Al-Quran, the source of infinite knowledge

A GREAT SOURCE OF KNOWLEDGE

Al-Qur’an is considered as the highest source of knowledge. The greatness of the Qur’an in the case of knowledge can’t be described in words. There is no issue in the world that can’t be solved by the Qur’an. If we study the Qur’an, we will find all branches of knowledge such as Geography, Solar Science, Physics, Chemistry, Psychology, Biology, Anthropology, Social Science, History, Philosophy and many more. Being an infinite source of knowledge, the Qur’an has created scientific and innovative thinking among people since it has been sent down to the Prophet Muhammad (SM) from Almighty Allah. The Qur’an is a great guide for us to succeed in this mortal life and the “next life”.

It is thought of by a lot of new Muslims that it is the Qur’an which has helped them to familiarize with Islam. Many non-Muslims have become Muslims due to the studying of the Qur’an. While studying, they found solutions to their problems. It is true that there are no versions of Qur’an, and IT doesn’t need to be updated. The main reason being that it is not written up by humans who are prone to making mistakes. Human beings have a lot of limitations because they are only a creation. But Allah is not a creation; rather, he’s created everything in this world and the “next world”.

By strictly following the teachings of the Qur’an in the past, Muslims succeeded in every aspect of life that couldn’t be achieved by any non-Muslims. Muslims were the greatest in medicine, science, and technology. But now, Muslims are being oppressed around the world. The root reason of the failure of Muslims is that they don’t follow the teachings of the Qur’an. They are becoming busier with the enjoyments of this world. As a result, the prosperous tradition of Muslims is being destroyed. So, the Muslims ought to be careful about their faults, about the mistakes that are being carried on by them. Muslims from all around the world should be united to bring their old affluent tradition back. As Islam is the only religion that is accepted by Almighty Allah, Muslims should always dominate in the world. It is only possible if they keep going on with the teachings of the Holy Qu’ran.

WAYS TO GAIN KNOWLEDGE ABOUT ISLAM

Islam is a monotheistic religion that was also the religion of Abraham, which was brought by the Quran. In Islam all Muslims believe in one supreme God and nothing can be compared to His greatness and our purpose as Muslims is to serve and love God. Islam concludes all the faiths that were brought by the prophets who were before like Jesus, Moses and Abraham and they have maintained the original revelation but Quran is the final revelation of Allah. All Muslims are requested to have adverse knowledge in the religion of Islam so that it becomes easier for us to know what God expects from us. There are various ways to learn Islam as an adult. These includes-

  • You may look for literature that has some content about the introduction of Islam which may entail the pillars of Islam, how to pray, rituals and beliefs of Islam. This will be greatest step of learning Islam but you should not use books that are not written with Muslims who have adverse knowledge in Islam.
  • You should interact with other Muslims and spend more time with them so that you see whatever practices they indulge themselves in. Going to a mosque could be the best place to meet other Muslims and also ask them questions about the religion of Islam. There are also some books that are available inside the mosque that may play an important role in helping you to understand Islam.
  • There are so many centers around the world that offer assistance to new converts of Islam .Try and visit one of these centers that is near you and tell them how you want to be assisted, and surely they will welcome you and teach you slowly about Islam. You do not need to be ashamed because you find that there are very young kids who know more about Islam than you, instead this should be a motivation to you to also want your kids to be like them which is a good thing.
  • Take a Quran and read it everyday even if the reading is done in English that is if you do not know how to read in Arabic. If you find that there is something that you do not comprehend, mark it and confirm from the other Muslims to avoid misinterpretations in the meaning of the words in the Quran. This is important because the Quran is the source of your motivation and teachings.
  • Look for books that contain the sayings of Muhammad Pbuh also known as the Hadeeth such as Sahih Muslim and Sahih Bukhari. This will give you an overview of what Muhammad teaches us in Islam.
  • You can also visit the Islamic websites that are widely available on the internet and post questions about Islam and the questions are answered by many willing people but some of them may be providing you with inaccurate information so you have to be careful and confirm your answers.
  • The last step is to collect all your findings about Islam and come up with a conclusion and by this time you would have benefited since you now know about Islam .You must also practice what you have learned so that you also teach others in future.

What does the Quran say about seeking knowledge

on Thursday, May 24, 2012

Even today the aspect of Socrates has a quote large place in the religious world irrespective of the distractions amongst other religions. Since Islamic education is based on the Qur’an and the Sunnah, it is considered to be as empirical since that it’s based on divine guidance due to the fact that knowledge is based upon recollection alone. This philosophy is based on the fact that people could grasp their reality only according to their senses, since the reality is actually beyond the senses. Its not unknowing to understand that the visible world is the least understood when compared to the invisible world. In other words it could be said that this physical world is like a shadow, which would also disappear into the shadow too! Islamic education has also been affected by the theory of metaphysics.

The last and final message sent by God – The Qur’an – has accepted this challenge by completely diminishing this Socratic-Platonist concept as precisely mention in Chapter 38, verse 27, “And we did not create the heaven and the earth and that between them aimlessly. That is the assumption of those who disbelieve, so woe to those who disbelieve from the Fire”. Its also explained in Chapter 53, verse 31 as, “And to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth – that He may recompense those who do evil with [the penalty of] what they have done and recompense those who do good with the best [reward]”. Additionally Chapter 45, verse 22 says, “And Allah created the heavens and the earth in truth and so every soul shall be recompensed for what it has earned, and they will not be wronged”.

These three verses of the Qur’an mentioned in the previous paragraph clearly show that the people who wander about the land and do not observe the worship of Allah, are in fact unbelievers. It also identified the believers as those who contemplate on the Creation of Allah and strive to understand this world and how it all functions. The Qur’an has told the muttaquin or the believers to follow the methodology as given in Chapter 17 verse 36, “And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge. Indeed the hearing, the sight and the heart – about those entire one] will be questioned”

The Qur’an mentions in Chapter 7 verse 179, “And we have certainly created the Hell many of the Jinn and mankind. They have hearts with which they do not understand, they have eyes with which they do not see, and they have eyes with which they do not hear. Those are like livestock rather they are more astray, it is they who are the heedless”. This precisely shows the fact that the disbelievers are actually worst than even the livestock!, because even the animals believe and worship their Creator and by doing so they know and have a purpose of life, but the disbelieving human being has absolutely no purpose for his life at all and only wanders about the land searching for no reason at all!
