Chuck Hagle ensure that US army will attack Iran Nuclear program when required

on Sunday, March 31, 2013

Mr. Chuck Hagel, the US defence secretary said that he ensured that the US army is ready to attack the Iranian nuclear program whenever they feel it’s time to attack.  He further said that he totally agreed with what Mr. President said about Iran’s nuclear program. He said that the United States holds an option to take steps to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear power. This statement is given by Hegel after a question raised by a senator armed service committee.

Mr. Hagel further said that Iran must take this matter seriously and there are still chances to hold diplomatic talks but the pressure is on so there are considering closing this window. This statement is strongly opposed by the opposition when Mr.Hagel faces the republican. They questioned him about the policy he states about the Iranian nuclear program and for the economic sanction imposed on Iran as they did in the Iraqi war. He also made a remark about the Jewish lobby impact in Washington. Senator John Cornyn who is opposing Mr.Hagel said that the nominee was rejected in previous positions on this kind of issues in the political strategy to win affirmation.

Confirmation conversion:

This rapid and suitable alteration beggar’s idea, Cornyn addressed in a dialogue on the Senate. “He just desires to win support from the members of this chamber, what we can call it as a confirmation conversion.

Some of the answers that Mr.Hagel has given to the committee shows the same policy of the pentagon and the white house on Afghan and war on Iraq. It includes the budget reduction, some issues among personnel and weapon program. Mr. Hagel told the press in the past that the pentagon budget wss over drafted. He further had written that these budget cuts might lead to a devastating impact on the position of Mr. Panetta across the board. Meanwhile Mr. Obama has agreed to cut the federal budget deficit and also cut down the defense budget by $45 billion.

“It would damage armed forces readiness and interrupt each and every venture” said Mr. Hagel. He further said that it would cause negative impact on the overall moral of the armed forces and it would become a tough task to recruit and retain the forces. He further said it would be a devastating impact on the military and civil workers. It would also affect the allies and the enemies, according to Mr. Hagel. Mr. Panetta said that this cut down in budget would be doomsday Mechanism. When talking about the introduction of expensive weapon in US military, Mr. Hagel said that the new Air Jets would be included in the US Armed forces soon.

NORTH KOREA THREATENS UNITED STATES OF A PRE-EMPTIVE NUCLEAR STRIKE

on Thursday, March 28, 2013

Relations between United States and Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, or North Korea, have climbed from one step to another since the era of the Korean War. Support of the US to South Korea in the War left a mark on the hearts of North Korean people that has never been lifted. In fact, the hostility reached a burning point earlier when North Korea threatened its ‘‘aggressors’’ including United States with a preemptive NUCLEAR STRIKE to defend its mainland and warned United Nations “not to make another big blunder”. This happened soon after the United Nations voted for tougher sanctions against North Korea in response to its last month nuclear test.

North Korean leadership has always adopted an aggressive stance against its enemies. Korea has threatened its adversaries several times in the past to evade or delay any sanctions. The latest intimidation of a nuclear strike demonstrates a similar response by North Korea when earlier U.S. and China voted for intensified sanctions against Korea in the United Nations. The proposal of latest sanctions intends to impede Korean régime in its nuclear program bringing to a halt. But the result of these sanctions may be contradictory to what has been aimed to achieve in the form of an amplified retaliation by North Korea.

Nuclear history of both nations date back decades. The US positioned its nukes in South Korea to maintain regional deterrence in 1958. The oppressed North Korea sought help from both Russia and China in assistance to develop nuclear weapons but faced refusal. Therefore retorted by front line deployment of its conventional forces and constructing massive underground strongholds against a possible US attack. But North Korea never backed out of its supreme goal of developing nuclear arms conducting its first successful test in 2006.

North Korea has always perceived the presence of United States on the South Korean soil as a threat to its national security. U.S. has been constantly backing South Korea since the division of the Peninsula. Constant accusations have been made by the North Korea against U.S. and South Korea for their heightened military activities. On the other side, alliance of North Korea with communist Soviet Union and China later followed by development of Nuclear Weapons have restrained U.S. from developing cordial relations with North Korea. U.S. also implemented economic sanctions against North Korea from 1950 lasting in 2008.

Leadership of Korea has always adopted military oriented policies. Most of the development reserves are used for the further strengthening of their military forces. Economy of North Korea has greatly impoverished following their military advancement. According to the UN, about two-third population of North Korea suffer from food insecurity. China is the leading trade partner of North Korea. But collaboration of China with U.S. in United Nations resolution against Korean Nuclear program can hamper the relationship of both countries causing further collapse of Korean economy.

Unlike the past, North Korea may review its aggravated decisions following the involvement of China in the sanctions. Losing an economic giant like China as an ally will prove to be a huge setback to Korea in the future. Table talks always make for a better alternative in the development of international relations than resorting to a military settlement. The devastations of a nuclear war can impinge on the generations to come and a nuclear-free World is the way to a prosperous future.

Why Iran should be allowed to go nuclear

on Thursday, March 7, 2013

As somebody who is a vocal supporter of the Global Zero campaign (an initiative working towards the elimination of nuclear weapons), I don’t entirely believe Iran, or anybody for that matter, should be allowed to go nuclear. However, as my youthful idealism diminishes, I am slowly starting to believe that Iran has all the right in the world to develop a nuclear program, even if that means Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has control of a nuclear bomb. Would a nuclear Iran lead to a safer world? That is debatable, but completely irrelevant.

The world does not want to see Iran with a nuclear bomb because it has repeatedly expressed its desire to attack Israel (not with nuclear bombs, but still). That, to me, makes perfect sense. You don’t want a ridiculously aggressive country with something as catastrophic as a nuclear bomb since that can only mean destruction. But why the double standards? If we look at countries with nuclear weapons today, most of them are quite aggressive. Israel has repeatedly expressed its desire to attack Iran, and senior lawmakers have discussed the likelihood of such an attack. Likewise, the United States of America has carried out military operations in several parts of the world. Pakistan and India have constantly been bickering and they have history against them, having fought three wars in just 65 years.

By hindering Iran from developing its civil nuclear program, even if it does in fact result in Iran having a nuclear bomb, what the international community is in fact doing is stopping those countries who are playing it by the rules. On one hand, we have countries such as Israel, Pakistan and India, who actually have nuclear weapons despite not having signed the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). These countries are running with the help of international aid, rather than sanctions. Meanwhile, Iran, a signatory of the treaty, is being prevented from exercising its right to develop a civil nuclear program. If the international community is truly afraid of nuclear weapons going into the wrong hands, shouldn’t it impose economic sanctions on countries that have not even agreed to further the goal of nuclear disarmament? Do we really want a world in which those who play by the rules are sanctioned and those who violate them are rewarded?

I would like to see a world with no nuclear weapons. I don’t buy the argument that the world is a safer place with nuclear countries because their presence usually prevents wars. The world has matured enough to prevent wars through diplomacy, even without nuclear weapons in the peripheral vision of countries. The Global Zero program is one that is not expected to make much headway any time soon. Some countries have actually destroyed their nuclear weapons, but  it is not expected that any more will follow suit in the near future. There is absolutely no ground under which Iran should be deprived of a civilian nuclear program. The five members of the Security Council of the United Nations, all nuclear powers, should get themselves in order before getting others to comply with stricter rules on global safety.

North Korea’s Third Nuclear Test

on Saturday, February 23, 2013

Continuing to defy the Agreed Framework signed back in 1994 by North Korea and the United States, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea underwent a nuclear test again this month. North Korea was supposed to drop its graphite moderated reactor program in exchange for  fuel, light-water reactor powered nuclear plants, and better economic and strategic relations with the United States under the aforementioned Framework. But on the 12th February, 2013, the China Earthquake Networks Center and the United States Geological Survey caught tremors that were later discerned as an underground nuclear explosion.

It is widely acknowledged that the February nuclear test came as a direct response to United Nations Security Council’s vote  in favor of increased sanctions on Pyongyang. North Korea has been highly offensive in its stance towards nukes, evident  from its third experiment in the last 7 years. Kim Jong-Un, the supreme leader of North Korea, has stated that the experiments are a part of their fight against the United States for their hostile behavior towards them. Upholding the policy of military deterrence, he vowed not to pay heed to the international pressure, even if it came from their longstanding ally, China.

United States of America, described as hostile by the North Korean government, has expressed its utmost disapproval of the incident, stating that Pyongyang’s continuous defiance of the U.N. resolution will only worsen the ever-strenuous relations between the two countries. US President Barrack Obama has cited the tests as “highly provocative” seeing them as a blatant challenge to the international security concerns that will further hurt the regional stability. Obama voiced further enhancements of economic sanctions on the already isolated state. The President of United States added that his government will take any steps necessary to ensure the safety of US and its allies.

Ban Ki Moon, the Secretary General of the UN, has rightly termed the experiments as “clear and grave violations” of the Security Council’s resolutions. He said that North Korea will require a lot more than condemnation from the international community to change its ways. Termination of economic relations is in order to tame the wayward country.

Countries in the region, and the international community at large, have come together against the continuous ridiculing of the UN resolution. North Korea is already left with little or no allies except for China, and the outrage caused by the latest nuclear experiments has left it vehemently ashamed. China has completely backed the UN resolution that was passed in response to North Korea’s advancement.

Japan was the first to summon a UN meeting on the very day of the experiments. Japanese Premier Shinzo Abe has labeled it as intolerable and has sternly warned about unwanted but expected outcomes if Pyongyang fails to reconsider its stances. The deputy spokesperson for the South Korean Unification Ministry has stated that North Korea’s nuclear program is a threat to the whole world. He further advised that the country should switch to a more cooperative path to avoid tension in the region.

Nuclear Power In Pakistan

Nuclear Power In Pakistan

Pakistan has become the first Muslim country to have a well-established nuclear power plant. In the year 2009, Pakistan nuclear power was being supplied by 3 licensed commercial nuclear power plants. The firms that are responsible for the operation of the nuclear power plants include the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC), as well as the governmental agency that has been one of the most active in supplying the nuclear energy in Pakistan.

By the year 2009, the amount of power that was being produced by Pakistan continued to increase tremendously. In this year, it was able to have a power supply of electricity of about 2 percent of the nuclear plant. In addition to that, Pakistan is among the Muslim countries that are nuclear armed. They have a wide range of nuclear facilities which are very sophisticated and dangerous that can cause mass destruction. India and North Korea are also among the countries that have nuclear facilities plant.

However, India and Korea are not among the members of the nuclear non-proliferation treaty. On the other hand, they are members of the organization that supports the proper usage of the nuclear and atomic energy. This organization has been established to ensure that there is proper usage of the nuclear facilities that are produced all over the globe rather than using it for destruction purposes. This is because the energy produced as well as the emission of the chemicals that are within the production firms are very high and harmful. If they are not well taken care of, they might have dangerous health effects on people.

The Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission has worked hand in hand with the British Nuclear Fuels Limited (BNFL) so that they can come up with a better use of the plutonium energy as well as device means to have proper nuclear firms for the purpose of reprocessing. Material assistance as well as funds for the plants came from various sources. The whole project began in the year 1972, and up to this point, there were a number of nuclear reactor plants that have already been in operation.

The production processes faced a lot of challenges. They got terminated several times because America was not pleased with the concept of having nuclear plant in 1977. Even though France assisted in resuming the project, it was resumed only to be cancelled again in the year 2000. After the reprocessing of the nuclear plant, other parties like the Chinese, the Indians and the Soviet Union had shown greater interest. At the present moment, there are only 3 nuclear reactors that are running in Pakistan. There is not any information about the other reactors whether they are operational or they will run in the near future. Russia, also, has a well-established nuclear plant. It assists Iran to build a nuclear facility so that they can fight back their rivals.
