Main Issues of Israel and Palestine With role of US and UNO

on Tuesday, August 20, 2013

The conflict between Israel and Palestine has always grabbed the attention of the UN and many other organizations. Israel and Palestine differ a lot in many aspects including their outlook, which always gives rise to many problems among them. The Israeli government refused to accept the Palestinian state while Israel was not accepted by most of the Arabs.

Israelis are in favor of the US more likely while Palestinians are usually undivided in giving a statement that the US supports Israel in this chronical dispute. The Israelis have decided to construct 800 housing units in the areas of Occupied Palestine. This act shows Israeli’s skepticism and lack of commitment to peace.

THE ROLE OF US AND UNO IN ISRAELIS-PALESTINIANS DISPUTE:

According to a survey, America is the only country where Americans show maximum number of positive views about Israel, and they are highly in favor of them. After the end of World War II, the United States was one of the prominent nations which encouraged and settled the cease of fire between the Israelis and Palestinians. As Israel is viewed economically among the oil rich Middle Eastern countries, so it is provided with financial and military support. The support of US to Israel left a very devastating effect on the Palestinians. About 3000 Palestinians Children aging between 8-15 are suffering a lot in the region according to the following percentages:

  • 93% of those children were tear-gassed.
  • 85% of them had their home invaded.
  • 55% had witnessed their father beaten.
  • 42% had been beaten themselves.
  • 31% had been shot.
  • 69% had been exposed to more than 4 types of trauma.
  • 28% had their brother imprisoned.

These results shattered the whole Palestinian society. These innocent children definitely don’t deserve to be killed like this. But still the larger American society is in favor of Israel, and they have closed their eyes and turned deaf ears towards these situations.

The Palestinian people are hopeless regarding the help provided by the United Nations. But General Assembly played an active role in solving the conflict between the two countries. Despite all the weaknesses and flaws of the United Nations, it still offers the best chance to lead the conflicting parties in the direction of negotiated settlements.

Moreover, Palestinians and Israelis consider the UN to be biased and inefficient due to many reasons. A UN resolution was passed in the end of 2000 that the UN would look into these violations. This resolution criticized Israel so the US did not like it. The resolution did not support Israel that’s why its effectiveness was ended for the US interests.

It’s the time of calling peace to the frontage. It’s not possible that direct negotiations will work but any such negotiations must be revealed within an agenda with the demand for peace on the top of the list. This is a major conflict which can only be solved by active participation of the UN.

Palestine and Israel war

on Monday, December 3, 2012

A brief Overview:

The war between Palestine and Israel started back in the days of 20th century this whole conflict refers to the Arab and Zionist inhabitants living under British rule and Ottoman rule. It conflict consist mainly of the water controls, recognition, Palestinian independence movement, water rights, Israeli settlements, borders, and control of Jerusalem. Such disputes resulted in violence and international actions taken against the human rights and security. This restricts the tourism in the region which is of great religious and historical interest to the people around the world.

One of the reasons associated about the conflict rooted back in late 19th century and the start of 20th century; in the mean time Arab national movement came up gearing to attain power for the people living in the Middle East. The differences between the Palestinian nationalist as well as the southern Levant in 20s which later expanded in 1947 to Arab Israel wars.

Current Issue:

Current issues these days between the Israel and Palestine are:

  • Settlements
  • take hold of Arab land
  • Violence on Palestinian people
  • changing demographics
  •  Disregard UN resolutions

Israeli-Palestinian conflict is a growing disbelieve between its members. Strategies of political members joined with brutality done to the civilians against have promoted common aggression or lack of faith to make peace. Palestinian support for Hamas is considerable than of the Israeli people.

Role of UN:

The role of United Nation is considered as watch dog in this conflict. There are several Resolutions passed in the UN assembly against Israel but it seems that no one is going to take action against Israel. The UN is not doing justice to the Muslim world and issues of Muslim. Muslim countries considered it as a puppet handled by Americans and Jews.

Role of International Media:

The role of international media is biased till now in the Palestine-Israel war. Many European news papers have published news about the attack of Hamas in the city of Israel and they ignored that the Israel army has killed more than 150 people in one week.

Role of Muslim world:

There is no doubt that there is lack of unity among the Muslim countries. Several times OIC meetings has been called and several resolutions has been passed to support the Palestine but no implementation has been done till now. Reaction of Muslim world is great against the brutal attacks of Israel but when it comes to unity and leading from the front no country is ready to fight for Muslim brotherhood.

Israel’s Attack on Gaza and the History of Palestine

on Thursday, November 29, 2012

In December 1947, the British government announced that they would leave the region of Palestine in May of 1948. At that point, Palestinians conducted strikes to take control of their own country, but they were not listened to. Then, in April 1948, Zionists attacked the regions granted to Palestinian Arabs. Additionally, Muslims captured a few of the areas including Gaza, the West Bank, and the capital of East Jerusalem, which has very important religious places for Muslims, Christians and Jews including the Temple Mount, Al Aqsa Mosque and the Church of Holy Sepulcher. When the Zionist control forced out the Arabs from Palestine in great numbers, the Quartet countries and the Arab League tried to resolve that conflict but they did not succeed in their mission. Despite all of this, Israel attacked Palestinian regions again and captured East Jerusalem, which was very important for the Muslims due to its religious importance. After that, many conflicts occurred, such as the first and second Intifada and the Passover massacre – all of which were painful for both nations.

Israel attacked again and again on Palestinian regions but you will find only the records of Palestinian attacks on Israel. Besides this, Palestine is not recognized as a country by the United Nations nor by most of the countries in the world, which is very painful. In return, Arabs and most of the Muslim countries also do not recognize the state of Israel yet. They consider it to be a Palestinian area occupied by Israel.

The areas taken over by the Muslims are Gaza and the West Bank. Muslims wanted to free a least those areas from the Israeli government, but Israel settled many Jews in those areas to increase the population of the Jews there. Then, the Israeli president enacted the Gaza resettlement in which the Jews were moved out of the Gaza area. This step was heavily criticized by the Israeli people. And hence, a few authorities were given to the Palestine Liberation Organization who were captured by the Hamas group in Gaza and after that, the group achieved political success there. On the other hand, the West Bank is in a very miserable condition because of the blockages and the barrier in Israel. So Hamas and Israel have attacked each other and continue to take revenge on each other.

Recently, the chief of the Hamas group of Gaza was killed by Israeli forces and, in retaliation, Gaza attacked Israel. As a result, Israel attacked with technologically sophisticated missiles and broke international laws. Obama’s remark about this incidence was that “Everyone has right for its self defense.” However, he does not give Pakistan the right of self defense against the drone attacks on its innocent citizens.

This eight day war killed many innocent Muslims and Jews who wanted a peaceful resolution of this conflict. Israel had the support of the UK and USA governments, and the governments of varying European countries. But then they became discouraged from conducting the ground invasion in Gaza and hence the Israeli Prime Minister ordered a cease fire. This decision is disliked by most people and they named their Prime Minister “Bibi loser” because the army was ready to enter into Gaza. However, this was a good step taken by the Israel government.

The important point here is that most American people, including Jewish people, who are living in the US and other countries are against these violent attacks by the Israel government. One of the newspapers in the US, The Washington Post, mentioned these violent acts on their front page when Israel attacked Gaza. The Jewish community in the US is mostly against this Zionist approach to make Palestine an entirely Jewish country. They are running a number of websites to support their views.

The problem of the Israel-Palestine conflict should be resolved by considering the point of views of both nations. The region is important for both nations so the allies of Israel and corresponding information sources should not hide the facts to achieve their desired aims and benefits. This conflict could also cause a problem for other Muslim and non-Muslim countries. If the rights of a nation will be oppressed again and again and there will be no one who will consider them and help to solve their problems, the results will become even more adverse. The oppressed nation will attempt to gain their rights through force and power, and the international community will call that innocent nation “the terrorists.”
