How Do You See Muslims?

on Tuesday, August 13, 2013

Being a Muslim is not wrong. However some immoral people in the community are serving iniquitous messages to the society. Islam is a religion that was introduced to spread peace and love among mankind. Every person is free to follow any religion, similar to other creeds even Muslims are humans, and they should be treated equally by all other communities.

There are few general facts that have changed the opinion of people towards Islam and Muslims. As per the observation, it has been proved that maximum people who get influenced to terrorism are Muslims. Some people of this community is taking Islam to the incorrect direction. The fact is totally different, there are impious people in every community. A person should not be judged by his /her religion. There are few points which will help you to develop a positive thinking towards Islam.

•All people of this culture is not bad. There are few members who are well versed with Islam and do follow it correctly.

•A true follower of Islam is always humble and tries to maintain harmony in the society.

•Islam teaches people to stay friendly and help others when they are in need.

• All holy books state one general thing and that it is love for humanity. It is us who take these lessons wrongly and get misguided.

•Remember one thing, there is only one creator. No matter which community a person may belong to.

•Being a good Samaritan is the first concept that every human should follow.

•Every soul is created by one supreme power; therefore equal treatment should be given to everyone.

A Muslim is well known with the teachings of Islam is a communal individual. The mission of his life is to maintain good contact with people and respects the traditions of every community. It is not essential that a person who is born in this community is following the religion truly. A factual Muslim is the one who understands and pursues the concept of Islam. The definition of Islam is that an individual should lay complete dedication to God. Islam states that God is the almighty, and we should obey his commands.

In Quran, it has been said “God created man from a blood clot and constantly formed jinn from the flames. The human being is his best creation, and their duty is to serve and obey the commands of God.

In Quran 2:177, it was stated that the right human is one who believes in god (Allah), angels, last day, the prophets and the scriptures. An ingenious Muslim does not stop at the back, deceives or cheat others. The basic teaching of Islam is to follow truth, loyalty, purity and sincerity. Therefore, it is always advisable to judge a Muslim with his/her nature and not by just the name of their community” Muslims”.

Are We True Muslims?

on Friday, June 7, 2013

Can we call ourselves true Muslims? An estimate is that from every 1000 people in this world who call themselves Muslims only 4 are actually Muslims.

One of the main reasons is the different sects that we have in the current population of the Muslims in the world. Each sect has independently studied the Quran and Hadith, and made their own rules and assumptions based on their understanding. If we read the histories of the many founders of the different sect, we see that they all made rules and assumptions based on their own understanding. We have more than 73 sects in Islam with their own understanding of Islam.

A common man is now picking items from each sect that he likes or wants to do. Rather than following any given sect and going into details as to what is right and what is wrong. Many just choose few easy things from different sects and say that they are following them as per Islam. One example is that if a certain sect says that working in a bank where the major income is through Interest is haram (forbidden) and another sect says that it is halal (allowed) a common man would say that it is Halal. And in another case, if the same sect that terms working in a bank as Halal says that Zakat must be paid on certain items which another sect says that it should not be paid then they would follow the other sect in order to stay out of socket. Now the question is, are we truly following Islam? Or we just use the name of Islam to do what we need and enjoy the luxuries of life the way we need?

Islam has very clear instructions on how women should cover themselves fully with hijab in front of other males, but are we doing that? Even in Islamic countries we do not see that alcohol is prohibited in Islam and are we avoiding that? Nowadays, some Muslim countries are top importers of expensive wine and other alcoholic drinks. In many cases, men and women are both found drinking alcohol. Is this what we call true Muslims? We are getting so involved with the luxuries of life and taking so many habits from the non Muslim world, and we are forgetting what being a real Muslim is.

Many of us do not even do the very basic requirements of Islam on a regular basis. If we look at the mosques in today’s world, we see many being empty. If we look at the Islamic education institutes which should be filled with kids, we see them empty. Now, how can we expect to spread Islam and follow it when we do not even have time to go to the mosque ourselves or send our children to the institute? For us the normal academic education is more important than to teach our children the fundamentals of Islam at the early age when they would really remember what they learn.

All of us should really take a close look at what we do, how we behave and what we follow before we say that we are Muslim as when we look close enough we would probably be shameful if anything on calling ourselves a Muslim.

Is it Difficult to get a UK Visa for Muslims?

on Tuesday, March 26, 2013

The transformation of the world into a global village has increased the inter-contentedness and the immigration across the world. The immigration of Muslims into the Western world has increased in the past few decades, and the Muslims have been now accessing all parts of the world. The immigration policies of countries have also changed over time, but the migration policy of the UK towards Muslims remains unchanged. The Muslims started getting access to the US and other European states including some specific parts of the UK, Germany and France etc. However, the access of the Muslim population to the UK and the problems they have to face while struggling for visa have largely increased in the past few years.

A lot of people living in the UK believe that the Muslim immigrants are not assimilating well into the British culture, mainly because they are not willing to do so. A survey conducted by transatlantic trends discovered that 53 percent of UK people share the same thought. It further revealed that the level of immigration has declined recently in the UK as compared to other European countries because “Islam” is considered to be incompatible to the British secular democratic system. The people residing in the UK are fearful that they will be isolated in their own state fearing the “Islamification of UK.” Due to these reasons, the Muslims today are finding it difficult to get a UK visa and immigration so easily.

Meanwhile, in the recent years, a lot of Muslims who migrated to the UK on study visas somehow managed to take other people with them, and struggled to settle permanently in the UK. This led to the expansion of the Muslim community within the UK. The problem of issuing such a large number of visas was seen by the government and strict restrictions were imposed upon granting of Visa to the Muslims. The British Prime Minister David Cameron called this as “immigration fraud”. He said that the Immigration by students has almost trebled in the past decade. He added that most of the students come with their families and trying to settle by getting low levels of jobs and that this issue is becoming out of control.

Due to such rapid expansion of Muslim community, the residents of UK started feeling secluded and started demanding limitations on the inflow of the Muslim population. The PM said that he wanted to reduce the immigration to the level of 1980s and due to increased checks and balances. The Muslims now find it quite difficult to get a UK visa. The Express Tribune reported that the UK government has imposed a limit of no more than 21,700 economic immigrants from outside EU including Muslims per year which has reduced the chance of “easy UK visas”. The fear of Islam taking over in UK has widened the immigration gap between the communities causing problems for the Muslim population in need of visas.

Will Obama meet the Expectations of Muslims?

on Thursday, November 15, 2012

The world had their eyes over who would be the next president of the world’s strongest nation. Romney and Obama were running against each other in the presidential elections, and on the 6th of November 2012, Barack Obama was re-elected as the President of the United States of America. During his past four years of American presidency Obama has been popular within some Muslim countries and unpopular within other Muslim countries. Muslims of Egypt and Syria have high expectations for Obama’s achievements. Riots took place in these countries as both of them wanted democratic government. Obama supported these protests and moved forward to exert pressure for developing the democratic government.

Obama has been popular among Palestinians as well. Israel has tried to force Obama to send US troops into Palestine so that Israel can reclaim Palestine, but Obama has shown no interest in this case. Israelis have also tried to force Obama to take over the Nuclear weapons in Iran. Obama resisted this offer as well, thus making him popular among the Muslims of Palestine and Iran. However, Obama has been very unpopular among the Muslims of Pakistan. Anti-American riots and protests began in Pakistan during his government. In the past four years, the US drone attacks have increased in the northern areas of Pakistan. These attacks have killed terrorists along with innocent men, women and children. One accidental US drone attack took place at the Salala checkpoint which killed a Pakistani Army militant. The event of Raymond Davis and the secret Abbottabad operation against Osma bin Laden made him even more unpopular. Therefore, the people of the USA have given a new chance to Obama to restore his popularity. Therefore Obama should come forward to solve these universal problems and conflicts. Muslim people want to stop the war in Afghanistan and Palestine because it is illegal. There is no cause for war in Palestine. This problem is also awaiting the consideration of the United Nations.

Apart from all of this, Obama become more unpopular due to the American-made anti-Muslim video uploaded on YouTube. The video caused protest against America. During his campaign, Obama stated that this video was an insult to America and that he would jail the directors. Obama has promised to declare Palestine as a peaceful state. Muslims have high expectations for him, and they are hoping for peace in their regions. Pakistani Muslims also have hope that Obama will slow down the drone attacks, whereas Afghans are hoping that he will withdraw US troops from Afghanistan. There are hopes all around the Muslim world that Obama will meet their expectations. The policies of the USA were anti-Muslim during the last few years, therefore this trend should be changed. The misconceptions between the Muslims and the USA should be removed in order to create a good environment. Obama can play a very  important role in this way.

Currently, Obama has several goals for the future, such as the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan and addressing the dispute of Palestine. Similarly, the Kashmir conflict is also awaiting attention of the president. The USA is most powerful country in the world, and therefore the role of Obama is significant to solve these universal problems.

Why can't the BNP be prosecuted for distributing hate literature against Muslims?

on Sunday, November 11, 2012

The Nottingham-based Building For The Future blog has drawn its readers' attention to this leaflet, which has been distributed by the British National Party in Luton.

As the BFTF writer notes, the flyer "appeared to have come straight out of 1930s Germany (and BFTF does not use that analogy lightly) – with the exception that instead of hate caricatures of Jews, it was Muslims that the BNP were now choosing to portray as the evil menace in our midst".

The writer wants to know whether "this qualifies as an inciteful document and should not be allowed" and has "asked the local council and MP what (if anything) would happen if the BNP started distributing flyers like this in Nottingham".

The answer is – probably very little. In August this year a former Lib Dem parliamentary candidate named Linda Jack called for the BNP to be prosecuted for distributing the leaflet in Luton but got nowhere.

If the leaflet were directed against Jews rather than Muslims there would be a realistic prospect of the BNP being charged with inciting racial hatred. But Muslims are not covered by racial hatred legislation and have to rely on the religious hatred law, which is completely useless. On the one occasion that a BNP member has been prosecuted for inciting religious hatred he was inevitably acquitted.

There is an urgent need to amend the law against incitement to religious hatred so that it does provide effective protection for the Muslim community. However, even in the current situation there is no excuse for the police refusing to take action over leaflets like this. There would appear to be good grounds for Muslims who have received the flyer to demand that the BNP should be prosecuted for religiously aggravated harassment.

Does ‘’Citizen Khan’’ at BBC Make Fun of Muslims?

on Friday, August 31, 2012

The British Broadcasting Corporation ‘’BBC’’ received many complaints against it because of displaying a series that makes fun of a Pakistani Muslim family and among those complaints was a complaint about criticizing the Muslim community in Britain.

‘’Agence France Presse’’ news agency said that the series “Citizen Khan” shows a Muslim family from a Pakistani origin in the context of comedy, created and directed by a Pakistani origin British Muslim called “Adil Ray” and who also performs the role of the father of the Muslim family in the series.

‘’Citizen Khan’’ series which consists of seven episodes of the family consisting of a Muslim father, a Muslim mother, two Muslim daughters and a son, of a funny Pakistani origin, raised around two hundred complaints from different Muslim families.

According to the Guardian British news, Viewers complained that the show was offensive and there have been comparisons with the controversial 1970s comedy Mind Your Language.

The criticism of the series focused on a number of scenes in the first episode, including the eldest daughter who is seeking to hide from her father; because it was wearing a lot of makeup, and this is by wearing the Muslim women veil and holding the Koran to claim that they are reading it, in order for her father not to speak to her and not to discover that she was wearing a lot of powder and make up.

The BBC said in its statement about the series “Citizen Khan” that the series made a good impression at the start of broadcasting with more than 6.3 million viewers.

The BBC said that the new comedy shows always have different reactions from watchers and that the persons presented in the series are comedian characters and do not intended to represent any of the minorities.

‘’Citizen Khan has made a very positive start, launching successfully with 3.6 million viewers and a 21.5% share in a late night slot.’’, a BBC spokesman.

On the other side, some watchers defended the show having the opinion that people are reading too much into ‘’Citizen Khan’’ especially when speaking about the Muslim women veil scene.

Finally, the director of ‘’Citizen Khan’’ series said that he thought it was a good chance as Mr. Khan was a Pakistani Muslim, and the series sought for a smile from the watcher because of what the family was doing and that he believed in this form of art.

Do Peace Representatives have a say in The Sufferings Of Burmese Muslims?

on Wednesday, August 15, 2012

Do Peace Representetives have a say in Burma

More than 800,000 Muslims live in Burma currently. These Muslims belong to the Arakan state of western Burma, the area being known as the Rohingya. Thereby, these Muslims are referred to as the Rohingyan Muslims. Being a minority, these Muslims have always been mistreated by the ethnic and religious clashes in Burma. These classes include Buddhists. For many decades, more specifically since 1920, violence against Muslims has increased. The Buddhist community has been increasingly violent towards the minority Muslim community. Since June 2012, many Muslims have been killed, raped, and burnt alive and slaughtered. There is no specific reason for the violence. But, since the Arabs have started to settle in Arakan state, the tolerance of the Buddhists for the Muslim community has reduced drastically. Based on these facts, the Buddhists never let go of any opportunity of being violent to the Muslims.

The fact is not related to an increase in violence, but to the silence adopted by the international community on the levels of the tortures and injustice being endured by the Burmese Muslim community. A number of international and well known public figures are turning their backs on the status of these Muslims in the Burmese community. There are a number of public figures who support the violent behaviors of the Buddhists with the Burmese Muslims.

One of the main examples of such personalities includes Aung San Suu Kyi, who is a well-known Nobel Laureate. An important and a disturbing statement as given by Aung San Suu Kyi is that Muslims living in Burma are not to be given the status of citizens. Adding to this, she has never condemned to the killings of Muslims in Burma. The only statement made by her during any important press conference mentions the fact of the existence of ethnic and religious conflicts between Buddhists and Muslims. She has always been found saying that the ethnic and religious conflicts need to be dealt with in a better manner. These kinds of cold statements are a source of shock for the society as Aung San Suu Kyi is a Nobel peace prize winner.

The second important example is the Dalai Lama who is a well-known undercover CIA agent. He has never uttered a single word of sympathy for the Muslims of Burma. The intolerance of the Buddhists against Muslims is increasing day by day and it needs to be noticed. This is the kind of behavior that results in an increase of violence from the side of the Buddhists, consequently an increase in pains of the suffering Muslims. When there is no one from the international community to answer for the pains of these Muslims, the Muslims will somehow start preparing for their own defense. Many Muslims have started forming resistance groups in order to combat the attacks launched at them by the Buddhist community.
