The former military dictator and the President, General Pervez Musharraf, has come back to his home country Pakistan after tenure of more than four years on the 24th March, 2013. He declared that he arrived “to save Pakistan” from the disastrous situation it was going through, especially the terrorism prevailing in Karachi. He said that he loves Pakistan and is ready to take risks to rescue the country from extremist elements and terrorism related activities. He also said that after resigning as a  president, he continued to stay in the country for 8 months without proper safety arrangements. So, he wasn’t afraid of any danger and said that he would arrange for his safety by himself instead of becoming dependent on the government for security purposes.

The major reason of his return to Pakistan is the contestation of upcoming parliamentary elections for which he has to face several challenges at present. First, he decided to come back into the political competition once again despite the Taliban threats and fears. Again and again, he was threatened by terrorist groups and there were constant rumors that Taliban groups were preparing to attack him. Second, the lack of political popularity is another challenge in his way because since he had left the country for so long, therefore, he had disappeared from the political scene and many other political groups and leaders had become mass popular. He was quite an influential person when he was the acting military ruler in uniform, but unfortunately, his return is puzzling because he has lost his significance.

The downfall of his image can be realized by the very fact that the flight from Dubai to Karachi was planned as the first stage in Musharraf’s aim of recreating his image after years on the political scene. But the former popular military dictator was met by no more than almost a 1000 people at the airport, who were quite happy to receive him. This was a really small amount of individuals who supported him as compared to the previous image he used to acquire in Pakistan. This was a clear representation of how much his political support in the country had declined since 2008.

Currently, Musharraf is a polarizing power that could more complicate Pakistan’s effort to conduct parliamentary elections in May and allow the transition from one civilian government to the next for the first time in history. He is regarded as an adversary by numerous Islamic radicals and other extremists for his choice to support America in the “war on terror” as a reaction to the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. While on the other hand, the people who continue to support him including some members of the military and some political elements, claim that for the current traumatic situation of Pakistan, only he can provide the true security and a better hope for the people by helping to stabilize the country and free it from terrorist elements.

Hence, Pakistan has entered a new phase of turning politics with the return of Musharraf, and the upcoming elections will be quite complicated and problematical because of the emergence of so many diverse voices at the same time.

Pakistani Children are facing a new dilemma in regards to their educational life. Even the children in the rudimentary class of the nursery are not free from the cumbersome experience of having to deal with this predicament. That being said, the dilemma in question is the one related to the extravagant and excessive loading of the school bags worn by these unfortunate children. The weight itself is appalling and astonishingly dense. It makes one wonder as to how these fragile children can keep upright with this entire burden, not to mention the ordeal and the strain that this load placed on their backs.

The list of books and other such relative accoutrements for a child in any phase of his educational life is long and tedious dense.

If one pays close consideration and attention, then two aspects can be noticed while procuring items for a child’s school. One needs to establish and set up a certain approach to ensure the timely dropping off and picking up of the child from the school. It is a probability that the parent would have to perform the said tasks by his own self. There, he may notice that the weight of the school bag being worn by his child as well as the other children far exceeds their own weight. Many children would be bending backwards to balance and balance this load. This surely makes one ponder the question of this being a monumental penalty or not.

At present, there is no consideration or assessment being spared by any authority on this most inhumane and callous of acts towards children. There is a strong possibility that these overloaded children will suffer from complications and severe deformities of the vertebrae and health, if the problem mentioned herewith is left unchecked.

The children are not yet brawny enough to bear this heavy weight. It should be noted that these young children of mere two and a half to three years of age have to go through about 12 books and copies on a daily basis. Is this justice upon the poor little darlings?

Another fact that directly violates consumer rights is the designation of particular and specific bookshops and uniform outlets by the schools. The books published are priced extravagantly by the publishers, and the customer is not even provided the liberty to purchase these books from the local market. They have to be procured from certain designated outlets and bookstores. This needs to be done frequently as well because many of these books are not made available for purchase upon a single visit to these bookstores.

The notion of Play groups may have been incorporated in order to provide parents with some peace of mind and relief from tension. However, lately these ventures have become notable for imposing unjust expenditures and excessive burden on children.

On a more optimistic and brighter note, these centers give homework to children which inculcates and nurtures a sense of learning, for both the children and the supervising parents, as well.

In conclusion, these are matters that require the utmost minute and highly prioritized attention as soon as possible.

As the earthquake was felt by the Pakistani nation two days ago that was told to be a kind of earthquake that could be quite devastating. The nation felt the jolt before in 2004 which was turned to be that kind of earthquake that Pakistan will never forget. Reports are coming from PPAF (Pakistan Poverty Alleviation fund) disaster management team that 45 districts of Pakistan may be hit by an earthquake.

There is a lot of NGO’s that are working on the rehabilitation procedures that should be adopted during the situation when you are hit by an earthquake. It was suggested by the TRDP team that the rescue operation will be more effectively done if the number of team members in a group are less in number. This would definitely help them. In a simulation, two of the people were rescued quite safely by the rescue team from a flooded region. Team leader Nisar added that it would be very important to know the orientation of the place along with the number of people and their financial position. That will definitely help in the rehabilitation process for us to rebuild. Dr Veeram a member of BRDS also said that it is important that all stakeholders should have the responsibilities so that the work could be effectively done with the least amount of the time consumed. He also added that services could take 36 hours to reach the victims after the disasters hits.

It is obvious that the disaster management team would take some time to reach the place where a disaster hits, but this work could be effectively done if the number of stakeholders plays their part so as to share the responsibilities. The ultimate beneficiary would be the people who have suffered. They should be provided with the tents, food and medicines.

SAFWCO team member while giving the views added that normally what happens in the flooded area, we try to rescue the people out of the area. He also added the rehabilitation also means that the particular area should be de-watered immediately so that it would be easier for the rehabilitation team and the rehabilitation process to have immediate effects. The rehabilitation process is the kind of process in which you don’t only need to have resource, it also requires having some time to give the results. People should be given awareness about the situations that can be disastrous. The infrastructure has to be rebuilt in order to have the routine back to the normal life.

On Tuesday, Peter Maurer, the Red Cross chief condemned US drone strikes outside areas officially engulfed in armed conflict. He warned against a creeping expansion of the definition of what constitutes a battlefield. Since in the context of an armed conflict, drones are legitimate, Maurer said that Washington’s controversial and secretive use of drones was, in itself, not a problem.

Peter Maurer was quoted as saying to reporters in Geneva that the problem arises if a drone is used in a country where there is no armed conflict. Maurer said, “A drone used in Afghanistan or Yemen is a drone used within the context of an armed conflict, and thereby used legitimately.”

Moving to Pakistan, he believes the drone attacks are “particularly problematic”

Maurer on his return from a trip to the United States, where he met with President Barrack Obama, told AFP that “the US is very aware of where we disagree with the use of drones” He said that a widening interpretation of what constitutes a battlefield is the main problem with drone strikes today.

He said that, ”To link the definition of battlefields to combatants on the move is an interpretation that we don’t share.”

The US has been criticized by rights advocates and Lawmakers for its strikes against suspected al Qaeda militants in Pakistan, Yemen, and elsewhere. The US officials, however, refuse to discuss any details of the covert campaign in public.

Maurer says that he had also used his trip to urge Washington to swiftly address the problem of Guantanamo. Since February, dozens of prisoners in Guantanamo have been staging a hunger strike.

In 2009, Obama moved to close the controversial US detention facility, however, plans to try suspects in the US civilian courts were thwarted by congress. This move left many inmates in limbo.

“Lack of perspective in terms of transfer is at the origin of the big malaise that has been transformed into a hunger strike,” Maurer said.

The Red Cross visits the Guantanamo detainees on a regular basis; however, its reports on the prison’s conditions remain private to the US government and very hidden from the public.

By the time she was ousted from the office, she had brought Britain out of a proximate collapse of the economic sort to a stage of the prosperous market economy.

Many among our leaders could have made such decisions that would have displeased us in the short run or initially. However, they would have been beneficial in the long run, but these politicians didn’t so as their love of authority and power hold them back from doing so.

2) More Authority of the People and Less Emphasis on the Government:

In Margaret Thatcher’s time, she laid more emphasis on the basic needs and amenities of life in regards to her people by lowering the scope of civil services. She also made the citizens shareholders in policies and also established strict and clear cut objectives for government agencies to accomplish within a given and specified time frame.

Here in our Government, there is no regulative check or balance of the funds being utilized for public services and the number of cabinet members and ministers is escalated without bars.

3) Abandon Our National Illusions and Misconceptions;

Instead of clinging to the scintillating and glorious memories of a long dwindled empire, Margaret Thatcher introduced impressive and efficiently effective new reforms that swept Britain into the new and improved era of today, far from the sorrow and shambles induced state that it was initially.

Here in Pakistan, we consider the rest of the world to harbor adversarial and detrimental interests toward Pakistan. We see the world as a conniving serpent, intent on destroying our country and this delusion has severely obstructed and hampered the country’s progress and evolution. If Pakistan is to succeed, then it is of absolute necessity that such delusions be eliminated from the context altogether and entirely.

7.8 magnitudes of Rickter scale, a major earthquake struck mainly Iran near the Iran- Pakistan border which killed people from Pakistan, but no damage took place in Iran. The earthquake almost hit all parts of Pakistan including Belochistan Lahore, Karachi, Jacobabad, Quetts, Larkana etc, also in New Delhi of India and part of Gulf Area.

Earthquakes also felt in Gadani, Hamai, Chaman, Gwadar of Belochistan, where according to Met office and other geological source intensity was 5.4 to 6.5 in Rickter scale. From a statement of a local government service holder, information got that about 34 people died, and nearly 80 people are injured in the Mashkeel area. Dead bodies are kept in the hospital and treatment is being given accordingly to the wounded people. Saving the life of endangered people is also on the go by paramilitary forces.

According to the information from the United State Geological Survey, this disaster hit 15.2km deep and at the time of 10:44 GMT. The epicenter of this quake was in a deserted and mountain area, 250 km northwest corner of Turbat in Pakistan and from the city Zahedan, Iran; it is 198 km southeast.

Along with the loss of lives in Panjgur and Mashkeel, more than 1000 homes are partly damaged, and 50 people escaped from injuries from a roof collapse in Karachi. In Multan and DI Khan, the vibration sustained for 10 seconds. Panicked people from every locations mainly commercial areas like Shahra-e-Faisal ran out and evacuated from the buildings and took place on roads. All of them were very much afraid of the tremor and refused to enter into the building for a longer period of time. A witness from Karachi was quoted “my desk started trembling, and we ran out of the building. Since then we are outside our office”. From the report of Express News, we have come to know that, the quake also made Rahim Yar Khan, Faisalabad, Shahdadkot and Serai Desert trembling.

“Two of my colleagues fainted during the tremor but successfully we could evacuate through our emergency exit,” a working man shared his experience of the earthquake.

After this sudden blow of the huge earthquake, all the flights in airports were halted for a certain period of time. Then later on, the shock has been absorbed and airport authority declared to return back the schedule of the flight take off.

On 9th April, Tuesday, a major 6.3 magnitude quake hit Iran near to its nuclear power station in which 37 people killed and about 850 injured leaving 2 villages completely ruined. Not even a week passed, for the second time, 16th April on another Tuesday more powerful one stroke.

An officer named Hatam Narouyi from Iran stated this earthquake as the most powerful one in last 40 years, and it is supposed to take more than hundreds life. No damage has yet been reported even in the Saravan city of Iran which is the nearest to the epicenter has not experienced any damage!

Iran is situated over large geological faultilines and experienced many major and dangerous earthquakes before. These two time’s tremors in such a short period can be taken as an ultimatum to the Iranian government to get ready for any nuclear emergency.

Muslims are spread everywhere around the world. They all practice Islam, but the difference is that some live in Islamic countries while some live as minorities in non-Muslim countries. Talking about Europe and specially UK, there are Muslims present in a huge amount, but the country is not a Muslim country. On the other hand, Pakistan is a Muslim country, and you are going to find a Muslim majority, wherever you go.

Talking about the conditions of Muslims in Pakistan, we can see that they are free to practice their religion. Since Pakistan is a Muslim country, there is simply no issue in following Islam, as Islam is the state religion. Muslim women can wear hijab and Muslim men can keep beards. They face no opposition. They can go to mosques without any obstacles. In fact, Muslim children if they go to schools or go for work; they have Muslim friends and colleagues. Rarely does it occur that they have Hindu, Christian, or Jewish friends. Wherever you go, you will find mainly Muslims.

On the contrary, London or UK is not a Muslim country. However, there is a large Muslim population living in London. As far as practicing Islam in London is concerned, you will find people with mixed views. There would be some who would say that there is simply no difficulty in practicing Islam in London. On the other hand, other people would be of different views. There are some who say that they live with non Muslims. They have Jewish or Christian friends but that does not matter. The friends drink alcohol but they do not. So simply there is no problem. They say that they have to face no problems being Muslims. As far as practicing Islam is concerned, they say that there is religious freedom. Muslim women have simply no objection in wearing hijab. It is a matter of personal choice.

On the other hand, some people are going to say that the new generation in London is going different. They are influenced by their non-Muslim friends and do not pay much importance to prayers, to fasting and other Islamic obligations. Islam is not just about believe. It also involves practice, and usually parents complain that by living in the UK, they are unable to control their children and raise them according to Islam.

Overall, London is a place that allows the freedom of religion. Though the Muslims living there cannot find living in London is as easy as living in Pakistan, because of the lacking of some occasions. For instance, talking about the festival of Eid, whether it is Eid-ul-Azha or Eid-ul-Fitr, they say that if they had spent these festivals in Muslim country it would have been more enjoyable, as everybody around would be a part of it. Those Pakistani families who have moved to UK also say that there is not a problem practicing Islam in the UK, except for the fact that they miss their families.

Pakistan rejected US pressure over its gas pipeline project with Iran as today the President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, inaugurated the much delayed construction of pipeline on Pakistani side. The inauguration ceremony took place in the border area of Iran as Mr. Zardari flew, with a big delegation, to inaugurate the project with his Iranian counterpart.

The United Sates issued warnings to Pakistan to cancel this natural gas deal. Iran is under sanctions by the United Nations and US for its atomic program. US urged Pakistan to refrain from making any deals with Iran or else Pakistan would also have to face the music by coming under sanctions.

Iran has already constructed the pipeline over its side, whereas Pakistan was delaying the project because of immense pressure from the United States. As elections are approaching and Pakistan is still no way near to the resolution of its energy and power crisis, ruling party has taken this bold step to gain some momentum in the coming campaigns. India was also part of this deal that initiated in 1990, but she quit in 2009 mentioning cost and security issues but behind the scenes important thing was the US pressure. Washington signed a nuclear deal with India to compel her to come out of this deal. Pakistan has also been asking the US for a peaceful nuclear deal in order to overcome the power crisis. Amid of the continuous refusals from the US, Pakistan has finally embarked on this bold deal with the Iran.

Speaking on the occasion, Iranian President without mentioning US said that foreign players would not be allowed to affect Iran-Pakistan relationships. He further added that this deal would not assist Iran in any way over its nuclear program. Pakistani President stressed the importance of the pipeline for Pakistan by saying that Pakistan was in dire need of this project in order to overcome the power shortages. He went on saying that their friends in Washington would understand that you couldnot change your neighbors.

Pakistan’s stock market showed a negative trend to this deal as it closed down lower because of the threat of sanctions from the United States. Fear of the sanctions prevailed in the market.

The United States again showed serious concerns over this inauguration. When asked about the possible sanctions in a briefing, spokeswoman of US State Department Victoria Nuland said that if Pakistan went further over this deal with Iran, it may trigger severe sanctions. She bluntly refused to rule out the concerns that forced Pakistani Stock Market to close down. United States may cut its billions of dollars of aid to Pakistan if Pakistan continues this project.

Many circles in Pakistan claim that if US is not happy with this deal then it must assist Pakistan with its energy crisis in some other ways. Political pundits and analysts were of the view that if US has refused to make a peaceful nuclear deal with Pakistan that will reduce the power shortage, then it has no right to stop Pakistan from moving to other alternatives.

In Tourism competitive news, Pakistan has moved up three ranking points from 125 in 2011 to 122 in 2013, this is according to the World Economic Forum’s Travel & Tourism Competitive Index 2013 report. It landed between Cameroon at 121 and Bangladesh at 123 in the overall world ranking, neighboring India on the other hand ranked 65 on the competitive table.

The Travel and Tourism Competitive Report which was first published in 2007 by the World Economic Forum ranks selected nations according to the Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index which scores one to six the performance of a given country in each specific sub index. The index is a measurement of factors that make a country attractive to develop business in the travel and tourism industry rather than a measure of its attractiveness as a tourist destination. The three main sub indexes are one, regulatory framework, two, business environment and infrastructure and three, human, cultural and natural resources.

Pakistan was at 24 in the regional Asia Pacific rankings, between Tajikistan at 23 and Bangladesh at 25. According to the sub indexes, Pakistan ranked 131 on the travel and tourism regulatory framework, 116 on the human, cultural and natural resources and 104 on the business environment and infrastructure.

Pakistan according to the report showed improvements in the area of human resources, while the indices on education and training improved to the rank of 125 in 2013 as compared to the 134 rank in 2011.Availability of qualified labor also showed an improvement with a rise to rank 79 in 2013 as compared to the rank of 100 in 2011.This is an indication of a return of skilled labor from the middle east and other countries.

Pakistan however showed a decline and gave poor performance in the area of policy rules and regulations, therefore making a drop from the rank of 106 in 2011 to the rank of 120 in 2013; it also fell in the prioritizing of travel and tourism scoring a rank of 131 in 2013 as compared to the 121 rank in 2011

Switzerland came first while Haiti finished last on the list out of all the economies on the Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index.

Pakistan’s controversial blasphemy laws were not allowed to do their job on Friday, when a violent mob in Lahore set ablaze the entire neighborhood of an accused blasphemer. Over a hundred homes in the Christian neighborhood were torched by thousands of men who claimed that a resident of the area had committed blasphemy. The mob took the law into its own hands, brutally burning Christian houses to the ground with no regards to whether there were people inside. All residents managed to escape the area uninjured, but many wished their lives had not been spared when they returned to the sight of their homes and possessions completely destroyed.

This was not the first instance when a mob has targeted a member of a minority community because of alleged violation of blasphemy laws in Pakistan. Not too long ago, 14-year old down syndrome patient Rimsha Masih was forcefully arrested by a mob led by a cleric who had planted fake evidence against her. After Pakistanis protested against the inhumane action by the religious cleric, he was arrested for planting fake evidence, and the nation is still eagerly awaiting his trial and conviction.

Although such acts of vigilante justice may suggest the Pakistani people are inherently violent towards minority communities, as somebody who has observed reactions to such incidents from the ground, I can safely say that people here abhor the innocent killing of people, regardless of their religious beliefs. The blasphemy laws still have support in Pakistan because people here hold religion very dear to them, but most people strongly believe that the misuse of blasphemy laws, or taking the blasphemy laws into one’s own hands, is not what Islam teaches us. Many people cite the example of how the people of Ta’if threw stones at Prophet Muhammad when he attempted to preach Islam to them, Allah offered him to crush that civilization between two mountains. Prophet Muhammad , instead, chose to pray for them to come to the right path. They argue that Islam orders Muslims to live life in accordance with that of Muhammad, and reacting violently to criticism is not what he taught us.

Criticism of the blasphemy laws in Pakistan have been considerably muted ever since two of the most vocal critics of these inhumane laws, Punjab Governor Salman Taseer and Federal Minister for Minority Rights Shahbaz Bhatti were assassinated in 2011 and 2012 respectively. Although few political leaders were brave enough to condemn this brutal act of barbarianism, most Pakistanis were united against the attacks. A large number of people gathered in Badami Bagh and distributed food and clothing to now-homeless Christians. A number of protests have been planned all over Pakistan, not to condemn the man accused of blasphemy, but to demand the arrest and prosecution of all members of the mob.

Energy is a basic necessity much like food and water. Countries are dependent on those resources for economic growth. Unfortunately Pakistan faces a major energy crisis in natural gas, power and oil. Power surges and blackouts seem to continue as usual and this has been going on for 5 years now. Power outages usually last 10 –12 hours a day in the cities and more in the rural areas. This has left the industries of Pakistan (mainly agricultural, secondary and tertiary sectors) stunned and so they are unable to fully operate. This has a very negative impact on the economy of the country. Many debates were held to solve this problem, but no actions have been taken to realize their ideas.

The demand of energy in Pakistan is huge, and can’t be fulfilled by electricity production based on oil. It can only meet 20% of our requirement through native production and the remaining oil is imported from Gulf States and other countries. No major oil, field has been discovered in last three decades. It is clear that other alternative production methods must be considered to meet the demand. Most likely one that is cheap, considering initial setup cost, and costs attached.

The second method of production we use is thermal (i-e using coal to produce electricity). Pakistan has been blessed with wealthy mineral resources, but the sad part is that we are too ignorant to explore them. We are sitting on gold mines and yet we do nothing about it. Balochistan, for instance, is rich with all sorts of minerals and could be exploited heavily. If we could solve the feudal problems of the provinces, and let the national and international companies explore the area, we might solve our fuel problems too. But this is a precious non-renewable resource, so we need better options.

Other major option is hydro-electric power generation. This is the cheapest and most feasible way of producing electricity for our country. Two major energy dams in Pakistan are Tarbela and Mangla. If only the proposed Kalabagh dam would be constructed, 80% of our energy needs would be fulfilled. Best option is to construct this dam, and take advantage of the natural hydrography of Pakistan in maximum possible extent.

Wind power and solar power generation are good alternatives as well. Their initial costs are low when compared to other methods, and are definitely in the best interests of our country. Furthermore, we have to control political instability that plagues our nation, and poses a barrier for the implementation of proposed solutions to the energy crisis in Pakistan.

Cricket was once known as the game of the gentlemen but with the passage of time it became a game of entertainment. IPL (Indian Premier League) has played a major role in tarnishing the role of cricket because since the start of IPL cricket has become a game of money and limelight. Now everyone tries his best to come under the limelight because it is something which brings you money and fame from across the world. However, IPL has not only tarnished the image of cricket by making player money greedy but it has also dented a pretty good image of this game since many match fixing issues have appeared on the scenes.

Looking at the popularity of the IPL, Bangladesh Cricket board has come up with its very own cricket league BPL (Bangladesh Premier League). Though it is not as popular as IPL but still it has the charm to attract the cricket lovers. Lately, Sri Lanka also organized a cricket league which according to most of the people was a huge fail and according to some reports players have not received the complete league fees yet.

One thing has to be mention here that it was Pakistan who firstly came up with the idea of such leagues but due to some problems Pakistan could not organize a cricket league. And then came IPL, Pakistan players participated in the very first addition of IPL and outshone the players from rest of the world. The relationship of the two neighbors Pakistan and India got tensed and Pakistani players were snubbed and were not included in the other seasons of IPL.

However, the Pakistan Cricket Board did not lose the hope and kept the hard work going on and finally then have come up with Pakistan Super League. The Pakistan Cricket Board unveiled the PSL on Thursday with the hope of making a new history in the cricket world by starting “a league of standard” unlike many others. This league was launched on Thursday in Lahore where the captains of Pakistan men and women teams along with other board official were present. This league will kick start from the 23^rd March with an opening ceremony followed by the matches.

The pattern of this league is quite similar to top notch football leagues where each team will be playing with another team twice in the tournament. According to the Chairman of Cricket board, only five teams will be the part of the first three editions of PSL. Each team will be based on five local players and six International players. This will prove to be a great learning experience for the local youngsters as they will be playing in the midst of the top International players.

“Today is a very important day for Pakistan cricket,” Lorgat, who was present at the ceremony, said. “PSL will help revive international cricket in Pakistan.” To be honest it would too early to say something about this league. So, we should wait for the 23^rd March because it is when this league will start.

There are so many problems people are facing in Pakistan. The major problems are inflation, power shortages, water shortages, and even pollution. It seems like things are getting worse and worse day by day. There have been so many complaints about these issues, but it seems like the government is not really doing anything to resolve them. These dilemmas have led to people of Pakistan believing that their taxes are going nowhere. There are no strict actions that are being taken in order to resolve these issues and people of this country have to suffer every single day. We interviewed many people and we got responses that were mostly like this, “We are tired of living in this country because it seems like it is never going to change. People call Pakistan a developing country, but we feel that it is going to develop for another 50 years. It is so hard to live in a country where prices are skyrocketing, there are power shortages for hours every single day, and the pollution here really makes us sick.” These interviews were quite eye opening and people told us about the things that they had to do in order to get through the day. This is a poor country, but advancements can be made if the government is just given a little push. Students in college and universities also had a lot to say about the problems that Pakistan is facing. Most of them were reluctant about this country and said, “We are trying to obtain a good education so that we can move to a country that will provide us with a better future. There are power shortages everyday and we have to use our generator, UPS, and sometimes even a candle to study. Times have become so difficult and the rising inflation rate leaves us with no money to save.” The wealthy people can live in Pakistan without many issues because they have the means of getting by. However, one must remember that the majority that lives in this country is from a working class or a middle class background. There are so many expenses that one has to take care of and on top of that new problems are arising which make it even harder to survive in such as country. So, we can conclude that problems are not being solved and things are just becoming worse. The poor people are suffering every single day because they do not have the means to afford all the luxury items that are sold in this country. The people of Pakistan need to take a stand in order to resolve these problems or things will just get worse. The government will get used to hoarding the money that it gets and will make it a habit. The conditions will just worsen. People of Pakistan need to take collective action to make a change so that this country can prosper!

Facebook is a top social networking site that is used all over the world. This website allows people to get in touch with friends and family members near or far, and people are addicted to using it. However, parents in Pakistan believe that this website has a negative impact on the youth.

The negative impact of Facebook is that it is distracting students from their school work. It is something that kids can spend hours and hours on. Facebook allows kids to play games, chat with their friends, and like their favorite pages. This addiction is the problem that is the concern of many Pakistani people. Pakistan has a very competitive environment. Students here compete to get into top colleges, universities, and to get the top jobs. In order to get these things you must have good results from your exams, and you must have some extracurricular activities. Facebooking does not count as an extracurricular activity. Kids have to strive and they work their bottoms off day and night, so that they can get to where they need to go. There are not equal opportunities for every student, so the children in this country have to push their studies to the limit. The more knowledge they have, the higher they will be able to score on their exams.

Parents are concerned because Facebook is distracting kids from what is really important.

Shenila, the mother of two sons who often use facebook says, “They are not paying any attention to school because they find Facebook entertaining. Facebook cannot help them earn big bucks. Not only are they neglecting their school work, but they do not listen to a word I say. I told both of my kids to turn off the laptop and offer their daily prayers. Both of them acted as if they had not heard me. This Facebook is ruining my children. Neglecting school work is one thing, but not offering prayers or respecting my authority is something serious!”

Facebook is affecting Shenila’s sons negatively; however, not everything is bad about this social network. Students can learn about Islam on Facebook, they can get help from friends on homework and so much more. This website should not be taken in a negative sense because networking and getting in touch with people is also very important for survival. However, if parents in Pakistan are having serious problems, then there is always the option of setting strict limits or blocking Facebook for good. These strict measures may not seem fair to your child now, but they will soon learn that the competitive environment in this country does not give opportunities to time wasters.

Sad news has come from Pakistan’s biggest city as three polio vaccination workers have been shot dead. Looking back in history, we can clearly see the reasons behind this brutal act. In 2004, the government of Pakistan announced that there were only 30 cases of polio registered in the country, which is as low as in most developed countries. Since then, some groups in Pakistan have voiced that they don’t want polio vaccinations given to children, to prevent further risk of the disease. Since 2004, the ratio of polio patients is on the rise again.

It was unknown who committed this act, but the reason is clear that someone is not ready to make peace in the country. It has been said that the Taliban is against this vaccination, and they have gone publicly several times against the vaccination of polio in the tribal areas. This incident happened in Karachi where the law and order situation is worse than many other areas. Some analysts considered it as a target killing, but why would the health volunteers be targeted? Even in wars, the armed troops do not harm the Red Cross workers and let them work freely.

According to the people living in the city, they feel that the main reason of these target killings is to divert the attention of media from the hot issues of the country. The ruling party of the Karachi (MQM) is involved in target killing and the Supreme Court of Pakistan has asked the chairman of the party to appear in front of court. Some people do believe that this kind of target killing is meant to postpone the election in the country. The UN and World Health Organization (WHO) has stopped their workers with immediate effect to work on a polio campaign all over Pakistan. The chairman of the World Health Organization declares it unacceptable and unethical.

According to the polio workers in country, there have been many threats to them, such as people calling and asking them to stop the polio before they suffer the consequences. Now, four workers have been killed and there is a fear among the polio workers about their safety. They asked the government to provide them security if they want to continue the campaign in the country. There have been protests and rallies in the country in favor of the workers who have been killed by the unknown gunman.

The government of Pakistan has announced the package for the injured and dead workers. The families of the workers who died in the attack will receive five lac rupees, and the government will offer jobs to the family as well. Now there is strong need of motivation and encouragement or else Pakistani kids will have to fight against polio.

Quelques mois après que la vidéo anti-islamique ait été postée sur YouTube et même après les manifestations des Musulmans dans le monde entier, YouTube n’a pas enlevé les vidéos. Les musulmans ont fait des requêtes spéciales comme leurs sentiments étaient sérieusement blessés. Bien que la vidéo “l’innocence des Musulmans” ait contrevenu aux conditions générales de YouTube, il n’a tout de même pas été enlevé pour quelques raisons. Donc, l’Autorité de Télécommunication du Pakistan (PTA) est entrée en action et a bloqué YouTube au Pakistan. L’accès était complètement bloqué au Pakistan et le message “Ce site est limité par votre prestataire de services” a été affiché.

Bien que les gens ont apprécié cette mesure prise par le gouvernement, il a été découvert qu’il y avait des personnes qui utilisent des techniques de blackhat pour avoir l’accès. La méthode la plus commune était l’utilisation d’une protection Firewall. A part cela, certains utilisent des proxy pour avoir accès à Youtube depuis le Pakistan. Quoique ce soit un pas positif pris par le gouvernement, il avait créé des problèmes pour les gens qui ont eu l’habitude d’avoir accès à YouTube pour un certain but constructif en dehors du divertissement.

Il y a eu plusieurs rumeurs sur la disponibilité de Youtube au Pakistan. Il a été constaté que certaines personnes ont toujours accès à Youtube en utilisant la connexion internet de compagnies privées bien que la PTA ait ordonné à tous les fournisseurs d’accès de bloquer complètement Youtube. Ainsi, selon les ordres de la PTA, même les compagnies privées ont bloqué l’accès à Youtube.

Cependant, quelques personnes ont prétendu qu’YouTube sera de retour le 1 décembre 2012. Donc, les gens attendaient avec inquiétude pour le 1 décembre 2012 quand ils pourraient finalement goûter à YouTube de nouveau. Néanmoins, l’Autorité de Télécommunication du Pakistan a répondu en disant que ceux-ci sont juste des rumeurs et ne sont pas fondés. En réalité ils ont raison sur ceci car les autorités de YouTube n’ont pas encore rempli les exigences du Pakistan.

Selon les officiels, le site de partage de vidéo le plus célèbre au monde a manqué de remplir les exigences et les demandes du gouvernement du Pakistan. Ils n’ont toujours pas enlevé le contenu diffamatoire du site Web qui est la cause principale du problème. La vidéo publiée sur YouTube choque les sentiments du peuple du Pakistan, alors là ils ne permettront pas à YouTube de continuer ses services.

Même le Ministère de Télécommunication a dit que YouTube n’a pas encore été débloqué et ils n’en ont pas l’intention jusque là et à moins que Youtube ne satisfasse les demandes du gouvernement du Pakistan. Cependant, le mois de novembre YouTube est devenu accessible aux trois premiers opérateurs mobiles du Pakistan. Ceci est toujours prise en considération et il y a des chances que le gouvernement pourrait même bloquer l’accès pour ces opérateurs mobiles aussi. Nous devons juste attendre et observer.

Ceci est une bonne étape prise par le gouvernement. Beaucoup ont dû prendre leurs positions et cette fois c’est au tour du gouvernement du Pakistan. A few months back when anti-Islamic video was posted on YouTube and even after the protests from the Muslims of all over the world, YouTube did not remove the videos. Muslims made special requests as their feelings were badly hurt. Though the video “The innocence of Muslims” breached the terms and conditions of YouTube but still it was not removed for some reasons. Therefore, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) came into action and blocked the YouTube in Pakistan. The access was completely blocked in Pakistan and the message “This site is restricted by your service provider” was displayed.

Though people appreciated the step taken by the government but still there were people who used black hat techniques to gain the access. The most common method was the use of a Hot Spot shield. Apart from this some used proxy to access YouTube here in Pakistan. Though it was a good positive step taken by the government but it had created problems for the people who used to access YouTube for some constructive purpose apart from entertainment.

There were various rumors regarding the availability of the YouTube in Pakistan. It was found that some people had an access to YouTube using the Internet connection of private companies therefore PTA ordered every Internet providing companies to block YouTube completely. Hence, following the orders of PTA even the private companies blocked an access to YouTube.

However, some people claimed that YouTube will be back on December 1, 2012. Therefore, people were anxiously waiting for December 1, 2012 when they could finally taste the YouTube once again. Nonetheless, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority replied back saying that these are just rumors and hold no ground. Actually they are right on this as the authorities of the YouTube have not met the requirements of Pakistan yet.

According to the official, the world’s most famous video sharing website has failed to meet the requirements and demands of the government of Pakistan. They have still not removed the inappropriate content from the website which is the main cause of the issue. The video published on the YouTube is hurting the feelings of the people Pakistan hence they won’t allow YouTube to continue its services.

Even the Telecommunication Ministry has said that the YouTube has not unblocked yet and they do not have any plans until and unless they meet the demands of the Pakistan government. However, in the month of November YouTube became accessible to the three top mobile operators of Pakistan. This is still in consideration and there are chances that the government might even block the access for those mobile operators as well. We just have to wait and watch.

In the nutshell, it is a good step taken by the government. Some had to take the stand and this time it is the government of Pakistan. Being a Pakistani I am proud to that finally my government has taken a step for some good cause. Stick with me and I shall bring some new interesting news regarding YouTube.

Today, Pakistan is considered as a terror explorer, corruption leader, rights-snatcher and peace grabber. People in the current era only watch, analyze and sense the words and depiction; which position and dwell in their minds by the beneficiaries, but they do not try to find the true-history behind the situation.We should know the hidden facts behind why Pakistan has attained these variations of status for the last 65 years. In the beginning of this, Sweet-Home (Pakistan) in 1947; all things were going in the right direction of courage, passion, determination and talent. Then suddenly, some cruel, selfish and narrow eyed forces started their conspiracies against this ‘Heaven’. Now, terrorists are Pakistani, liars are Pakistani, deceivers are Pakistani, from all sides Pakistan indulges in the hurricane, where all are agitators, reformers and Angels but only Pakistani is a pioneer of evils. Pakistan was a name of valor in the past. Pakistan was a name of success. Pakistan was a name of talent. Pakistan was a name of faith, but now its reputation and fame are wrapped up and heaved into the trash bin. Many people cater different reasons behind the problems faced by Pakistan; some say education, food, poverty and shelter are the major issues but according to my perception and observation, these are the needs not the issues. Actually these are the issues Pakistan is facing today:

v Disruption (over interruption by the external forces)

v Criticism by the world

v Killing in the name of terrorism

v Economy disaster

v Lack of successive opportunities for anormal person

v Incapable head of state(rulers)

External forces always try to interrupt in Pakistan’s internal issues to glow their politics. Pakistan is the only Muslim country who is facing a massive criticism from all over the world, now the situation is; if an accident occurred in one corner of this patch of the world, investigators start their investigation from Pakistan. This criticism effects Pakistanis not only inside the country, but those who live in other countries also victimize. Many innocent people are also killed in drone attacks and many homes have been destroyed in this fight. These acts provoke terror in Pakistan and increase the flame of revenge in a man who has lost his status and family in these attacks. Strong investors does not want to invest money and time in Pakistan because they cannot generate an attractive revenue due to the current situation, electricity problems, terrorism and corruption. The younger generation does not pay serious attention to education, because they set their minds according to the current situation.  Pakistan has talent and creative minds; they just need a chance and positive spark to excel in the world.
