International women’s day is observed on every 8th of March. This is a day which is first known as international working women`s day. You can see that all countries and regions have celebrated this day according to their own culture and views. The celebrations in general are focused on appreciation, respect, love and freedom of women to take steps and actions in her own life. This day also refers to the appreciation of women in different fields like in economy, social sector and politics.

Nowadays, you can see that this day just became an occasion like the valentines day and the mother`s day and it lost its political touch. On the other hand, you can see that there are countries which follow the theme allotted by the United Nations, and they run this slogan strongly, and take measures for making people aware about the contribution of women and their rights. It is very much important to show the struggle of women to the society so that they can also feel confident, and know how important is their role in the development of a strong economic and political system in any region.

Women day was celebrated for the first time in 28 Feb 1909, in the United States of America. It was observed as a national women’s day. The reason for this day is that in year 1908, about 15000 women came on the road, and marched through New York City demanding for better pays, working for short hours and voting rights. Those women had reservations on the treatment that men carry towards them, so they came out to claim their rights.

Today, Women’s day is celebrated with the theme of the United Nations. The United Nations offered different slogan each year on which women work. The United Nations slogan for women in year 2013 is “A Promise is a Promise: Time for Action to End Violence against Women” So know all the NGOs and organizations that are working for the women rights have to follow this slogan and work on violence against women. They will arrange different seminars and workshops to make the society aware more about the right treatment for women.

The situation is improved as compare to earlier times but still there are lots of steps to be taken to fully ensure that women will not get any harsh treatment from the opposite sex, or even there should not be any discrimination between two women.

According to Islamic point of view, Muslim women are highly regarded and she is appointed as the queen of the house. The women in Islam are viewed as one who cannot be treated harshly unless she goes against the teachings of Islam. Islam also asked the women to stay in the house rather than going to the offices to earn money. All the responsibilities of women are given to men to whom she married.This way the Muslim women feel more protected and safe.

PVV leader Geert Wilders is to step up his campaign against Islam in 2013, the parliamentarian told Nos television in an interview.

The fight against Islam is a mission for life, Wilders told the broadcaster. Wilders said he would step up his fight against "the biggest sickness" the Netherlands has had at home and internationally, "from Australia to America, from Switzerland to wherever".

Wilders also again renewed his statement that the Netherlands has a "Moroccan problem". It is Moroccan racism that they rarely rob each other, Wilders said.

A female Saudi fighter will take part in the Olympic judo competition after being allowed to wear an Islamic headscarf, or hijab, of a specific design.

Wojdan Ali Seraj Abdulrahim Shaherkani is one of only two Saudi women to travel to London after the International Olympic Committee lobbied the conservative Islamic kingdom to end its refusal to send women to the Games.

But she had said she would only compete if she was allowed to wear the hijab, and judo officials refused, saying it would be dangerous.

A Saudi National Olympic Committee spokeswoman said the committee, the IOC and the International Judo Federation had now agreed on an acceptable form for the headscarf.

"They agreed on a design and she will compete wearing this design," Razan Baker said, adding that she did not know how this design looked.

IJF spokesman Nicolas Messner confirmed that Shaherkani would compete, but declined to give further details.

The IOC this year successfully pressed Saudi Arabia and fellow Muslim nations Qatar and Brunei, the last three countries to refuse to send women to the Olympics, to end their bans.

The Saudi decision to send Shaherkani and teenage 800-metre runner Sarah Attar was praised by IOC President Jacques Rogge at the time. Shaherkani is due to compete in the heavyweight category on Friday.

The IJF's regulations for the Olympic Games state that no headgear can be worn, and the federation says there could be a danger to fighters if a hijab is inadvertently used for an otherwise legal strangulation grip.

For a brief moment Friday, the song "Why Can't We Be Friends?" blared over the speakers of a ride at the Arab International Festival in Dearborn; but nearby, an anti-Islamic protest made its way down Warren Avenue, drowning out the lyrics' message of friendship with the angry shouts of attendees.

While the majority of the festival remained unscathed, the Bible Believers – a small contigent with an anti-Islam message – protested at the fair on Warren Avenue.

Near them, separated by Wayne County police, a crowd of 50-100 counter-protesters contested the group's presence with words and actions. Most were teenagers, while several adult festival-goers urged the youth to break up their groups and ignore the protest.

The group, armed with signs preaching messages against Islam, stayed for about an hour and a half. Bottles were thrown, swear words were shouted and obscene gestures were made while the police routinely stepped in to separate the groups. Midway through the affair, four mounted police officers were brought in to quell the crowd.

In total, the festival stretched several blocks and the protestors affected only a small area of the event. Nonetheless, two festival attendees were detained and issued citations for disorderly conduct, according to Wayne County Deputy Chief Mike Jaafar.

No official arrests were made, and Jaafar said his team was please overall with the outcome.

This the second time that the Bible Believers have staged a provocative demonstration at the festival with their abusive banners, which denounce Islam as a "religion of blood and murder" and the Prophet Muhammad as a "child molesting pervert". They did the same last year.
