Pakistan fashion is Islamic Fashion?

on Saturday, October 6, 2012

Pakistan is a Muslim state and it is compulsory to follow certain norms and cultures in the country. Pakistan is undoubtly flourishing by leaps and bounds.

With the advances of different sectors of Pakistan, fashion industry is also flourishing very rapidly. This week PFDC L’Oreal Paris fashion week is taking place in Lahore.

We get to see the number of crowds being pulled over; the fashion show is showcasing collections of number of designers across the country. The major theme of the clothes is the Bridal collection. Pakistan is the land of celebrations and festivals and marriages are done in extravagant manner.

One may be forced to think that the collection being showcased has lot of sleeveless and low neckline dresses. This is a Muslim state where a women needs to cover herself up but how come such collections are being made and sold.

The people who buy such dresses must be wearing on different occasions and this dress code is not allowed in Islam.  As far as the women dress code is concerned, Islam has identified few rule sin Holy Quran as

“O you Children of Adam! We have bestowed on you raiment to cover your shame as well as to be an adornment to you. But the raiment of righteousness, that is the best. Such are among the Signs of Allah, that they may receive admonition.” (Quran 7:26)

“And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what must ordinarily appear therof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands’ fathers, their sons, their husbands’ sons, their brothers, or their brothers’ sons or their sisters’ sons, or their women or the servants whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex, and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. And O you Believers, turn you all together towards Allah, that you may attain Bliss.” (Quran 24:31).

“O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks close round them (when they go abroad). That will be better, so that they may be recognised and not annoyed. Allah is ever Forgiving, Merciful.” (Quran 33:59)

We are not a judgmental society in Pakistan, but for a Muslim men and women they must follow a certain way of dressing up or dress code. Designers are making huge collections which are surely too bought by the people. We are not a society who forces each other to what to wear and what not to wear. But it’s our duty that we must remind and inform each other about the rules set by Islam regarding different things such as dress code and covering up one’s self. Islam is a complete code of life and must we follow it
