Halal is the term used for representing the kind of object or the way of doing things in accordance with the ways described in Islam. The concept of halal in Islam is very simple but yet very original. In the Islamic ways, there are some defined methods that have to be adopted so that the criteria of halal could be fulfilled

The question is; what makes a thing halal? The cooking and preparing methods of the meat are already mentioned in the Islamic laws. As a Muslim, one must follow these laws while preparing and cooking food. If meat is not prepared, in accordance with the ways that are defined in Islam, then that meat should not be considered as halal. In fact, it would be called haram. Haram is basically used in the opposite sense of haram.

Every religion has its own ways of teachings their followers. The followers of Islam are called Muslims. Obviously, there is a complete school of thought behind the issue of halal and haram. The word halal originated from Arabic dictionary that means forbidden or not allowed. The Muslims are allowed to eat the meat of some limited animals and the meat has to be prepared by a different kind of method. The way of slaughtering the animal is further described in Islam. Non-Muslims have their own ways of slaughtering the animal. Islam has emphasized on a specific way of slaughtering the animal that makes it halal. From Islamic point of view, halal does not refer to food only.

If you look into the details of the halal, you will find that there is a broader meaning lies behind this concept. The concept of halal is also extended for actions; the actions can be halal or haram in Islam. Let us have an example of the forbidden actions in Islam; If a person earns the money by an illegal mean, then that is said to be haram (not halal). The halal way of earning money is thought a proper channel. illegal means are like gambling and cheating.

This is not the end; the concept of halal is also related to the thoughts and ideas of a person. If the person has done something illegal with the intention of doing it then the earning of that work would be haram, or in other words it would not be halal. The halal food items should be used in dietary plans.

It is important to know that, as a Muslim, there is an exceptions. These exceptions are given in certain situations. They are only valid in those types of situations that are already described in Islam laws and concepts. The exception to eat the food that is not halal is given in that situation in which you are not able to find halal food that is halal. For example; soldiers can eat any food during a status of war.
