9/11 – The impact on US and Muslim World

on Monday, July 8, 2013

The 9/11 incident was brutally inflicted on all US citizens, and was claimed as a day of sheer tragedy, loss and distrust to all other communities; especially for the Muslims, the day have undeniably created more problems for the Islamic community than for US citizens. The fall of Twin Towers was indeed a day of permanent damage to the American embassy, and brought significant impact on the United State’s economy, psychology and infrastructure. From that day, the world policy took a whole new turn, through which Muslim world became the center of agenda, and was brought under watchful eyes.

The US administration altered their perspective on friends and enemies, and cooked up a new, critical recipe to stabilize their state and keep the communities, that were considered to cut off the pleasant foreign policy roots, at bay. Therefore, with sudden -and harsh- changes the government of the United States made in response to the tragic loss on 9/11, the Muslim world including Egypt, Yemen and most importantly, Pakistan and Afghanistan has been suffering indirect attacks since then.

Researchers have shown that US, since that day, have intensified their research on Muslim world loopholes that could give them an opportunity to make practical and effective changes in the critical part of the world. These fractures, that the Muslims pent-up in military, politics or social strategies are an easy way to let the destruction enter in. Likewise, the weak sides in the nation of Muslim world that include division in Sunni and Shi’ite, Arabs and non-Arabs and differences in creed, ethics and communities are ways for US to exploit.

The national security assistant of George W. Bush, Juan Zarate clearly said, “Our understanding of Islam and Muslim communities has grown exponentially and is much more sophisticated now than it was in Sept. 11. And that has enabled us to be much more nuanced in our dealings with the Muslim World”. The statement distinctly implies that the United States held Muslim countries as sole responsible for the change that they brought after 9/11 incident. Though there have been no significant proof for the real criminals, the relation of the United States with all Muslim countries has worsened just because of consistent terrorist activities in their region.

The Muslims, on the other hand, have suffered numerous attacks from US after September 2001. While the American administration blames Muslim leaders for not condemning the attack of 9/11 enough, the Muslim leaders and scholars have forwarded statements that say Islam strictly abhors violence, especially where innocent civil are harmed.

Conclusively, the September incident entirely changed the outlook of every US citizen, and the government refreshed and made security measures stricter in the States, while holding only the Muslims responsible, despite Islamic leaders’ demand of patent proof. The foreign policy has deteriorated to utmost, and Muslims in general from all walks of life have suffered the loss of many innocent citizens and family members since then.
