JAMAICA, New York (March 2, 2013) – The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) issued a press release today on the escalating violence in Bangladesh.
 
The current regime has introduced one-party rule in Bangladesh by silencing opposing views, and the country has quickly descended into anarchy. Extra-judicial killings, abduction, and murders of journalists and opposition figures are rampant.

The regime has created the International Crimes Tribunal under the guise of trying those responsible for 1971 war crimes. Instead, this court is being used to silence opposition figures such as well-known religious scholar Delware Hossain Sayedee, who was recently condemned to death without proper trial.

The regime has also organized massive rallies, utilizing the government apparatus to pressure judges for the death penalty while opposition rallies are being crushed. Just days ago police shot and killed 35 peaceful protestors who were protesting against unjust verdicts.

Ambassador-at-large Stephen Rapp, the United Nations, Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, the International Bar Association and numerous other agencies have expressed serious concern that courts such as the International Crimes Tribunal are in violation of international laws.

ICNA President Naeem Baig appealed to the Obama administration and particularly the U.S. Department of State saying, “The International Crimes Tribunal is in serious violation of human rights. We must pressure the Bangladesh government to reconstitute the tribunal based on international standards and recommendations by Ambassador-at-Large Stephen Rapp.”

The United Nations has noticed NZ First MP Richard Prosser's "Wogistan" rant about Muslims.

Reports about his magazine article calling for young Muslims to be banned from Western airlines went around the world and now the UN's Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination has had its say.

"The committee regrets the recent inflammatory remarks by a Member of Parliament vilifying persons from Central Asia or the Middle East based on their skin colour and country of origin as well as their religion," it says in the New Zealand section of its latest report.

"It welcomes the strong criticism of such statements by the Minister of Justice and Ethnic Affairs and the Race Relations Commissioner, among others."

Mr Prosser wrote in his column for Investigate magazine that most terrorists were Muslims. "Misogynist troglodytes from Wogistan are threatening our way of life and security of travel in the name of their stone-age religion," he wrote.

Mr Prosser was reprimanded by NZ First leader Winston Peters and apologised for his remarks. Justice Minister Judith Collins, Prime Minister John Key and MPs from all the parties in parliament condemned him for making them.

Mr Prosser says he wrote the column because he was annoyed when his penknife was confiscated at Christchurch Airport.

George Galloway took to the stage last night to re-launch his Respect party in Newham and try to force a local election after the council rejected plans for a so-called mega mosque.

Mr Galloway vowed to put a petition up on the Downing Street website, as soon as parliament resumes after its Christmas break, demanding Newham Council changes its decision on the mosque or changes its leadership.

Mr Galloway, a former MP for Bethnal Green and Bow and now the MP for Bradford West, said he believed Newham is ready for a political revival after Newham councillors voted down a planning application for a mosque holding more than 9,000 people in Canning Town, run by followers of the controversial Tablighi Jamaat movement.

More than 50 people turned out for the public meeting in Plaistow which also saw Lee Jasper, a former advisor to previous London Mayor Ken Livingstone and Yvonne Ridley, a war correspondent who converted to Islam after being captured by the Taliban, take to the stage.

Dressed all in black Mr Galloway told people gathered inside Harold Road Centre, off Green Street, that he would send one of his top people to challenge Newham Mayor Sir Robin Wales' leadership in Newham at the next local election. He did not rule out that he might take on the challenge himself.

If the Respect party does not succeed in forcing an early election in Newham, following the refusal of the mosque, then the party plans to put up a Mayoral candidate and councillors in 2014 when elections are due.

Mr Galloway said: "Newham is ready for a political revival and as far as we're concerned it begins here tonight. We know there is something rotten in this borough. New Labour has far too much power for the good of the borough.

He then hit out at the councillors decision to reject the mosque. "It's a big mosque because a lot of people want to pray to the almighty. What is wrong with praying?"

Mr Galloway went on to say that you can lend money at high interest rates at a time when "destructive" aspects of society such as alcohol and gambling is rife. "But you can't build a mosque," he said.

"There are 90,000 Muslims voters in Newham as Labour is going to find out at the next local election. And they have all just got a slap in the face by their own leadership."

He asked the audience if they thought the council would have turned down plans for a Catholic church or Jewish synagogue. "They did it because the people involved are Muslims. And because they thought they could get away with it," he said

And he warned New Labour they could suffer the same fate as in Tower Hamlets where he defeated their MP Oona King in 2005.

Mr Galloway said: "Oona King, who is now skating on ice, voted to attack Iraq when 90 per cent of her electorate where against the war because she thought she could get away with it because who else would they vote for in Tower Hamlets. There was only me so she thought there would just be a bit of rocking of the boat."

He branded the decision to reject the mosque an insult to Muslims in Newham. "We can't take the decision on the mosque lying down. All my experience in Bradford and Tower Hamlets tells me that if you fail first time try again. The leadership in Newham must be changed."

Newham previously had three Respect councillors but all sitting councillors are Labour.

Islam is the most peaceful and loving religion in the world, which is based on the principles of brotherhood and equality. Islam does not permit any Muslim to harm others. Today, it is a negative perception that Islam promotes terrorism, violence and war. The general media has played a very negative role in changing the views of the people around the globe. People rely on the media and is easily influenced by it. It is said that behind every trouble there is always a Muslim, but the following questions will bring you closer to reality:

• Were the first and the second world wars started by the Muslims?
• Were the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombed by the Muslims?
• Who is responsible for the thousands of innocent civilians killed in Hiroshima and Nagasaki?
• More than 20 million Aborigines were killed in Australia. By whom? The Muslims?
• Who was behind the mass murder of over 6 million Jews in Germany? The Muslims?
• Were Muslims responsible for enslaving around 180 million Africans and later throwing them into the Atlantic Ocean?

ISLAM CONDEMNS TERRORISM

No, they were not Muslims but people from other religions. These are very few examples which never came into discussion in the international media. Islam is a religion of peace and Allah and his messenger have not granted any permission to kill or terrorize other people. There are certain conditions in which Muslims are allowed to fight, but only in self defense. The Prophet Mohammad S.A.W instructed the Muslims during the war time, such that, “Do not kill women or children or non-combatants and do not kill old people or religious people.” The Prophet (PBUH) even ordered, not to cut fruit bearing trees and not to poison the water wells.  Then, how can such a peaceful religion promote terrorism? Islam promotes harmony, and believes in equality, no matter to which religion you belong. Islam does not only believe in ideals, but is also a very practical religion. Islam never allows anyone to enter into war, except in certain conditions. This includes self defense and to fight against any aggression and injustice. Muslims are allowed to fight when they are persecuted and subjected to injustice and cruelty.

In the Holy Qur’an (Surah 22, Verses 39-40), Allah gives permission of war to Muslims who are under oppression and unjust rule. This does not mean that during a war the Muslims are allowed to do whatever they want. Islam does not permit brutal atrocities and condemns the barbaric killing of people. Even the enemy, captured during a war, is to be treated the same way as the Muslims treat their own people. Prophet S.A.W ordered Muslims to offer the enemy, captured during a war, the same food and clothes that the Muslims wear themselves. Islam is a caring religion, and tolerance towards the various cultures in different parts of the world should be practiced always, be it peace or war.

Day in and Day out, I have reiterated the position – and my staunch perception – that Islam definitely condemns any, and all assault against the innocent people. I have reiterated the position – and my staunch perception – that in no way, appearance, or type does Islam excuse the getting of innocent human. I have reiterated the position – and my staunch perception – that Islam’s position on the sanctity of life is unequivocal and pushes my everlasting judgement of all assault against the not guilty.

 It just could not be more obvious than that.

The Qur’an can’t be more obvious about the sanctity of life:

 ”And do not take a life that God has made sacred, except for just cause.” (17:33)

However, even now, many critics, such as some who are publishing books against Islam, seductive that I say so with a “virtual wink.” They have stated to say that, when I say “innocent,” it is a packed phrase, that it does not mean what individuals may think this implies. They think that “innocent” does not really mean”innocent” that my description of “innocent” is not their description of “innocent.”

Let me say this and say this clearly: “Innocent” indicates just that.

So, when I say, “innocent life,” I mean individuals going for walks the roads and driving the vehicles of Tel Aviv.

When I say, “innocent life,” I mean the military men having launch at Ft covers who were mercilessly gunned down by their other fellow Nidal Malik Hasan.

When I say, “innocent life,” I mean people who worked in World Trade Center to earn their livelihood, but they were mercilessly killed by extremists.

When I say, “innocent life,” I mean the Muslims all across the community who go to praise at their particular mosques on Fridays, or store at regional marketplaces, or take a position in range at cops selecting facilities and get blown a part by the barbarian neo-Kharijites

When I say, “innocent life,” I mean the Honest, and Jewish individuals, and Islamists, and another spiritual unprivileged that reside in Islamic greater part organizations.

When I say, “innocent life,” I mean just that.

Certainly, probably the extremists equivocate when they say, “innocent life,” but that’s just it: they are extremists, and there turned edition of truth is not to be taken seriously. It is to be opposed at every phase and every convert. Wherever it happens, the getting of not-guilty life is decried by my trust and abhorred by me and the frustrating greater part of Muslims like me. And when I say, “innocent life,” I mean just that.

A contentious leaflet, distributed by the Conservative Party, has been slammed by Labour councillors.

The leaflet, which was sent out by the Tory party this week, in a last ditch attempt for votes, highlighted the controversial issue of the Dudley Mosque, which was rejected by High Court last month and suggested the Labour Party would be in favour of it if elected.

In his winner's speech, new councillor for Gornal, Dave Branwood, condemned the election literature, saying: "The Tory party should be ashamed and embarrassed about it."

While Shaukat Ali, the new Deputy Leader of the Council, compared the Conservative Party to the EDL and BNP in his speech, saying: "It is a real sad state of affairs when you get a major party stoop so low by putting all these leaflets out, showing their desperation. We need to work together to promote Dudley as a borough."

The mayor of  Molenbeek, Philippe Moureaux (Parti Socialiste), has made some very harsh remarks about the RTBF [Radio Télévision Belge Francophone] journalists who made the "Questions à la Une" programme broadcast last Wednesday and titled "Should we fear Islam?", speaking of "manipulation of information" and going so far as to characterise the authors as "racists" and "Islamophobes".

"This is a totally outrageous programme", he said in a telephone interview broadcast on Maghreb TV, saying that he was "absolutely furious" that his contribution has been censored, "in order to maliciously show only unpleasant images and provide a platform for well-known Islamophobes".

"Not a single positive image was chosen", added the mayor of Molenbeek, the town where a large part of the programme was filmed. "To present that [the fact that some women wear the veil in the town despite a long-established ban] as an image that shows the rise of Islamism is straightforward manipulation", he continued.

Molenbeek has some 94,000 inhabitants, of whom a large part are of North African origin. "It is a community who deserve the greatest respect. And just because there are some people whose behaviour we don't like that is no reason to condemn the whole community."

"Antisemitism once achieved success by these sort of methods. This is also how Goebbels tried to attack Jews, just as some people now attack Muslims," the senator-mayor declared. "I realise that I have only served as a foil to racists and Islamophobes", M. Moureaux concluded in the interview which was posted on YouTube on Thursday.
