Main Issues of Israel and Palestine With role of US and UNO

on Tuesday, August 20, 2013

The conflict between Israel and Palestine has always grabbed the attention of the UN and many other organizations. Israel and Palestine differ a lot in many aspects including their outlook, which always gives rise to many problems among them. The Israeli government refused to accept the Palestinian state while Israel was not accepted by most of the Arabs.

Israelis are in favor of the US more likely while Palestinians are usually undivided in giving a statement that the US supports Israel in this chronical dispute. The Israelis have decided to construct 800 housing units in the areas of Occupied Palestine. This act shows Israeli’s skepticism and lack of commitment to peace.

THE ROLE OF US AND UNO IN ISRAELIS-PALESTINIANS DISPUTE:

According to a survey, America is the only country where Americans show maximum number of positive views about Israel, and they are highly in favor of them. After the end of World War II, the United States was one of the prominent nations which encouraged and settled the cease of fire between the Israelis and Palestinians. As Israel is viewed economically among the oil rich Middle Eastern countries, so it is provided with financial and military support. The support of US to Israel left a very devastating effect on the Palestinians. About 3000 Palestinians Children aging between 8-15 are suffering a lot in the region according to the following percentages:

  • 93% of those children were tear-gassed.
  • 85% of them had their home invaded.
  • 55% had witnessed their father beaten.
  • 42% had been beaten themselves.
  • 31% had been shot.
  • 69% had been exposed to more than 4 types of trauma.
  • 28% had their brother imprisoned.

These results shattered the whole Palestinian society. These innocent children definitely don’t deserve to be killed like this. But still the larger American society is in favor of Israel, and they have closed their eyes and turned deaf ears towards these situations.

The Palestinian people are hopeless regarding the help provided by the United Nations. But General Assembly played an active role in solving the conflict between the two countries. Despite all the weaknesses and flaws of the United Nations, it still offers the best chance to lead the conflicting parties in the direction of negotiated settlements.

Moreover, Palestinians and Israelis consider the UN to be biased and inefficient due to many reasons. A UN resolution was passed in the end of 2000 that the UN would look into these violations. This resolution criticized Israel so the US did not like it. The resolution did not support Israel that’s why its effectiveness was ended for the US interests.

It’s the time of calling peace to the frontage. It’s not possible that direct negotiations will work but any such negotiations must be revealed within an agenda with the demand for peace on the top of the list. This is a major conflict which can only be solved by active participation of the UN.

Why I Sympathize with Israel

on Friday, April 26, 2013

“Go from your land … to the land that I will show you.” (Genesis 12:1)

It’s unthinkable trying to defend Israel for many Muslims, and for many non-Muslim humanitarians all over the world. The Israeli government is responsible for heinous atrocities that has put a bad light to Israel all over the world. Every time I hear about how Israel is constructing homes on land it occupied through brute force, I cannot help but cringe. This feeling only lasts when I do not look at things in historical context, something I think people forget to see.

If you trace history back long enough, the Jews were in Israel a lot longer than Muslims  and Christians. If we go by length of occupation, the Jews definitely win. They have ruled Jerusalem as well as lived in it peacefully under Muslim and to a lesser degree, Christian rule. However, Jews inhabited the lands of modern day Israel much before the advent of Islam. If one was to argue that the Palestinians were in the region before the Israelis, one has to accept the argument that Jews were there more than a thousand years before Muslims.

Moreover, I cannot help but draw parallels to almost every nation state in the modern world.Look at the United States of America, and see what the early immigrants did to the natives. Australia was no different to its indigenous aborigine population. The Muslims also pretty much overthrew local regimes to get lands that were not originally there. An example that might hit many readers closer to where it huts is that of the millions of Muslims who migrated from India to modern day Pakistan because they wanted a separate homeland to practice their religion freely.

Should the Israelis be condemned for trying to form a nation during a time when human rights are finally being given due recognition? Perhaps, but just because Israelis were wronged in the past does not mean that they do not deserve a place they can call home. The hardball tactics adopted by the Israeli government need to be categorically condemned, but let’s not forget the bigger picture – not all Israelis are terrorists, they were just as much victims as Palestinians are today.

Ultimately, I would like to see a secular country formed in the land that makes up Israel and the Palestinian Authority. A two-state solution is likely to be one filled with mistrust and violence, but if adequate representation is given to people of both Palestinian and Israeli origin with a secular framework, I think Palestinians and Israelis are perfectly capable of living together in one state. Long term peace in the Middle East is only possible with more interaction between Israelis and Palestinians – and Muslims and Jews; not by more isolation and segregation.

Can Obama’s Visit to Israel be the Game Changer?

on Wednesday, April 10, 2013

The inflated sense of tension ensuing from Gaza and Palestine has had a further increment amid the speculations and expected outcomes of the US President Barrack Hussein Obama’s meeting with Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli premier. A lot is being said about the three days visit that started on the 20th when the US President landed in Tel Aviv.

With analysts drawing the reader’s attention towards Obama’s initial stance about the matter of Israel, some expect him to be not as welcome in Israel as any other American president would be. This is the case because of the standpoint taken by him about the Palestinian problem in his initial days at the White House. He clearly propagated an idea of two adjacent states in the name of Israel and Palestine –an idea not applauded by Israel at all.

Though Obama’s stance over Iran and its nuclear program was rather oratory with the same tone and rather formal remarks over the nuclear program being a threat to the world and so on, the real point of importance was his speech regarding Palestine.

It was very likely that Obama has had a change of tactics when talking about Muslims –a change probably triggered by the negative response he received in the aftermath of his 2009 Cairo speech, where he showed a soft corner for the Palestinians. But regardless of that, his speech at the International Convention Center Jerusalem did have some surprises; the biggest of them without doubt would be uttering something that no other American president has ever said:

“The need for justice for the Palestinians”

It was evident from his initial praise and pampering of Israel that he wanted to be on the good side of the gold crib baby, but eventually he did manage to switch to a rather mature tone. Clearly depicting his improved political experience, he made it a point that the two-state theory was a serious consideration –something that Israel has neither favored nor shown interest in. Another very impressive stance, taken by the American president, was to highlight the Israeli concerns about security being the major reason for their actions against Palestinian people. In doing so, his point was that he does not consider it to be a fertile way of reaching peace.

The visit to Israel followed by a visit to Palestine in such early days of his term seriously has their impact. Add to that, the air of seriousness that the meetings have carried, a good analyst can be sure of one thing; the Obama administration is sincerely starting to work towards solving the crisis. If it is so, it will be for the first time since Obama’s initial election as a president that his government will take honest steps towards solving the matter. Though opinions might get biased at some point owing to the long standing alliance between Israel and the US, but there still is some level of decipherable hope in Obama’s words.

OBAMA IN ISRAEL –SPECULATIONS AND TRUTH

on Friday, March 29, 2013

Touching down in Tel Aviv on Wednesday the 20th of March 21, 2013 Obama met Netanyahu for the first time after his re-election. The US elected President, Barrack Obama is due on a three day tour to Israel and Palestine; ensuing a great debate as to what this trip could bring about.

No matter what the inside motives could be, the tour is being classed as a historical one since according to some of the analysts Obama has, by word of his own mouth, labeled himself as one of the most hostile American Presidents when it comes to Israel. It would be honest though, to rephrase that term to “the closest to hostile that an American President has ever been”.

The aura created by Obama-Netanyahu meeting at the Israeli premier’s residency is filled with speculations. Nevertheless, two basic agendas bound to be under debate are the Palestine issue and the action plan relating to Iran’s nuclear program. With the later being a topic that is potentially more dangerous the visit might just disappoint some of the onlookers who expect something noteworthy about Palestine.

It is worth mentioning here that in one of his earlier addresses, Barrack Obama had clearly stated that he would favor two adjacent states being created –believing that it is the only solution to the longstanding discomfort in the region. Such a solution is evidently considered as a risky one by most of the Israeli allies and Israel itself since they fear a perpetual risk of attack from Palestine and its allies –not to forget that this concept is utterly comical to some of the opposing analysts. Obama is expected to have gone to understand how close or far are the leaderships of the two countries to a decent dialogue.

The other, certainly more chilling and pressing matter, of the Iranian nuclear program and Israel’s intended response, are expected to take up most of the time since the topic is highly volatile if Iran’s stance is justifiable and understood. Some of the critics believe that Obama is standing averse to Israel’s preemptive use of military against Iran. This could be seen as logical and disloyal at the same time by people with differing opinions. One might say that Israel’s aggressive stance can only bring one thing to the region and specially Israel, and that is harm. Ahmedinejad has made it clear that it is their de facto right to secure their country form all alien elements that herald trouble. Needless to say, Iran considers Israel as their sworn enemy and would not hesitate from reacting even more violently if the situation was aggravated. This is a point that Netanyahu and Obama might just not be in unison about since Obama has recently sought more diplomatic solutions to the issue.

Debates aside, one fact stays the same, US has and apparently will always be Israel’s greatest aid –no matter how negatively the world may see it.

Is War between Iran and Israel Inevitable?

on Thursday, March 28, 2013

Iran has become a controversial issue for most of the European and American countries. The main reason behind the discomfort in relation between Iran and the rest of the western world is Iran’s nuclear program. Now the war between Iran and Israel is not a possibility but certain up to some extent according to the General Muhammad Ali Jafri. The Iranian general further stated that it is shameful and cancerous tumor that Israel is seeking war against Iran, but no one knows when will the war start. He added that Israel thinks that the only way to confront Iran is through war, but they are so stupid that their (US) masters should stop them.

The recent defeat of the United Nation on Iran’s nuclear program has made a significant impact on the rivalry between the two nations. Moreover, the US defense secretary told the media that Israel can launch an attack on Iran in any of the coming months of April, May or June. As we all know that the US has a strong interest in the region as this region is full of natural resources like coal and oil. The US is sharing defense strategy, intelligence and has military alliance with Israel. Moreover, there is intense rivalry between Iran and the USA over the conflict of the nuclear program.

From the statement of the Secretary of Defense, Leon Penetta , it looks certain that Israel will launch an attack on Iran, the other aspect of this statement is to blackmail or put pressure on Iran to change its behavior with the UN and the IAEA. Israel has allowed these speculations on the media that they will attack Iran, this will allow Iran to speed up the task of the nuclear program, and by this when they attack Iran, they would have full justification for attacking them.

Many political analysts and foreign advocates publically told the media that even if the USA is try to keep itself away from Israel and Iran possible war but once Israel attacks the Irani nuclear program, it will become a suicide act and the USA will no longer distance itself from the war.

No matter what the consequence will be, the USA will not be able to distance itself from this conflict, and it will have to jump in to help and support Israel at some point of the war. Previously, the Iranian generals and officials didn’t speak publically about the possible war between Iran and Israel, but now the comments from officials and generals raised the speculation of war between the two nations. It seems that Iran is ready to fight with the old foes, and they have made their mind to defend their homeland. The leadership in Iran announced publicly that the nuclear program is their right, and they will do whatever it takes to complete this program.

Is US playing in the hands of Israel

on Tuesday, March 19, 2013

Everybody knows that America is the super power these days. All people think that it is America that controls everything going on in the world. Many world issues are in the hands of America, which is known to have all the latest technology, the best rules, the best control over the world. However, according to some, America itself is not controlling it all. It has a backing, or it is not suitable to use the word backing’ because it is actually controlled by another power. The hidden power is actually controlling America in all its decisions. It has taken control over its foreign policy and public speaking. This means that whenever you think that America has issued some orders or America has said something, understand that it is the hidden power behind, that is issuing orders.

So what is backing America? What is the other power that is also controlling the super power? It is actually Israel. A man living in an area that was controlled by Jews, moved to America, thinking that America is a country where people gave freedom. Soon, after living for some time in America, he realized that America was no less than a slave for Israel. Where Israel controls other places militarily, it controls America politically.

Talking about the situation of Palestine, everybody knows that Israel is ruling over Palestine. Palestinians themselves know that they are slaves for others. On the other hand, America considers itself a champion. They consider themselves as free people, but the truth is opposite. They are no better than Palestinians are. In fact, Palestinians are better as they know and acknowledge that they are oppressed. On the other hand, the American people do not know how they are being treated as slaves. This is because it has not being declared politically.

So what makes us feel about Jewish interference in American politics? Well, looking at the history of America, we will find the president of America John Kennedy was succeeded by his brother, who soon realized that America was on trouble. He realized that America was going to get under the control of Israel. However, we see America as a free country. We see that whatever they do is on their own decision, but there is a lot hidden. A lot is hidden from the public, and a lot is not known.

To understand it all clearly, here are a few evidences. There is an American Israel Public Affair Committee that holds meetings for the state of Israel. Apart from that, if we look into the past, we see that America lost some billions of dollars when it bought arms and then Israel ordered to sell them to Saudi Arabia. Whatever happens in America and whatever financial or military decision, America takes, it is controlled by Israel. Even in the Gulf war, Israel threatened America, indirectly that if America did not handle Iraq, Israel would. Thus, there are a lot of evidences that show that America is actually being backed by Israel in whatever it does.

Israel or US, who is the real super power?

on Tuesday, March 12, 2013

Over 130 Palestinians, including at least 11 civilians,  six of which  were children, and one pregnant woman, were killed within a few days by Israeli air strikes. The son of a BBC Arabic correspondent who was only eleven months old was killed in the air strike.

Since Israel killed Hamas’ military chief on Wednesday, five Israelis have been killed. Tony Blair, the former British Prime Minister and the Middle East peace envoy has shown his allegiance to Israel and called Hamas on Thursday to stop firing rockets from Gaza into Israel. Blair told a UK television news network that if the rocket fires carried on targeting Israeli towns and villages, the Jewish state would act to defend itself, and retaliation would increase.

Blair, it seems has his eyes set on the next Nobel Peace Prize which has in recent years been awarded to the US President Obama, the Burmese opposition leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, and the European Union. Blair who represents the diplomatic quartet which comprises of the US, EU, UN and Russia said that the immediate priority was to calm the situation, and to stop it from destabilizing the entire region.

Considering the pattern where the world is aware of Obama’s role in world peace and the efforts that the European Union carried out to rescue Iraq, Syria, Libya and Afghanistan, it won’t come as a huge surprise if the nominees of the next Nobel Peace Prize are Saudi King Abdulaziz or the Israeli Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, for their peace efforts in Palestine and Syria.

As it did numerous times in the past, the United States have thrown their weight behind Israel, and condemned Palestinian militant attacks on Southern Israel after a barrage of air strikes on the Gaza strip by the Israeli. An explanation for this unabashed defense of Israel could be that the US has used its veto powers since 2000 in nine occasions to favor Israel pertaining to their conflict with Palestine.

Who waged the war?

The answer might actually be very simple and straightforward to answer in this seemingly complex question. Israel started the air strikes, whereas leaders in the West are urging Palestinian militants to stop firing rockets on Israel. So where does Hamas stand? This is a political party and is elected by Palestinians, yet it is still being labeled as a militant group in the Western media.

Amnesty International, UN and human rights organizations are being made essentially irrelevant because killings are backed by global leaders in the name of democracy and human rights.

Thousands of innocent people have been relentlessly killed in Palestine and Israel in the ensuing war between the two. The answer to the question who is the real super power Israel or US is left to you, and what you may perceive of the two countries, and the war raging between them. Does the European Union and the United States play in the hands of Israel?

Palestine and Israel war

on Monday, December 3, 2012

A brief Overview:

The war between Palestine and Israel started back in the days of 20th century this whole conflict refers to the Arab and Zionist inhabitants living under British rule and Ottoman rule. It conflict consist mainly of the water controls, recognition, Palestinian independence movement, water rights, Israeli settlements, borders, and control of Jerusalem. Such disputes resulted in violence and international actions taken against the human rights and security. This restricts the tourism in the region which is of great religious and historical interest to the people around the world.

One of the reasons associated about the conflict rooted back in late 19th century and the start of 20th century; in the mean time Arab national movement came up gearing to attain power for the people living in the Middle East. The differences between the Palestinian nationalist as well as the southern Levant in 20s which later expanded in 1947 to Arab Israel wars.

Current Issue:

Current issues these days between the Israel and Palestine are:

  • Settlements
  • take hold of Arab land
  • Violence on Palestinian people
  • changing demographics
  •  Disregard UN resolutions

Israeli-Palestinian conflict is a growing disbelieve between its members. Strategies of political members joined with brutality done to the civilians against have promoted common aggression or lack of faith to make peace. Palestinian support for Hamas is considerable than of the Israeli people.

Role of UN:

The role of United Nation is considered as watch dog in this conflict. There are several Resolutions passed in the UN assembly against Israel but it seems that no one is going to take action against Israel. The UN is not doing justice to the Muslim world and issues of Muslim. Muslim countries considered it as a puppet handled by Americans and Jews.

Role of International Media:

The role of international media is biased till now in the Palestine-Israel war. Many European news papers have published news about the attack of Hamas in the city of Israel and they ignored that the Israel army has killed more than 150 people in one week.

Role of Muslim world:

There is no doubt that there is lack of unity among the Muslim countries. Several times OIC meetings has been called and several resolutions has been passed to support the Palestine but no implementation has been done till now. Reaction of Muslim world is great against the brutal attacks of Israel but when it comes to unity and leading from the front no country is ready to fight for Muslim brotherhood.

Israel, planing to attack Iran

on Thursday, October 18, 2012

The presence of Iran nuclear plant is the horn into the flesh of United States and Israel. US have tried hard to stop Iran from preparing its nuclear plant. US believe that Iran’s nuclear plant is being prepared against Israel and US and it will provide harm to rest of the world. Iran clears on the other hand that it has no intention to harm any nation of the world and nothing can stop it from making it.

To do something up against Iran nuclear plant, United States and Israel have planned to have a major joint missile- and air-defense drill in Israel later this month. This will not only pay tribute to the long lasting relationship between the countries but will also threat Iran nuclear plant. This stage will present and show to the world about their long military partnership.

According to the commanders heading the operation, around 1,000 US soldiers are on their way to Israel where they both, US and Israel will use anti-missile defense systems and a U.S. missile defense ship to respond to simulated attacks from multiple fronts.

There have surely been huge tensions about Iran’s nuclear plant; also elections are coming up in both United States and Israel. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has asked United States that Iran now must be given a deadline to stop its nuclear plant growth as Israel feels major threats from it.

On Wednesday, the military officials in charge of the drill, U.S. Lt. Gen. Craig Franklin and Israeli Brig. Gen. Nitzan Nuriel, took pains to emphasize that the exercise is the sixth in a series of regularly scheduled bilateral drills. The exercise will be “strictly defensive in nature,” Franklin said in a telephone briefing with reporters.

“AC-12 is not related to any national elections nor any perceived military tensions in the Middle East,” Franklin said, using an acronym to refer to the drill, which has been dubbed Austere Challenge 12. The officials declined to specify the precise start date of the exercise, which is expected to last about three weeks.

“Anybody can get any type of message from this exercise,” Nuriel said. “The fact that we are practicing together and working together is a strong message by itself.” (WP drill,18)

The drill may be faced by many threats to Israel from its neighbors. Lebanese militant group and political party Hezbollah, who supports Iran and its nuclear plant, claimed that they unleashed a drone which couldn’t enter the territory of Israel but was shot down at the territory of Israel border.

The drill was originally scheduled for to last spring, but it was canceled at Israel’s behest amid growing speculation of an impending Israeli attack on Iran. The number of U.S. troops slated to participate was also scaled back at Israel’s request, Franklin said. (WP drill,18)

Today, United States and Israel are threatened by the preparation of Iran nuclear plant and this drill is being done at the end of this month to lay pressure on Iran with their missiles.

Geller's 'support Israel, defeat jihad' message allowed on San Francisco buses – despite ban on political advertising

on Sunday, August 12, 2012

San Francisco's Municipal Transportation Agency has a policy against political ads on its buses, but an ad being displayed now comes pretty close. The ad says, "In any war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man. Support Israel. Defeat jihad."

The pro-Israel ad was purchased by the American Freedom Defense Initiative run by Pamela Geller.

The bus message didn't sit very well with the city system in New York. They refused to run them and Gellen took the transit authority to court. "And interestingly enough, the day that I won, was the day that San Francisco approved my ads that are currently running on your buses," Geller said.

A coincidence? Not according to Muni's spokesman Paul Rose. "In this specific case, litigation was brought to this organization and the transit agency lost," he told ABC7 News. So, the buses with the signs will continue to roll for at least the next four weeks.

Asked how this particular ad is not considered political in light of Muni's no-politics policy, Rose struggled to answer. However, the legal action and the fact that the New York MTA has already lost in court have had an impact.
