BNP set for protest at Skegness abattoir

on Friday, March 1, 2013

A political party has announced it will be visiting Skegness to hold a protest and day of action against a Halal abattoir. The Lincolnshire Coastal Branch of the BNP will be at the Heath Road site on Saturday, March 16 from noon to voice its views and drum up support for the party.

Speaking about the protest, Robert Ashton, branch & group organiser, said: "We visited the abattoir back in January and we will be going on the Saturday [March 16] to hold a static protest. We will gather, say a few things and the BNP advertising truck will be going around the town."

The party say, the protest will form the second phase of its structured campaign and its 'Truth Truck' will be present on the day to portray the party's opposition to the ritual practice of Halal slaughter. "We've had positive feedback from our visit before and the protest is not designed to cause trouble, we are there for people to ask questions," added Robert.

As reported, the opening of the slaughter house, has roused mixed opinions in the town and a number of political parties, including Nick Griffin MEP, BNP leader, have spoken out against it.

Skegness Standard, 1 March 2013

We have previously noted this newspaper's readiness to give favourable publicity to the BNP's anti-halal campaign, despite it being a fascist organisation. Now we are informed that the paper is on first-name terms with the BNP's local organiser. You can only conclude that there is some editorial sympathy for far-right racists at the Skegness Standard.

BNP thanked for highlighting Skegness abattoir as trade pours in

on Friday, January 4, 2013

Management of a halal abattoir say they wish to thank a BNP leader for the attention brought by their party, as meat orders are on the up worldwide.

The slaughter house, based in Heath Road, Skegness, has roused mixed opinions among the community but business has improved thanks to details about its opening being posted on many websites across the internet.

Mr Patel, part management of Premier Halal Ltd, who did not wish to give his first name, said the site had been open about a month and it was trading, with local staff from the area employed.

"I want to thank Nick Griffin, the abattoir has been advertised on lots of meat websites and this has improved business. We have had meat orders from Poland and Germany," said Mr Patel.

He made the remarks after the British National Party announced plans for another day of action over the issue.

On Saturday, the far right National Front held a demonstration in Tower Gardens. They used a loud speaker to address around 50 people and a small leaflet drop on Grand Parade.

Tess Turner from Alford has set up online petitions and a Facebook page Say NO to Halal slaughter in Skegness. She said: "I am getting more 'likes' on Facebook for the campaign and there are petitions all over the place. I had nothing to do with the demonstrations by this political group but possibly the only good thing from it was that they did bring it to the attention of more people."

Meanwhile, the British National Party are also trying to exploit this issue for their own political gain.

The latter report notes that "East Lindsey District Council is keen to point out it has no role to play in the site's licensing". That hasn't prevented someone organising an online petition calling on the council to block the abattoir. At present it has over 900 signatures and this is a selection of the comments that have been added:

"How come foreigners can come to this country and kill animals inhumanly"

"anyone using religon to justify this torture should return to their own countries and carry out their practice away from us... that is not a racist comment... its FACT"

"in my opinion halal is a form of torture, evil cruel and barbaric, we are a civilized nation and that is the way we should stay!"

"This is a Christian Country and so anyone coming to live here should follow Christian Law."

"this is totally barbaric!!!!......hang them up and do the flippin same and see how they like it!!!!"

"Go back to your own country if you feel the need for Halal meat"

"we Non-Muslims don't need Meat that's been dedicated to ALLAH"

"there are laws in this country for us and they should abide by them they want halal meat go home"

"I'm sick of this country making allowances for other religions & minorities. Don't like it....Go back home"

National Front plan Skegness demonstration against halal abattoir

on Friday, August 31, 2012

A nationalist political organisation opposing multiculturalism and immigration has planned a demonstration against proposals for a halal abattoir in Skegness.

The National Front has invited its members to walk through the town distributing flyers and displaying banners opposing the Muslim practice of slaughter on Saturday, September 15.

Deputy chairman Kevin Bryan said: "We are against halal and kosher slaughterhouses full stop – it's alien to this country and we don't want to see it here. Islam is an alien religion to our shores and we don't think we should have them in this country."

The group insists it is not racist, claiming to oppose immigrants of all races, "to return this county to its genetic make-up of the 1940s."
