemployment, decline in the quality of education and crime. Immigrants are seen capable of committing crime more than the average French person. An important portion of the French society thinks that immigrants should be repatriated. Discrimination and hatred acts are punishable by law. Racism can also be depicted in the country’s political system. People disagree whether minorities add value to the country. Tolerance degree varies among the French from the intolerant group to the most tolerant one. Moreover, huge efforts are made to crack down the illegal immigrants whose majority are Arab and Black African.

France views itself as a laic state and thus all funding is not allowed for religious institutions except for those having a cultural association. Islamic institutions are banned from this category as Muslims are considered to not have any historical ties to French history. Even though racism is banned in France, it is clearly a part from its everyday life. This reflects a clear failure of social integration of minorities and immigrants. A significant amount of work should be done to recognize this form of social failure, and combat it.

The Stereotype that Muslims Beat their Wives

on Wednesday, March 13, 2013

One of the most controversial and widely held stereotype is that in Islam it is justified for men to beat their wives and daughters when it is required. The Non-Muslims make use of a number of references from Hadith and Quran in order to assert that what they believe about Muslims is true. Moreover, on a number of anti-Muslim websites it is also being debated why Muslims prefer to treat women in a harsh and unjust manner. Well, all these claims are nothing more than just misconceptions and false interpretations about Islam. In reality, Islam was the first religion in the history of humanity that exalted the position of women. Before the advent of Islam in Arabia, women were only considered to be a medium of impulse satisfaction. Moreover, people in those times used to bury their daughters alive only because they considered having sons to be the symbol of power and respect.

It was the teachings of the Great Prophet Muhammad PBUH that changed the attitudes of the Arabs and the world towards the women. He PBUH ordered the whole nation to treat women with respect. Moreover, there are also a number of authenticated Hadith that assert that women deserve equal rights and respect in a similar manner to men. That’s not all, as He PBUH also raised the position of women in the society by asserting that women are our mothers, who bring up children through a number of physical hardships and care. The belief that men are allowed to disciple their wives and daughters to serve them is nothing more than just a non-existent reality. Another popular misconception is that God has created men to be superior to women. In addition, there are also a number of beliefs that the world holds about the teachings of Islam.

The only way to test the validation and truth of these conceptions is to come and see for yourself the kind of treatment the Muslims offer to women. Incidences of violence and prejudicial treatment can be seen all over the world, mostly in the non-Muslim countries where the women are raped and mistreated in a number of corporate organizations, companies, streets and at homes. In lines to this, it is evident that the belief that only Muslims mistreat their women loses its ground. Moreover, it is also quite unfortunate that a large amount of literature is also being published in a number of countries, as belonging to Islam. Now I want you to think for a second that is it difficult to publish a book in the name of Islam and adding the name of a Muslim as being its author? No it is not, as anyone can write a book about Islam based on their false beliefs and unjustified attitudes against the Muslims.

Women have indeed been ordered to respect their husbands, but the same has also been ordered to the men. In fact, the Holy Prophet PBUH has been pointed out a damnation for the men who mistreat their wives, daughters and mothers. In this regard, he PBUH also said that the one who treats his wife, daughter and mother harshly has no right to call himself a Muslim. There is no doubt in saying that Islam is the only religion in the world that can claim to be the leader in women rights.

Muslim Parents and their Responsibilities

on Sunday, March 10, 2013

Allah Almighty says, “This day I have perfected for you your religion …” (Holy Quran 5: 3).

When we become parents we find ourselves in a confusion and torn between different parenting theories. Therefore it is important to look at all the do’s of don’ts of parenting that Islam describes.

Choosing good partners

An important aspect of parenting begins even before birth, i.e. choosing righteous and responsible partners. Islam forbids marrying non believers and discourages us from marrying sinful people. At one occasion Holy Prophet (PBUH) advised believers to choose a woman because of her religion. At another occasion He (PBUH) said,

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, “The best Women are the riders of the camels and the righteous among the Women of Quraish. They are the kindest Women to their children in their childhood and the more careful Women of the property of their husbands.” (Sahih Bukhari)

Rituals and naming

Once born rituals of Adhan, circumcision (of boys), and aqeeqah should be followed. Similarly the Holy Prophet (PBUH) encouraged us to name children after prophets.

Rights of Children

Allah has given children rights over parents just like He has given parents rights over children.  The Prophet (PBUH) said “… and your child has rights over you.” Sahih Muslim

Giving children their rights is the most important aspect of Islamic upbringing. Some are as follows.

Physical needs

Giving clothes, shelter, food and healthy activities like sports. Holy Prophet (PBUH) used to play with kids; chased them during play and raced with Hazrat Ayesha (Radi Allahu Anha). Moderate recreation and festivities are also favored.

Psychological need

First and foremost is love and attention. Holy Prophet (PBUH) kissed children and allowed them to sit in his lap.

“Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Apostle kissed Al-Hasan bin Ali while Al-Aqra’ bin Habis At-Tamim was sitting beside him. Al-Aqra said, ”I have ten children and I have never kissed anyone of them,” Allah’s Apostle cast a look at him and said, ”Whoever is not merciful to others will not be treated mercifully.”(Sahih Bukhari)

Education and Training

Most important education is to let children learn Holy Quran and Sunnah. Especially Salah (Namaz) should be taught to them at a tender age.

Respect and Self esteem

It is a very important yet highly neglected right, and justice among siblings is also stressed at various occasions so as to protect children from resentment and hatred.

Protection

Children are an Amant from Allah. We are accountable for their well being in Akhirah. In today’s society sexual assault of minors has become a plague. It’s a huge responsibility of Parents to protect kids by all possible means be it by restricting servants and cousins, keeping tabs on company, raising awareness in family and building a culture where everyone is looking out for everyone.

Discipline

Islam strikes the right balance between reward and punishment. Just like pricking a sick child with needles and knives, discipline is the sour medicine for unruliness.

As a last resort and for disciplinary purpose only parents can beat children as long as they don’t hit on face and sensitive parts and don’t leave a bruise.

The concept of “spare the rod and spoil the child” was very sneered at in the western world up until now when western overindulgence is giving bitter fruits. Parents are allowed to scold their child for the purpose of discipline as advised by the Holy Prophet (PBUH). However parents cannot abuse this authority.

Hazrat Anas ibn Malik (Radi Allahu Anho) served the Holy Prophet (PBUH) for ten years when he was a boy he said. “Every work that I did was not according to the desire of my master, but He (PBUH) never said to me: Fie, nor did He (PBUH) say to me: Why did you do this? Or why did you not do this?” Holy Prophet (PBUH) himself had never beaten a child.

Holy Quran has taught many duas for off springs and many prophets made dua for their children like Hazrat Zakariya Alaih Salam. Also Holy Prophet (PBUH) forbade parents from cursing their children.

With so much rights ordained for our children by Holy Quran and Sunnah, we don’t have any room left to make an excuse with regards to their responsibility. Kids are in fact the greatest gift and blessing of Allah Almighty and we should thank Him for this precious treasure by following these guidelines.

Women who do not cover their hair deserve to be raped: Danish Muslim Scholar

on Saturday, March 9, 2013

Danish Muslim mufti Imam Shahid Mehdi sparked an outcry from the Unity List Party and the Danish People’s Party when he stated on television that women who leave their homes or fail to wear the hijab or burka are “asking for rape.” He went on to argue that women who walk around in what he believed to be immodest dressing were not worthy of any respect at all. The Copenhagen based cleric was accused of attempting to rape a 23-year old woman in a local park. She managed to escape and he chased her; she subsequently reported the incident to the police. Mehdi was arrested soon after by local police.

Imam Mehdi argued that the charges against him were racist in nature. When he was being interrogated by Copenhagen police, he refused to plead guilty and maintained that the accusation that he attempted to rape the alleged victim were fabricated against him because he is of Pakistani origin. Although he denied ever having to attempted raping anyone, he did not stop there. Imam Shahid Mehdi, speaking on a local television show “Talk to Gode” is reported to have said: “She disobeys her master, there are two places in the Qur’an where it was ordered to cover themselves. Women make a clean society dirty when they walk around without a Hijab. They are not entitled to respect and are not valuable as those who wear a Hijab.”

Local politicians admitted that Mehdi’s comments could incite Muslim men to rape Danish women who opt not to dress according to his interpretation of the teachings of Islam. As a jurist and Imam of the Islamic Religious Community masjid in Dortheavej, Copenhagen, Mehdi has a considerable following in Denmark, and his insinuation that women who do not cover their hair deserve to be raped could be taken seriously by many. Most striking, however, is the fact that Mehdi is serving as the Rector of a private Muslim school.

It will be interesting to see how this incident affects the relationship between Muslims and non-Muslims in Denmark. Although most Muslims have integrated into Danish society, these comments are bound to increase the level of Islamophobia in a country that is already considerably divided over immigration policies and religion in the public space. The ultra-conservative Danish People’s Party will surely take advantage of this to further its anti-Islamic agenda. Those Muslims and non-Muslims who were peacefully and happily coexisting in Europe are the ultimate losers of the actions of Muslim extremists like Imam Shahid Mehdi and extremist political parties such as the Denmark People’s Party.

Oklahoma City Muslim family members think they were targeted because of their faith

on Sunday, February 3, 2013

Members of a Muslim family whose house was shot at during a drive-by Thursday evening think they were targeted because of their faith.

Tuesday, a stranger driving by Allie and Maryam Taghavi's home in southwest Oklahoma City stopped and asked their 21-year-old son the family's religion.

A large sign hung on the porch and visible from the road said, "as-salamu alaykum," an Arabic phrase often used by Muslims meaning "peace be with you."

Without any suspicion, their son told the stranger they were Muslim, Allie Taghavi said. The stranger then drove away.

Then, two days later on Thursday evening, Allie Taghavi was home with three of his adult children when shots were fired around 7:45 p.m. from a car driving south on S Olie Avenue near their home at SW 30. "I screamed when I heard the shots, but it was so rapid ... like firecrackers," he said.

Allie Taghavi ran from his bedroom into his 23-year-old daughter's room where a bullet had come through the east side of their house, piercing a wall a few feet away from where she was sitting at her computer desk.

Seconds later, shots were fired into the bedroom just to the south where Allie Taghavi had been. One bullet crossed the width of his bedroom and passed into a bathroom where it lodged in the wall.

No one was injured in the incident. The family fled its home after police cleared the scene a few hours later. Family members said they don't plan to return.

Police Master Sgt. Gary Knight said Oklahoma City's gang unit is investigating the incident because it was reported as a drive-by shooting. Police responded to a call about multiple rounds being fired into the home from a car driving south on S Olie Avenue.

Two bullet holes were found in the home. No one had been arrested as of Friday evening.

Muslim NFL Football Stars Give Up Their Sport In Order to Go To Mecca for Pilgrimage

on Thursday, January 10, 2013

Husain and Hamza Abdullah made a trip to Mecca in 2012 because they felt that it was something that was very important. They told their coaches that they would no longer be able to play in that season. Husain was 27 years old and was a member of the Minnesota Vikings whereas Hamza was 29 years old and he was a member of the Arizona Cardinals. They went on pilgrimage because they wanted to show Americans another side of their life and inform them about their faith. These two footballs players used to play in front of thousands of fans every week. They were also given around a million dollars every single year. They gave all of that up so that they could complete one pillar of Islam.

Both Hamza and Husain reveal that when they are playing on the field they experience abuse off and on from other players. This may be due to the fact that Americans are somewhat afraid of Islam and Muslims are not seen in a very positive light by many in the West. These two brothers showed the world that there is something known as multiculturalism present in the world. One can practice their religion by still being a good American.

The brothers felt that it was important to take this journey and this is why they took their parents along with them. Before they left for their journey they were travelling for 30 days around America. They would go to a different mosque each day of their journey and would talk to others about how important it is for Muslims to fast. Also, they shared information about how they fasted during football season.

They took a long journey to Mecca and when they got there no one could distinguish the poor from the rich. Everyone looked the same in the clothing that was worn. Overall it was a great experience for the two brothers and they were able to fulfill the teachings of their religion. This also opened the eyes of many Americans. They were able to see their favorite stars do something apart from playing football. The brothers felt that after 9/11 they were treated a bit differently. However they feel that this incident was a learning experience because people started to ask questions of what Islam really teaches.

Hamza and Husain are truly role models for Muslims and non-Muslims all over the world. They take pride in their religion and are helping to show people that Islam is a religion of peace. Muslims should be dedicated to Islam just like these brothers. Their example is something that we should follow because they are truly amazing Muslims and football players!

Muslim Brothers Showed Their Christmas Spirit

on Thursday, December 27, 2012

Giving out their colleague Filipinos the character of sharing, Muslim physicians from different regions have helped to take over employment swings throughout Christmas celebration voluntarily, presenting their Christian fellow citizens a chance to commemorate the special event.

“They supposed Muslims never commemorate Christmas in any case, thus Muslims preferred those days so that physicians and health workers in these districts will be able to have a rest and expend Christmas with their relatives”, hospital worker Mary Divene Hilario told to the media on December 17.

Distressed through the tropical storm that knock Mindanao prior to this week, health examinations have been place on soaring awareness, that makes it complicated for Christian physicians to acquire holidays to observe Christmas with their folks. However, the circumstances twisted subsequent to Muslim physicians from Provincial Health Office in Mindanao who take over.

In the region of Davao, a group of physicians and nurses from Maguindanao, a region that also developed into the target for health operations throughout the wars of 2000’s. The missions were traveled by as far as 200 miles in eleven hours of travel by bus just to conduct health duties to the victims of the typhoon Pablo. Headed by Dr. Tahir Sulaik, a provincial health officer, he brought a squad of almost 100 and 6 of them undergone a car misfortune in Baganga in the noon of December 18 and had to be treated in the hospital. The six members, five doctors and a driver were treated first in Cateel regional hospital and transferred to Davao City during that night, travelling almost 7 hours.

A number of health squads from the administration divisions outside the district have arrive to offer medical services, as well, to the tropical storm victims for example squads from Iligan City, Pagadian City, Metro Manila, and Sorsogon Province. Squads from not-public clusters have as well been performing their individual health tasks.

In spite of the Muslim venture, general practitioners’ deficiency continues to be a crisis in the areas of tropical storm victims. Tablets and medications aren’t a dilemma, “We have more than enough, but we still need doctors.” Hilario added.

Tropical storm Bopha, or named Pablo in Philippine territory of responsibility, has knock Philippines from December 3-10, exterminating more than a thousand inhabitants. It was the toughest typhoon to ever strike the Southern Philippines, formulating landfall in 5th category tremendous tropical storm with speed of 259 kilometer per hour.
Nurses made clear that there are zero occurrences of sicknesses, however recognized there were 3 alleged cases of measles in a small town of Compostela Valley region. They uttered immunization squads from the local headquarters and positioned to the district on December 15 and to the small towns of New Bataan on December 16.

MAYA CIVILIZATION AND THEIR PREDICTIONS

on Friday, December 21, 2012

The Mayan civilization was one of the greatest civilizations in the past. The civilization of the Mayans was regarded as a group of people who spent their lives in Central America but now very few Mayans actually live there. The Mayans were the only ones in America who used written language before the arrival of Columbus in America. They were extremely skilled in building, art, math, planets and stars, that’s why they have their own calendars known as Mayan Calendar. For 1200 years, the Civilization of the Mayans dominated Mesoamerica, while Europe was still in the dark ages. Approximately 12 centuries ago, the civilization collapsed. The people of the Mayan civilizations traded with other people and ethnic groups residing in the Americas. Their artistic designs and huge buildings have great styles. The people from Spain arrived from the start of the 15th century and silently covered the whole area of  Central America, even taking over the main area of Mayans.

The Mayan Calendar is one of the greatest inventions of the Mayan Civilization. The Mayans invented their calendar with great accuracy and great complexity. The calendar is inside the ancient Mayan Pyramid Chichen Itza, Yucatan, Mexico. The Pyramid of Kukulkan, known as Chichen Itza, was built during the late Mayan period and this pyramid was used as a calendar having four stairways, each stairway with 91 steps and a platform at the upper end of the stairway, totaling 365 steps, and equivalent to the days in a calendar year. The Mayans believed that we are approaching the end of the world on December 21, 2012. Although, some of the Mayan elders believed that it will just be a transition of time from one age to another.

During the era that emerged between 900 AD and  ended on 1000 AD, the Mayan cities were believed to face huge problems until most of the people left, and only a few remained. The Mayan civilization then faced big hurdles in making big structures, monuments and buildings. The people there did not predict those huge catastrophes that occurred at that time.   They have many different thoughts and opinions on what occurred. Some of them believe that there were some environmental changes like disaster or flood, or some sort of disease that erupted amongst the people. Maybe there were just too many people for the amount of food produced. There is still ambiguity about what happened to the Mayan people.

The Civilization of the Mayans invented the number zero, they had a very futuristic approach towards medicine, they used herbs as a part of their medicine, their studies were used frequently in modern Medicine, and they were extremely advanced in dental hygiene. The Mayans had a great idea of the constellations, stars, and time. At that time, rulers could predict solar and lunar eclipses, droughts, heavy rains and upcoming astronomical events. The Mayan calendar is one of the oldest calendars. It is basically an energy tracking machine that is used to describe the energy for creation in which each day, person and era is unique, The Mayan calendar was inured to make a decision about the spirits of the child, and his/her nature of job in this universe that had to be done. The child’s future talents depend upon the date and point in time of the delivery. The ruler is also the sole owner to decide the work that was made for that child. In fact, the Mayan civilization was rich in culture and one of the greatest civilizations ever on earth.

How Muslims can record their protests in a peaceful manner

on Thursday, November 8, 2012

A RELIGION OF PEACE

Islam is a religion of peace and it teaches us to respect all other religions and their followers. History gives us many proofs that Muslims have always respected the religions of others. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) said in his last summon that no one will harm the religious places of the non-Muslims, and every non-Muslim will be free to move around and follow his religion. Then, why do non-Muslims all over the world victimize the Muslims and disrespect Islam? It is the utmost duty of a Muslim to protest strongly whenever they see any offensive activity against their Prophet (PBUH), and defend their religion in the best possible way. History shows that Muslims have always been living in peace with non-Muslims.

Presently, Muslims are aggressive all over the world in response to an act of offense by a non-Muslim. Muslims are destroying public property, and even taking lives of innocent people in their rage. This is a very wrong way of protesting and Islam does not recommend us to do this, because by doing so Muslims are depicting a wrong image of themselves. Some political parties do it on purpose, as they know that the Muslims will react aggressively and turn violent. Muslims should understand the reasons for such offenses being committed, and in order to eradicate the problem they should find a peaceful solution to the problem.

The Muslim governments should take strict actions and all the Muslims countries should unite and file a petition in the UN to pass laws in which any offense against any religion should be regarded as a crime and any person who condones such activities should be punished severely. Muslims should learn the basic knowledge of Islam and should start preaching their religion, to create a better understanding among people.  Muslims should work on an international level to promote unity among the Muslim nations. Because, getting violent and damaging property are not the solutions, rather unity among the Muslims and peaceful preaching is the solution to the problem.

Atheists ignore Islamophobia at their peril

on Thursday, August 30, 2012

Chris Stedman, author of the forthcoming book Faitheist: How an Atheist Found Common Ground with the Religious, notes that "there are worrying indicators that public figures in the atheist movement are perpetuating and enabling a hostile stance toward Muslims – in many cases, above and beyond the criticisms they direct at other religious communities".

He also criticises the failure of many of his fellow atheists to speak out when ethno-religious minorities are targeted, adding: "silence about the recent spike in bias and violence directed at Muslims, Sikhs, Arabs, and others isn't a problem exclusive to the atheist community, but by neglecting to tackle it, the atheist movement is opting out of an important conversation about the mistreatment of certain minority groups in the United States".

Stedman writes: "As a minority community in America's religious milieu, it makes strategic sense for atheists to ally with Muslims, Sikhs, and others. But as a Humanist atheist, I feel a sense of moral obligation to stand up against identity-based hatred, no matter whom it's directed at. Not only is it absurd to hope that people should care about the lack of acceptance for atheists in the United States without also hoping that society will similarly embrace other communities, it's also selfish. Atheists who remain silent about Islamophobia aren't just missing out on a strategic opportunity to highlight the parallels between their own experiences and those of other disenfranchised religious minorities – they're opting out of an opportunity to do what is right, to take the moral high road, and to demonstrate what we keep telling the rest of the world: that atheists can be 'good without God'."

Muslim State and their relation with other States

on Thursday, July 5, 2012

Islam is a complete religion. Our Prophet Mohammad (Peace be Upon Him) has told us and showed us the right way of every aspect of life and we can implement it in this modern world too. So therefore, Islam has also showed us the right way of ruling and how to keep relation with other states.

Islam is a religion of peace and no Muslim State can follow a policy of territorial expansion and unprovoked aggression. The foreign policy of a Muslim state should be such as to advance the cause of Islam and the moral, cultural and political objectives of its society and to preserve and protect its territorial integrity. The Quran and the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) Sunnah provide sufficient guidance to enable a Muslim state to frame its foreign policy.

The first Muslim State in Madinah was established and governed by the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him). It was a confederacy of villages inhabited by Muslims, Jews, Christians and pagan Arabs. Like other aspects of life in Islam, international relations of a Muslim state are based on Divine guidance given in the Quran. They are based on the following principles:

  • Belief in the unity of mankind, in origin, in human status and in aims.
  • Respect for other people’s interests and rights of life, honor and property, as long as they do not encroach upon the rights of Muslim.
  • Maintaining peaceful relations with the exchange of goodwill missions.
  • Intolerance of encroachment in international relations. The Islamic state must defend itself and suppress all attempts to violate or disturb its peace, or endanger its security or exploit its peaceful policies.

The law of war and peace in Islam does not allow an aggressive war nor makes the killing of people and animals or the destruction of crops; homes and places of worship its objective. It does not allow the killings of woman, children and aged people nor the torture of war prisoners or the imposition of its teaching on the conquered people. It is only a defensive measure justified as long as wrong, injustice and aggression exists in the world.
Fulfilling the obligation undertaken by the Muslim state and honoring the treaties concluded between the Islamic State and other states. This is binding as long as the other parties remain faithful to their obligation and honor their treaties.

The state does not exist only for itself and its own subjects. It has a wide scope and an important mission in the international field. It has not only to strive for the prosperity and advancement of its own citizens but also makes valuable contributions to humanity on an international level in education, economics, industry, politics and other fields.

Islam seeks to establish a world community, with complete equality among people without distinction of race, class or country. It seeks to convert by persuasion, allowing no compulsion in religion beliefs. According to Islam, it is the duty of every individual to make constant efforts for spreading good and preventing evil.

You are the best of the nations raised up for (the benefit of) men, you enjoin what is right and forbid the wrong and believe in Allah.” (Surah Al-Imran 3:110)

Report: Muslim Academy Teachers Do NOT Beat Their Students

on Tuesday, May 29, 2012

Muslim Academy is an online portal to understanding the Arabic language, Muslim culture, and Islam – everything you need to understand the modern Muslim world.  We offer private, live, one on one instruction in both Arabic language, Islam, and Tajweed.  Our lessons are online, taught via Skype, with native speakers of Arabic living in Egypt.  At the end of each lesson, the student receives a copy of his lesson so that he or she can constantly learn from it.  As an online teaching center, we often get many questions about how things are different from private, in home instruction.

Well, one benefit is the cost advantages.  In places like America and the United Kingdom, private instruction can cost as much as USD $30 per hour because the cost of living is so much higher.  Teachers earn much more money.  At Muslim Academy, we have exceptionally talented, native speakers who live and breathe the Arabic language, and who can offer rates much lower than those in the West, because the cost of living is lower.  We’re talking as low as $6.73.  What???  Also, in the West, you may be taught by someone named Fred or Jack or Suzie, i.e. someone who has very likely never studied Arabic in an actual Arabic speaking country before.   At Muslim Academy, we’re native speakers of the Arabic language, so you know you’re getting people who actually know what they’re talking about.  At Muslim Academy, we’re cheaper, and offer higher quality instruction, than the other guys.

Another advantage is the time.  With in person classes, there is often a set time that people have to get up to get to a school and be on time, sometimes through the snow and the rain and the sleet.  And if they are not on time, all the other students laugh at them.  At Muslim Academy, you can learn from the comfort of your home.  We don’t ask whether you are wearing your pajamas or not, because wearing pajamas is your fundamental right.  You can eat cookie dough during classes, you can have Oprah in the background.  We don’t know and we don’t care.  Can real life classes say the same thing?  At Muslim Academy, we don’t care if you wear your pajamas or eat cookie dough while learning Arabic language.

The third advantage is how smart you can look in front of your peers.  If you’re in school, learning Arabic language with Muslim Academy will help you get better grades and impress you in front of your classmates.  Let’s face it, you’ll look cool.  You’ve probably struggled with getting good grades in Arabic because you have nobody to practice with.  Why is nobody else learning Arabic?  We have no idea.  If you want a job with a top secret government organization, what language do you think the government wants.  French? Yeah go back to Napoleonic times buddy.   No, in today’s world you need to learn Arabic.  Did we say our lessons our cheaper?  That’s good because you’ll need the money for all the dates you’re going to have.  At Muslim Academy, learning Arabic will make you cool, and probably get you a date because you’re so cool.

Finally, learning Arabic language with Muslim Academy means that your teacher is 1,000 miles away.  According to LearnArabicTV, some teachers beat their students.  Well, we can assure you Muslim Academy never beats our students – even if we wanted to, we can’t beat people through Skype – an online connection.  Can we back up this claim?  Absolutely.  Just watch the video below.  Don’t all schools claim not to beat their students?  No they don’t.  Show us one school that has on their blog they don’t beat their students, and we’ll give you a free class.  At Muslim Academy, we don’t beat our students.  That’s our guarantee.

Yeah, we said it.  We had the guts to say it.  Not many do.  That’s what makes us different.  We’re the young generation.  We’re the future.  We’re Muslim Academy.  Language.  Culture.  Religion.

To the Max.

Alan Lake and Roberta Moore have a difference of opinion over killing their political opponents

on Sunday, April 29, 2012

Happier times: Alan Lake and Roberta MooreRichard Bartholomew points out that the 4 Freedoms Community website run by former English Defence League financier and ideologist Alan Ayling ("Alan Lake") has updated its Code of Conduct.

Under the heading "Unlawful Killing" this now includes the following: "You must not endorse or encourage people to perform criminal executions. However, you can endorse enforcement of execution by the state (capital punishment) after application of due judicial process."

The latter qualification is to cover Ayling himself, who has in the past advocated the execution of political opponents like Rowan Williams, David Cameron and Nick Clegg. Still, as long Ayling states that their killing should take place after "application of due judicial process" nobody could reasonably object to that, could they? Well, Ayling's employers, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, evidently did. At the end of last year they suspended him from his job after his identity was revealed.

The ban on endorsing or encouraging "criminal executions", as distinct from the sort of executions Ayling himself advocates, was imposed after he was contacted by the Norwegian paper Dagbladet in connection with a comment posted on the 4 Freedoms site by Roberta Moore, the former leader of the EDL Jewish division who now heads the Jewish Defence League UK.

Expressing her regret that Anders Breivik had failed to kill Eskil Pedersen, the leader of the Norwegian Labour Party's youth section who escaped from Utøya by boat, Moore wrote: "It seems Breivik missed one. This is precisely the coward that should have been killed. Cowards can run but eventually they meet their fate. May KARMA play its part now."

Five years ago four Muslim extremists were jailed for four to six years after being convicted of soliciting to murder because they chanted slogans such as "bomb, bomb, Denmark", "bomb, bomb the UK", "7/7 on its way" and "Europe, you will pay with your blood" at a protest in London against the Jyllands-Posten anti-Islam cartoons.

The Director of Public Prosecutions said at the time: "Terrorism attacks our way of life and incitement can make a very real contribution to it. We shall continue to take incitement very seriously and prosecute it robustly where there is enough evidence for us to do so."

Why, then, has Roberta Moore not been charged with the same offence?

Moore is not the only member of the Jewish Defence League UK to advocate terrorist violence against their political opponents. Another is Rob Sims, who posted the following comment on the EDL's official Facebook page in response to Breivik's trial:

"We should be supporting this guy, The lot he killed where a bunch of Anti-Semite scum, These left wing idiots and muslims are making europe resemble Germany under NSDAP rule, Whats it gonna take for people to realise that we need more people like Breivik who are willing to actually fight for what he believes in."

So far as we know no action has been taken against Sims either, even though Durham Constabulary has been notified.

If the police and Crown Prosecution Service can find the resources to prosecute a Muslim teenager for posting offensive online comments about British troops, why aren't the likes of Moore and Sims in court too?
