ICNA Partner Agency Rated Among Top 10 US Charity

NEW YORK, NY (August 8, 2013) – The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) today congratulated the relief agency Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD) USA on being recognized as one of the top American charities.

In a letter to the HHRD Chairman Dr. Talat Sultan, and CEO Farrukh Raza, the President of ICNA Naeem Baig congratulated the board and staff of HHRD on being rated sixth by the reputed agency Charity Navigator, among the top 10 Highly Rated Charities Relying on Private Contributions this past week.

Charity Navigator is the nation’s largest and most-utilized evaluator of charities. It has developed an unbiased, objective, numbers-based rating system to assess over 6,000 of America’s best-known charities. HHRD received a score of 68.95 in Financial Performance, and 70 in Accountability & Transparency; with the overall score of 69.25 out of 70, making HHRD among the privileged Top Four Star Charities.

HHRD, a partner organization of ICNA is one of the largest American Muslim relief organizations focusing on providing services and support to projects overseas. Mr. Baig said “we pray for the continued success of Helping Hand and the strengthening of their efforts to bring relief to the poor and needy across the globe”.

With about 300 employees and many volunteers worldwide, HHRD has 13 offices in USA. It also has offices in Jordan to cover Middle Eastern countries, Kenya & Somalia for Africa, Pakistan for South Asia and in Burma & Thailand for South East Asia. It also manages an active overseas and local youth internship program.

Presently HHRD has major undertaking in Haiti, Syria, Jordan, Palestine, Egypt, Tunisia, Kenya, Somalia, Pakistan, Kashmir, India, Bangladesh, Burma, Thailand, and Indonesia; as well as seasonal Ramadan, Eid gifts & meat distribution programs in hunger elimination, disaster relief, poverty alleviation, orphan support and medical care in almost 55 countries.
